I hadn't read any of the previous novels in this series so I read this as a standalone.
I don't often read this type of novel because I usually find the stories to be unbelievable. I really liked this one and found it to be a real page turner. I liked the characters and the plot. But about halfway through, without giving much away, the story took a turn and became more action than narrative. After that, I enjoyed it less.
However, any novel I read in less than a week has to have something good going for it. I am sure if you enjoy this series, you will like this installment.
3.75/5. I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway. My review is honest and voluntary. This was a fast-paced, action-packed PI novel. I like the MMC enough to root for him, and I loved that the author took the time with the action and it wasn’t just crammed in the end.
