I absolutely loved this from beginning to end & cannot WAIT for book 2. Definitely an easy/quick read but kept me engaged the entire time. The Serpent Queen is such a bad ass character and was such a fun narrator.

*I received a free copy of this book from the author*

I adore the author and her work, she's very inspiring and I love what she does ! so of course I applied for a copy of the serpent queen.

what I loved:
- the world building and the synopsis is so good, I loved the FMC and the fact we're seeing the story through the eyes of the villain!
- the story unravels itself easily and it's very easy to read.
- the romance is cute as f and I loved having two MMC in this book.

what didn't click:
unfortunately I felt like the writing was clumsy and the pacing was a bit over the place. there was a huge lack of descriptions but at the same time too much of inside thoughts which made me loose focus on the story. I honestly skimmed the last 80%.

maybe this wasn't a book for me, but I want to thank the author for this opportunity! unfortunately I won't be reading book 2 whenever it comes out

So tell me about the most iconic FMC there is, who wears her heels, her blood red lipstick and her murderous snakes like armour as she wields an image of herself to her court and the world like a sword and a shield. Who feels everything deeply whilst pretending to feel nothing at all. Who loves hard and fiercely, but who is too afraid to make it real. Who has men throwing themselves at her feet, enchanted by her very existence, and yet feels worthless and tainted and weak because of deep seated trauma, and a childhood which left her bruised and scarred. Who has to go on a quest to stop her pesky feelings returning with her situationship, and ex lover?? Tiffany, girl, you spoil me. I was whisked away by The Serpent Queen instantly, devoured it gleefully, screeched and screamed and howled and sobbed the entire time, a veritable parkour of emotions. I couldn’t get enough. Behind the snarky iconic lines and confidence of our serpent queen and her adorable snake companions (Dante, Ember, you own my soul), there’s a tenderness, a softness, a reminder that to be soft is to be strong, and to love makes you brave. All hail Seera, my serpent queen.

We love a villain FMC! Seera was everything badass, sexy and unfeeling, with so much sass it would knock you out!

Going from a queen x bodyguard to then, evolving to a second-chance romance? Omg yes!

Alaric, honestly from him being portrayed so terribly by Seera to start off with and then she pulled her walls down for him again. I just kinda had a bit of whiplash from the fast paced of her no longer hating him... But Alaric the King who literally is dark but has this soft side to him.

But that ending?! Why are all my books ending in big cliffhangers recently? I neeeeeed closure 😂

She is beauty, she is grace, she likes to punch men in the face 👊🏼
Our FMC is the embodiment of feminine rage - she’s a total baddie, fighting battles in her stiletto boots, and painting on her blood-red lipstick like it’s war paint 💄
And I’m terrified of snakes, but damn if I didn’t love Seera’s reptilian companions, Ember and Dante!
Despite a heap of childhood trauma, Seera clawed her way to power, and now rules over her Queendom from a gilded throne… but with rebel groups forming to unseat her, and glitches occurring with her magic due to godly meddling, Seera must seek help from the immortal she sold her soul to, and who broke her heart in the process 💔
This time she’s determined their interactions will be different, and with her loyal bodyguard by her side (and occasionally on his knees 👀), she’s confident she can resist The Serpent King’s allure, and keep ahold of the power she treasures above all else.
ALL HAIL THE SERPENT QUEEN 👸🏻

Spoiler Free Review: 4 stars

Thank you to the author Tiffany Rosewood for allowing me to ARC read. I am voluntarily leaving this review.

If you are having second thoughts about the story, I suggest sticking it out. I was feeling very unsatisfied with the story at around the 60% mark (almost to the point of DNF’ing) but from that point on, the story picks up and I now cannot wait for book 2. It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you thinking.

The opening scene had a major shock factor that had me hooked but it kind of felt slow for a bit afterwards. Then it gradually got exciting and now we are just cruising. I love the tension and relationship that Seera has with both Landon and The Serpent King. If you want spice, there are some spicy scenes (I’d rate it about 3 out of 5 for spice).

As far as how much brain power is needed for this book I would say like 1-2 out of 5. It is very easy to follow, nothing too complicated. The world building is pretty straightforward as well.

On the surface, we view Seera as a strong, soulless queen who adores her snakes and thrives off of the fear that others have for her. However, as she is slowly regaining her feelings and emotions we discover that at the root she is actually a very fragile and broken girl who probably just needs to feel and be loved unconditionally. The development of the characters throughout their journey was nice and I can’t wait to see more of their changes in the next books for this series.

What I Liked:
-the relationship Seera has with Landon and with The Serpent King
-learning about the characters’ pasts (there’s still so much more to learn)
-animal companions (Seera’s snakes Dante and Ember)

What I Was Not a Fan of:
-mentioning “75 years ago, when Seera was 25 years old” or “piercing green eyes” in almost every chapter, mostly in the beginning of the book. This could just be a personal pet peeve, but I find it very redundant and unnecessary to state those details over and over

Thank you to the author for an e-arc of this book!

“I’d gladly be the villain, if it meant I’d never be the failed hero”

This book is sooo different from a lot of books I’ve read. Our FMC herself is a morally black villain in her own right and does not give 2 licks about what people think about it.

8 decades ago, she bargained her soul and emotions away for power. Unrelenting power. Now she’s the Serpent Queen and rules through fear and an iron fist. But when some of those emotions she bargained away years ago start to creep their way back to her, she’s determined to figure out why and stop it, even if it means coming face to face with the man who not only took them away but broke her heart, the Serpent King.

With her trusted bodyguard (with benefits) in tow, she will stop at nothing to keep her reign of terror intact. But as emotions start coming back, she also remembers what those good emotions can also bring, and question whether she’s ready to give it all up again.

That ending and epilogue! Like, what!?! I need book 2, like now!! Curveball I didn’t see coming!

The spice. 🌶️ Listen, we got a girl who’s not afraid to take what she wants and seek out the pleasure she desires 🥵 and men willing to get in their knees for their Queen 🥵

I am VERY intrigued to see where the next book goes. That ending threw me through such a loop I don’t even know what’s up and what’s down 🤣

Great debut novel for this book! I was iffy on our FMC at first but she’s so different than everything else you read, it was fun to watch her throughout the book!

From the beginning the pacing of this book had me flipping fast to keep up.

Seera our lovely dark and grumpy Serpent Queen really pulled me in and I was at her feet from page one. Her lines were sassy and perfect. As a self identified “fashion does not stop for pain” believer, when she refused to wear the “ugly” boots in order to wear her stilettos was perfection. She is so unapologetically herself and it makes her relatable and real. She is also hilarious- her mental commentary really had me waiting to see what else she’d say.

The way emotions are described is so creative! They have a scent! It’s so interesting to see how Seera identifies emotions as the story progresses and to even begin to maybe feel some feels herself.

I really enjoyed the small cast of characters because it really allowed us to focus on the relationships presengef and how they are interwoven. Landon man, I’m kind of glad the way things went with him because everytime Seera told him to be quiet I was also quietly rolling my eyes like come on dude.

Now Alaric and Seera’s relationship was perfectly imperfect and it made it that much more real. It’s not a cute love story, it’s raw, heartbreaking and dark. It was a nice reminder that not everything is a beautiful HEA in the way Disney told us. The banter between these two was ELITE! I was giggling and cackling at their banter.

I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book because that ending got me. Like what does it mean??

Please go check out this book if you love a baddie fierce FMC!

Thank you so so much for the author for my advanced copy of The Serpent Queen 🩸🐍

4⭐️

The Serpent Queen felt different to me from most other books I've read in the sense we are getting the POV from a morally black villain, Seera. i absolutely loved seeing the world in her red tinted (aka the blood of her victims) glasses. At times I felt a bit weighed down by how much this character loves violence and hurting people, but then the author reminds us that Seera LITERALLY does not have a soul. Like duh she wouldn't have any issues with literally torturing and killing people.

I can appreciate a woman who knows what she wants and one who's not afraid to take it. I also understand not wanting to be dependent on another, and wanting to be stronger than your past may suggest you are (even if that means losing your soul and your moral compass with it). I did find myself relating to a lot of the FMC's pain, which I think made me appreciate The Serpent Queen so much more. Our girl Seera has been through a lot, and I think her decisions ultimately make sense as she tries to play with the cards she was handed.

I did love the world building and all the different characters and their magic. The pace is also very fast, causing the story to unravel easily and making it a faster-paced read.

Overall, I think The Serpent Queen is perfect for someone looking for a fast-paced dark adult romantasy with spice, two down bad MMC's, a sassy lady-in-waiting (is it crazy to say she was my favorite character??), feminine rage, second chance romance, and meddling gods.

The Serpent Queen is a dark, emotionally charged fantasy filled with deadly magic, dangerous bargains, and morally gray choices. At the center of it all is Seera — a fierce, ruthless villain queen who rules by fear, deals in punishment, and absolutely does not tolerate disobedience… and yet, somehow, you can’t help but root for her.

She’s powerful, cruel, broken, and complicated. Watching her carefully controlled world begin to crack is completely addictive. This story blends political tension, gods, twisted loyalties, and spicy simmering romance into a rich dramatic journey that keeps raising the stakes.

✨ Expect
🐍 A villain FMC you’ll love and fear
🖤 Dark fantasy vibes & dangerous magic
💕Complex relationships, spice and emotional tension
🫣 Secrets, betrayals, and morally gray choices
🔥 A story that slowly peels back armor to reveal scars underneath

This book is messy in the best way emotional, dramatic, dark, and layered. Seera is not a good person… but she is a compelling one, and her journey had me completely hooked. The ending left me desperate for the next book.

If you love dark fantasy with dangerous queens, broken gods, and heroines who walk the line between monster and survivor — this one is for you. 🐍🔥

This book is a beautiful dark romantasy w/a b@d@ss villain queen but she has a heart that can be hurt, even if she doesn't want to admit it.
Now I'm going crazy w/that cliffhanger & the author is loving it
There's 2 sexy men, one is her body guard & the other is the estranged king. There are so many emotions in this book. You don't know what you feel
. The queendom
was written so beautifully that you could really see it & almost smell it & feel it.
"There was no salvation for the wicked. There was no redemption for a monster like me."
The Serpent Queen has ruled for a little over 75yrs. So many executions w/ her adorable snakes 2> Tho rumors spread that a rebel group was forming, Now the Serpent Queen & her bodyguard are forced to visit the immortal King who took her soul away & broke her heart.
Plus on top of all of this..the gods decide to meddle w/ the King & Queens powers. She wants revenge in the worst way possible, but her d@m feelings are seeping through. Though I personally love it. It is a must read!!
It's my friend's debut book & it's a masterpiece!! Can't wait to read book 2 when it materializes in my hands cuz the double cliffhanger has me dying over here

If you want a morally grey FMC, who thrives on bloodshed..then The Serpent Queen, Seera, is your girl! After bargaining her soul for powers and no emotions, Seera takes the Throne of a mortal territory. She revels in fear and having her Queendom bow to her.
I seriously enjoyed the villain FMC, it is a newer concept to me and wow I need more. I really loved watching Seera slowly gain her emotions back and how crippling they were for her. After everything she went through, it was devastating to read (in a good way). I reallly thought I loved Landon and Seera together….but Alaric and Seera?! Absolutely my fav. The tension between those two is chef’s kiss. This book had me on the edge of my seat the last couple chapters, not knowing what was going to happen. Seeing Seera and her close allies have to learn to work together for a certain mission was really fun, even though they haven’t even gone on the mission! The banter was top tier and the spice was delicious! Definitely excited to see where this goes!

Happy release day to The Serpent Queen by the talented Tiffany Rosewood! I just finished this read last night, and what perfect timing, because today feels extra special to get to celebrate this book birthday! This will be a spoiler free review - I’ll add more once people have gotten the chance to read this beauty!

I devoured this read, and it devoured me. This is a darker romantasy with a perfectly villainous queen and… I LOVE HER! Seera is intense, twisted, and merciless and I always found myself wondering what she was going to do or say next. And her snakes Dante and Ember add such a fun edgy vibe to her character (I literally can’t pick a favorite between the two?)

If you’ve been following the absolute teasing Tiffany has been dropping on her social media page, the Serpent King vs Bodyguard dynamic had me drooling. The writing is so engaging and easy to fall into that I really couldn’t put this down, and I recommend the Serpent Queen to anyone wanting to read a dark, sexy, and emotionally driven story that will make you feel all the feels!!

There’s nothing I love more than a strong FMC… and The Serpent’s Queen? She delivered.

Seera is THAT girl. Powerful, determined, layered, and impossible not to root for. From the very first chapters, I was completely hooked.

Okay but let’s talk about the romance 👀
At first, I genuinely thought Landon and Seera had more chemistry (I was ready to defend them, not gonna lie). But then… the quiet moments between Seera and the Serpent King started happening. The tension. The slow burn. The longing. The way their dynamic shifts when they’re alone. I was obsessed. Completely gone. No notes.

This book gives you:
🐍 strong, capable FMC
🔥 slow burn that actually burns
❤️‍🩹 emotional tension
🌶️ a little bit of spice (just enough 👀)

I finished it wanting the next book immediately because I need to know what happens next.

If you love powerful female leads, romantic tension that builds and builds, and fantasy with bite… this one’s for you. It’s already available, so go grab it.

Thank you Tiffany Rosewood for trusting me with an early copy 🥹 it truly means the world.

OH MY GOD

First, thank you SOOO much to the author for this ARC! I saw art work and was immediately intrigued by the story and I’m so happy I got it!!

I loved this so much!! The story, the characters, the snake besties 🫶🏼 the FMC is a dark, badass character with two snake besties and a down bad body guard, but just you wait until you meet THE SERPENT KING 🐍 He had me giggling and kicking my feet every time he spoke 😍

I also loved Seera and her personal growth! Her struggle with her soul and emotions and seeing how the story ended, it was quite beautiful actually. There were multiple times towards the end when I teared up reading her inner monologues or conversations with Alaric 🥹

This was such a good debut book for this author and I can see her going VERY far!! The writing was so good, and the pace of the story was good, I have no complaints…. besides the CLIFFHANGER!! I need book 2 now!!

This book was a dark fantasy with snakes, magic, gods, spice and secrets. Seera is the Serpent Queen with a dark past who bargained her soul away to the Serpent King for power. She is definitely on the dark side and the title Serpent Queen is literal as she has connections with snakes and is Queen. She regularly holds executions of traitors using said snakes to make her people fear her. It is not a pitch black story, just darker fantasy as the FMC is a villain who unashamedly loves bloodshed. She is not afraid to go after what she wants and thinks she needs. We do get a body guard romance and a second chance romance but not as a love triangle. It just.. happens. Spice was spicing. To me, the second half of the book is where the story really picks up as events start to overtake her. There was quite a cliffhanger at the end so watch out for it.

✨Arc Review✨

I’m going to start off by saying I did end up not finishing this one and DNF’d at 50%. However, it was by no fault of the book or the writing! I truly believe it just simply not for me.

What I CAN say about what I read is that it was very intriguing storyline and beautifully written. Just the idea of seeing things from the villainesses pov was amazing while also captivating as she slowly regains emotions she thought were completely gone from her.

I would hands down recommend this to people to try if they love a dark fantasy romance told by the villain. Several of my friends have it on their TBR’s for when it is officially released. It simply just wasn’t for me, and that’s okay! I can still appreciate the imaginative take and intriguing storyline this book takes.

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

The Serpent Queen is a dark, character-driven fantasy filled with political intrigue, dangerous bargains, and emotional tension. The story follows Seera, a villainous queen who is equal parts ruthless and vulnerable. When her carefully controlled, longstanding reign begins to unravel, she is forced to confront her buried past.

There are two romances woven into Seera’s journey throughout the story. One is full of tension and mutual respect with a quiet (but strong) growing connection. The other is more charged and mysterious, with a mix of desire and unease. The spice is balanced nicely with the plot. I also enjoyed the world-building of Phantamos, it’s detailed without being overwhelming.

I am looking forward to the sequel!

Another great book added to my Jan reads!!!

The Serpent Queen is a perfect example of the reluctant allies trope, and it was delicious.
There's meddling gods, self discovery, and great spice. And if you're looking for a true villain FMC, look no further! But be prepared, the cliffhanger is a doozy and will absolutely make you eagerly wait for book two!!!!

Read this for:
-dark romantasy
-feminine rage
-villain fmc
-meddling gods
-reluctant allies
-'eyes on me'
-'good girl'
-'bite me'
-'f*ck it'

ARC REVIEW

This book is amazing (not to mention Tiffany is lovely). I was literally kicking my feet in the air and screaming because of it. Let me just say i am both team SK and bodyguard. I didn’t like how the SQ treated landon but hey girl gotta do what she gotta do (it doesn’t take away from how much i loved this book). The ending literally had me shook and the epilogue?? I needed book two like yesterday. It was a good time, the romance made sense, the writing was fast paced, the smut was VERY good. I will 100% be recommending this

This book was such an interesting concept. The story is a very different approach to the classic romantasy plot which was really refreshing.

The story of a powerful Queen and her quest to save her power.

This is a story of morally Grey everyone, all villains and no heroes. The desperate need to survive and protect yourself when life has repeatedly destroyed you.

I don't want to give anything away about the plot, but I will say I cannot wait for book 2. I have so many questions and I need to know what happens next!

Seera's sassy ass was so fun and also occasionally infuriating to read, but in the best way. I cannot waiiiiit for book 2!! Chef's kiss. What an awesome debut from Tiffany Rosewood!! Listen. I know I’ve generally avoided second-chance romance like the plague, but consider me converted. 😝

The Serpent Queen was one of my most anticipated reads going into 2026, so when the author, Tiffany Rosewood, chose me as an ARC reader for her debut novel, I was beyond thrilled. I was hooked immediately by the stunning art, the promise of reluctant allies, and yes… the Serpent King 💚.

Two love interests. Second-chance romance. Queen/bodyguard. And somehow this story avoids becoming a love triangle or a why-choose? I desperately needed to know how that balance was even possible.

Seera, our Serpent Queen, is as villainous as they come. She’s cruel, calculating, and often impossible to defend. I didn’t always like her and that’s the point. This is a REAL dark FMC, written without softening the edges to make her palatable. Her ruthlessness in the way she wielded her power comes with consequences that haunt every facet of this story.

Her journey is harrowing and weirdly relatable? Imagine the worst hangxiety you’ve ever had: the dry mouth, the nausea, and the soul-crushing fear of checking your phone to see exactly how much you ruined your life after your inhibitions hit zero. Now imagine that 4:00 AM panic stretched over decades of blood-soaked choices. That’s Seera’s reality and my worst nightmare.

The banter is sharp, the tension is agonizing, and the sex scenes are genuinely sexy. This story becomes impossible to put down, even when it’s uncomfortable. Especially when it’s uncomfortable.

Dark. Sexy. Unforgiving. And a hell of a debut. I can’t wait for book 2! 🐍✨

This dark romantasy debut took me entirely by surprise, starting from the very first chapter! Immediately being thrown into the story was the hook I didn’t know I needed. As her debut, Tiffany Rosewood has created a lush world full of power dynamics, a believable magic system backed by myths and gods, as well as examining deeply raw human emotion and their consequences upon one’s psyche. Seera, our beloved Serpent Queen, rules with an iron (and well-manicured) fist, feeding off the fear of her people to fill the hollowness within her since selling her soul for power and immortality. Seera is always accompanied by her snakes, Dante and Ember, as well as her trusted bodyguard, Landon. As unforeseen challenges arise, Seera must seek a reluctant alliance with the man to whom she bargained her soul, the immortal Serpent King. Tensions build and alliances are questioned as everything Seera knows is turned on its head. This story is both dark and heartbreakingly human, reminding the reader that even our most broken pieces are worthy of being held and tended to. I really enjoyed how Rosewood correlated smells to different emotions, I thought this was a brilliant way to immerse the reader further into how Seera experiences her surroundings. Ending on a mind-blowing reveal of a cliffhanger, I’m eagerly awaiting what the future holds for Seera, Landon, and the Serpent King.

A big thank you to Tiffany Rosewood for providing me an eARC for review; all thoughts are my own.

The Serpent Queen had several elements I really enjoyed, such as an interesting magic system and a FMC who literally takes zero shit. Unfortunately, a lot of things fell flat or had zero expansion so I was left feeling like not much happens nor any true development between the characters internally nor externally. There were a lot of instances that were incredibly cringe and everyone felt extremely two dimensional. The Serpent Queen is just okay, if you want to speed through a fantasy romance with darkness and little beyond the surface, this would be a good choice.

Thank you to the author for sending me an early copy.
