sofia is a young 20 yo woman who is struggling in poverty to graduate MIT and crashes a fancy party with her best friend. there she meets Nikolai who realizes she was not an invited guest but is intrigued by her. they end up spending the night together where sofia leaves early before he wakes up. they are wearing masks and didn't exchange names and nikolai goes crazy the next morning when she's disappeared. he tries for months to find her with no luck. 6 yrs go by and sofia now a mother of the baby she conceived that night is struggling even worse due to her childs medical needs. she accidentally hacks into nikolai's computer system and sees mafia records that put her life at risk. he has her brought to him where he sees her with her child not knowing this is the woman he was searching for as they don't realize its each other and makes her a deal to pay her a ton of money for her working for him for one year. she discovers he's a mafia don and how dangerous he and his world is but has no choice. she needs the money to pay for her daughters care and her massive debt. slowly they come to start a sexual relationship and sofia realizes he is her childs father but is too afraid to tell him anything. events happen, there is someone working behind the scenes against nikolai and he finds out details he then uses to try and take advantage of the situation and blackmail nikolai to get what he wants. her true identity is revealed and the fact her child is nikolai's which causes trouble. other things happen to put lives at risk and they must work together before its too late and they lose everything that was developing between them and more.

Highly disappointed. While the book starts with a promising premise — a masquerade, a one-night stand, and a mafia boss — the story quickly falls apart.
The plot is full of inconsistencies and continuity errors that make it difficult to stay immersed. Scenes jump without logic, character motivations change abruptly, and important details are either forgotten or contradicted later on. The writing often feels like it was generated by AI and never properly edited to ensure the story actually makes sense.
What’s most frustrating is the wasted potential. The masquerade and one-night-stand elements could have created real tension and intrigue, but instead they’re rushed and underdeveloped.
Ultimately, this was a disappointing read with a good idea at its core but very poor execution.

Sofia and Nikolai share a night of passion during a masked gala. Years later they are reunited when she hacks into his system and a deal made to work with him. This story was intriguing as twists and turns kept my interest. I could not put it down.

WOW!!
This love story had me on the edge of my seat. You couldn’t put this book down. I love these mafia love stories they’re totally different from what I normally read, but it was excellent. A must read I laughed, I cried it truly is a very good story!!

Another delightful mafia novel that captivates from the start. The author consistently surprises us with her mafia novels, and the storyline and characters are delightful.
