I throughly enjoyed reading this book. It had a good mix of suspense, romance and faith woven throughout.
It isn’t groundbreaking by any means, but the storytelling, suspense elements, and characters were enjoyable to get to know. The suspense kept me guessing, although I was able to figure out early on who was behind the attacks on Hailey. There were parts of the story that felt either fast-paced or lulled.
I didn’t particularly care for the romance, but thankfully it took a backseat to the plot. I did like that we got to see both Hailey and Peter grow closer in friendship before it slowly developed into something more.
I loved that Peter, as a former bodyguard, was so protective of Hailey and always looking out for her and her little girl.
Hailey was a surprising character for me. I loved how fiercely protective she was of her family and would do anything for them. Despite being betrayed by her late husband, she picked up the pieces of her life and kept moving forward. Her courage and strength, especially in the face of danger, made for some great character growth.
