The Tartan Swap: A Highland Clan War Romance

Rate this book
One Fierce Bride. One Beautifully Angry Laird. One Marriage That Will Conquer the Highlands… or Burn Them to Ash.

Alyssa MacInnes doesn’t bow, doesn’t beg, and certainly doesn’t break. Taking her cousin’s place at the altar was the boldest move of her life—and the most dangerous—but she’d sooner meet a blade than bow her head.

Laird Tryss MacCraith needs a wife, not a wildcat with secrets in her eyes. Yet every time Alyssa meets his fury with fire, something inside him tightens—something that has nothing to do with duty and everything to do with desire.

In a land where loyalty is life and passion can be ruin, every clash between them sparks hotter than the last. And when war closes in, Alyssa and Tryss will have to choose what to protect first—their clans… or the dangerous, undeniable pull that could burn them both to ash.

Steamy Scottish romance fans will love this tale of fiery passion, fierce heroes, and bold heroines.

About the author

I write fierce Highland brides and beautifully angry lairds, the kind of love stories that set the heather on fire. My books blend passion, grit, and a wild dash of danger, where love is not a polite affair. It is a battle cry. Set against the storm swept moors and mist covered lochs of Scotland, my tales are filled with stubborn hearts, aching devotion, and kisses worth going to war for.

I believe the best romances are the ones that hurt a little first, the kind where loyalty is tested, forgiveness is earned, and every happily ever after feels like victory. When I am not tangled up in 1600s clan rivalries, you will find me plotting new ways to make readers swoon, shout, and threaten to throw the book, right before they beg for the next one.

Come for the kilts. Stay for the heartbreak, redemption, and love that refuses to yield.

And if you start yelling at my characters, do not worry. I do too.

Enjoyed the book!

I liked the relationship between the MMC and the FMC. I love a good Highlands story! Maybe use the word storm a bit less?!

This book completely swept me into the Highlands. Alyssa MacInnes is the kind of heroine I adore fierce, defiant, and unwilling to bow even when her life depends on it. Watching her clash with the brooding, beautifully angry Laird Tryss MacCraith was pure fire. Their chemistry? Explosive. The tension between duty and desire kept me flipping pages late into the night. I loved the emotional depth beneath all that heat loyalty, sacrifice, and vulnerability woven perfectly together. The pacing was strong, the romance deliciously steamy, and the banter unforgettable. If you love enemies to lovers with Highland intensity, this is a must read.

It was different from most romances I read. Yes there were problems like all romances, she made him mad, he didnt want to get married type of stuff. But there were consequences, like real consequences that hung around, not just swept under the rug.

Spice level 4 - this is the dirtiest Scottish highlands book I have read in awhile.

plot - This book has war in it. Like fully described war. I don't usually see this in romances. usually the ladies are at home during the war, nope not this time. Plunked me right into the mess of it.

five stars - can't wait for book two

This book was absolutely everything. The characters were so well developed. Fergus is my favorite, but Tryss steals the show. He is brooding, angry at everyone.....except Alyssa. She is just naughty. Full Spice. No closed doors. No fade to black. This is a simmering read with a fantastic plot.

Want to talk about plot? This book has a 4 chapter war! Full on Clan war with politics, blood, desperation and ............Just go read it

If you completely want to immerse yourself into the language of the old Scots, this is the book for you! The story itself is good, but as I said it was so authentic it was not a fast or relaxing read. For those who completely want to sink into that world, you'll love it!
