As the latest in the Aviva James series, I can honestly say that it is not my favorite book in the series. This book felt confusing, there seemed to be too many things going on and I am not even sure they were at the same time. I also feel like the first case was just left unfinished. Despite this, I still gave it 4 stars. As always, it was well written and I love the characters. Ava's team is wonderful and I enjoy each of the cases. Some of it really didn't make sense, like how one person was able to orchestrate not only disabling Ava's team, Sal and the models who were murdered. Honestly, I would have enjoyed this book far more without the back and forth from her past and the current case. Her past has been explored before, and it's always nice to learn more. However, with the opening case, Ava's past, the art show and gala, and the fashion show, it was a lot. Still, a solid book.

The Last Hunt

Ava James, FBI agent, is brought back to a place from her past that has devastating memories for her. I didn’t like this book as well as other A.J. Rivers books. There were multiple flashbacks that intersected with the present and it was hard to follow. A chapter would be labeled “6 years ago” and some where in the middle of the chapter it switched to present day with it being a memory Ava was going back over. It found it hard to stay connected with the story, especially as there was a totally unrelated case Ava worked on. THAT case was solved and suddenly she was thrust back into an old case with new murders set up to eliminate her as a past witness. It was very confusing.

This book had me a little confused at times and I actually feel like I have more questions. Maybe it’s because I don’t remember much from the book about Ivy Grove but like the back and forth in time wasn’t as smooth as it should have been on the Kindle. Also what happened to the art murders - is it implied that the person she arrested at Ivy Grove was the one who did all art murders as well? I also feel things were rushed with the Manning case, like what actually happened to Ellory? Again confused because this is the last book in this series but hoping it will pick up in Emma’s series?! Idk.

The Last Hunt

Aviva James has taken me on many cases, this last one kept me reading till I finished it. I know it was the last one and that makes me sad, but I know she is not done. I am sure Emma will be keeping her busy and I look forward to that. Thanks Ava James you are what the FBI should be.

Ava James' final adventure takes her back to where it all started - Ivy Grove.

Fashion models are killed, and all the members of her team go missing. Ava scrambles to put the macabre pieces together so she can find out who's behind this and stop them. You do not want to miss this final adventure!

What an ending!

This was a great series and I'm sad to see it end. So much happened between the first and last books. I may just have to go back and re-read them. Ava is a fireball and her team is great together. I hope that, like Dean, we haven't seen the last of them.

Intense and edge of your seat

Oh, my, all the twists and turns are mind boggling! And as usual with Ms Rivers, edge of your seat! Sad to know Ava’s series is over; hope to see her again helping Emma.

Fitting Title

Ava is confronted with memories on all sides. Many plot lines are intertwined, which are the strengths and weaknesses of the plot. If you don't know Ava's history, this work may be frustrating.
