This is their entire journey From the first time they met to their HEA
You get all the fabulous “ Not happening, pretty boy” combacks from Brie to the insane amount of frustrating FUBARs from Kellan without having to wait. Humorous. Smexy. Romantic.
I enjoyed Brie; her character had a backbone and wasn't easily pushed around. She also had the patience of a saint 👼 If it were me, they never would have found the body 🤷♀️ I yelled at him so many times
There is some light angst. A bit of politics. Lots of humor Banter An amazing cast of secondary characters that were an integral part of the story Pretty insane mess-ups from our resident Playboy High-heat make-ups that followed the Break-ups Engaging one-on-one communication with the characters (this was new to me) Well-evolved romance that felt natural
All wrapped in a modern day cinderella story with all the ups and downs and wildly roundabouts you would expect from a struggling commoner to a Duchess romance
Book 1 Duched I love Xavier Neal's work and the start of this series did not disappoint. Having a strong MFC, Brie is witty, smart, too clever for Kellen at times and for the Duke, she was irresistable! He was drawn to her like a moth to a flame~ Seeing her at a boring Art exhibition whilst visiting the U.S. he found his way over to her and what he thought was great conversation. Seems Brie wasn't that interested in the royal. Not to be beaten, he refuses to give up and finds her name and address and appears on her door step. So starts this, dare we say it, slow burn love affair! One thing leads to anther and they find that they are quite compatible. BUT, she decrees that she is not going to be another fleeting one night stand like his history shows....he was after all known as the Prince of Playboys! At times he wished maybe he didn't sow so may oats LOL! Attraction grows and when Kellen is due to go back home, he asks himself does he really need to leave the U.S.? He can work from where ever he lives, so instead of the airport, he settles with a new apartment and Brie by his side. The chemistry is off the charts hot, as is the steamy scenes! They both begin to get feelings for each other, but refuse to name them....like LOVE!! Who falls first? I reckon he falls first with her not too far behind! Kellen has never been in love before. Brie has never felt so close to another before! Their banter is off the charts funny and the way this story is told is way different to what I usually read....which is it includes you in the narrative. And yes it just works!! Tensions at home has Kellen facing some tough decisions! And taking Brie home to meet his family may not have been the brightest idea he has had! Brie's father has a heart attack and she has to rush home, leaving Kellen behind to make those decisions .......and yeh you guessed it, A cliffy!!! Bring on book 2, Royally Duched. Just need to see if this all works out for this outstanding couple!
Book 2 Royally Duched Ahhhh the path to eternal love sometimes always seems to be a battle filed. As Brie struggles with living in Doctenn with her new fiance' and his family. A laugh a minute in this entertaining ride as Kellan and Brie's life unfolds. Loved the banter and of course Kellan forgetting he has a fiancee sitting at home waiting for him to remember she was there, does not bode well for him! Busy resurrecting his business due to the withdrawal of his backers....a fact that is not lost on Brie as Doctenn did not take to her being a Black American, engaged to the second in line for the throne, at all!! She soon lets him know his mistakes and he tries to make quick amends. As Kellan loves her infinitely, he worries she is going to change her mind and flee back to the U.S. He forever seems to be in hot water, which he attempts to get out of...with some "paint ball"...as the brothers take on Soph and Brie....Yeh you can guess who won! Yeh? And whilst he continues to placate an unhappy Brie, at a formal luncheon, being ridiculed and insulted, Kellan's father actually comes to their rescue and declares that he supports his son and his decision to marry for love!! Woo Hoo!! Brie suddenly feels like she may be, sort of, part of the family now? And of course Kellan's history insists on coming to haunt him as in another cliffy, Brie has to come face to face with a woman who knows Kellan very intimately....which is not so good on Kellan as he realises he needs to make a decision that will see his dream come to fruition and one that pleases his very unhappy fiancee.......bring on book 3!!
Book 3: Royally Duched Up A wonderful wedding and honeymoon!! But their marriage soon finds a few pot holes that both Brie and Kellan need to navigate to keep their married life on an even keel. What? You didn't think it was going to be a bed of roses for them did you? LOL As the banter continues, both Brie and Kellan face down nemesis's that they both are convinced are trying to ruin their marriage. Kellen fears that Guy is better suited to his wife and her needs, where as Brie has to come to terms with Kellan working closely with an ex....Felicity. As Hannah's Hope, an orphanage, in honour of his late mother, comes to fruition with the help of financial backing by Felicity, Kellan finds that he does not have the time to spend with his wife and family anymore. The work involved in getting the orphanage up and running, whilst running into many obstacles keeps him away from home far too much, he feels his dream is nearing fruition and he soon forgets his obligations to his wife and the royal family. But, Guy keeps Brie on the straight and narrow, and she is convinced at times that Guy seems to take Kellan's side over her own, making many excuses as to why, once again he cancels his plans to spend time with her. Brie, still as sharp tongued as ever, soon puts Kellan in his place, and if not for the fact that we get dual POV, plus the added bonus of the narrative straight to us, for our eyes only, Kellan struggles to find a compromise in his life. The story is hilariously funny, and most times Kellan can talk himself out of trouble but when he takes a call from Felicity during the night, and disappears on Brie without a call or text, when he was supposed to support her whilst she took a vital exam, all the wheels come falling off their marriage. AND yes you guessed it, Felicity is simply over the moon that Kellan and Brie "appear" to be splitting up....her plans finally coming to fruition...... How on earth is Kellan going to get himself out of hot water is funny to see, as he feels heartbroken that he let Brie down "again". Will she forgive him, or has he let her down one too many times? She finds solace in Guy!! (hehe, of course she does!!) Loved the ending, and especially the epilogue, as Kellan and Brie do find their HEA, eventually!!
More than anything, I would like to praise this author for delivering. The blurb stated prepare to laugh out loud. Something I often read in a blurb then end up disappointed. This,"new", to me author had me laughing from the prologue to the epilogue. This is an extreme rarity for me, so on that note, why else should you read this trilogy ...
First of all, the realness of the story. Overlooking a billionaire prince, the reality of the trilogy truly reflected life in today's global society. The bigotry is enough to make one wish to stop trying, the needs of simple daily living people take for granted, yet many have no hope, even in our first world countries, like the USA. And, the learning that loving someone does not mean life is all wonder and joy. Happily ever after are made through hard work. And They All Lived Happily Ever After, only occurs in fairy tales, but this trilogy is an excellent tool for learning too often we take for granted what we have, and confuse acceptance for support. I actually loved this trilogy! The mirror it gives us about life, love, and learning through growth, while making the reader laugh out loud, was a true joy to read.
I would recommend this trilogy to anyone to read. It has it all!
This is the absolutely best way to get this series because it gets you the three books AND the bonus epilogue AND all with zero wait times between books or even having to fiddle around to switch between every book. It is all just smooth reading pleasure as you enjoy Kellan and Brie's story. I love these two so much and they are one of my favorite couples of all time. Their romance has a timeless air to it that no matter how many times I read it always rings true, and the blend of emotion, feelings, heart, spice, drama, humor and angst is as skillful as it is seductive. I highly recommend you grab a copy and hold on tight as these two hit you with a powerful case of The Feels, make you swoon and send your emotions and heart on a roller-coaster ride of heart melting highs, tear inspiring lows and intense moments of ire that will have you wanting desperately to give some characters what they definitely have coming.
Promises made, promises broken was a theme throughout this series, he just did not step back see and understand who was causing trouble and keeping him busy. I really wanted to scream at him for most of this box set. Brie was an angel to mostly put up with it, she showed her love and loyalty not just to him but to the family and people she had taken on with him. I loved the family and how they adopted her, that they joined her games and had fun. Paint games sounded funny but messy, definitely something for protective clothing. A good read though I found myself skipping some of the narrative that was character to reader, I struggled with it breaking the flow of the story even why understanding why the author wrote it this way, but that is just me. I enjoyed it and loved the ideas and concepts of what the characters were building and creating for the good of those that needed it.
The Duched Trilogy by Xavier Neal is the touching, heart-melting story of Kellan and Brie. Loved the dynamic between these two characters!!! One of whom is a Royal…a Prince and a Duke…the other is just a regular person….a lunch lady, in fact, for privileged children. He’s quite the ladies man and makes no bones about it. When he meets her and wants more, she basically blows him off. This intrigues him…
This series is more than just an ‘opposites attract’ romance, there are elements of class struggles, hierarchy, and public opinion involved. These only enhance, rather than detract, from the story. I was completely immersed in this story and loved the banter between the two!!! I also enjoyed the unusual method of writing…directly to the reader…making the reader intimately involved in the story!! Great read!!!
What happens when a playboy prince determined never to settle down meets a struggling art student immune to his charms? Undeniable chemistry, a love that overcomes all obstacles, and a life painted in all the colors of the rainbow.
As strong as their love may be, it definitely has several moments where you wonder if it will survive the onslaught of problems thrown their way. Just when you think they get their happily ever after, something or someone tries to destroy it (sometimes even Kellen himself).
Hop on this rollercoaster for a fun "real life" fairytale and learn something new while you are at it
Duched Royally Duched Royally Duched Up Bonus Epilogue This is an amazing boxset which is Brie and Kellan’s story, and how their relationship evolves when one is a royal and one is a commoner, and the trials and tribulations which the deal with along the way. This is a well written action packed, easy to read, emotionally charged story, with family dynamics, angst, drama, tension, chaos, jealousy, opposites attract, royalty / commoner, trust, romance, humour, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable, addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this box set from the moment I started the first page. I really liked Brie and Kellan characters and how they worked through the ups and downs. I liked the back and forth banter from the beginning and how they grow over time. I really liked that it is in a boxed set. If you enjoy good romance, great books, and stories that hold your attention from the get go, I highly recommend this boxed set.
I loved re reading Kell an and Brie's story. It had all of the fun, fights, and making up required. It also had the ugly truths of racism, and stereotypes. Good prevailed over ugly and hateful. This trilogy is worth the read. The extended chosen family is incredible. Well done Xavier. This is another fantastic couple to cherish.
Brie and Kellan's story delves into trials and tribulations occurring in the relationship between a couple, one of which is a royal. Issues include prejudice, work/home life balance, jealousy, trust, and more. An excellent trilogy.
Amazing series and this boxset has it all in one place; even the epilogue, Brie and Kellan's story includes situations, life struggles, family issues, interactions, chemistry, banter, humor, making choices, taking chances, romance, and twists. Well written and totally engaging.
I love that all these fabulous books are in one spot. I loved and enjoyed Kellan and Brie. Love their banter and chemistry. Great books and highly entertaining!
I couldn't get enough of Kellan and Brie. There story has many ups and downs, but it is a really good love story between a Prince and Princess. They fought for one another in more ways than one. Learn some hard things along the way. but their love and commitment to one another helped them come out on top and on the otherwise and promote change in more ways than one.
From a whirlwind meeting between Brie and Kellan (an actual prince), through all their ups and down navigating a relationship, this book had me hooked.
Sweet, spicy, and funny...with a few heart tugs thrown in.
