She borrowed her sister’s life… but can she survive the truth?
Alynna Paredes has been living a lie, pretending to be her wealthy half-sister at an elite university. What started as a simple deal turned into something real… especially with Sky Anderson, the school’s most admired heartthrob.
But now, the truth is out.
Her sister is back. Her secret’s exposed. And the boy she loves treats her like a stranger.
With everything falling apart, Alynna must make a decision.
Will she walk away? Or finally fight for her true identity… and the love she never meant to find?
This is the sequel to Dating My Wacky Girlfriend and the final book in the Wacky Duology. It can’t be read as a standalone. If you enjoy light, funny romances with a gullible heroine, a multicultural Manila college setting, and K-drama-style comedy, this duology is for you.
Stephanie Harina is a Filipino-Chinese writer who has been crafting stories since high school. A lifelong lover of romantic comedies, she creates feel-good stories that make readers laugh, swoon, and smile.
She has worked with American clients for over 10 years and also spent four years teaching English in Thailand. These experiences have shaped her voice and broadened her storytelling perspective.
Her writing is deeply personal, rooted in love, loss, and the belief that stories can outlive us. After losing her father at 44, Stephanie was reminded how short life is and how powerful it can be to share our words while we can.
Through every book, she shares her heart with the world and is forever grateful to every reader who chooses to be part of that journey.
“I like that you’re just… you. No pretending. No layers to peel back. You’re simple, but so beautiful. You’re the girl I could see myself marrying someday.”
This is a painful story of love, acceptance and being true to yourself. It’s a pretty powerful message, but there are many times when it is abundantly clear that it is a YA novel. I got K-drama vibes, a huge amount of immaturity from the characters, and an inability to deal with adult situations, which is fully expected from a bunch of 17-18-year-olds….
Now Sky… I really liked him at the start, but let me explain why that changed… Sky’s actions… while he felt hurt, what he did was pretty horrible. And frankly, it made me doubt his love. How do you mix them up and not realise you’re kissing the wrong person? Or if he knew, and did it to hurt her, considering he did it later in the story with someone else???? And how do you let people treat her like that? I was done with him. She needed to grovel for the secrets, but the way he treated her was worse. He went from book boyfriend to irredeemable in about 2 chapters. And don’t even get me started on the later betrayal.
This story felt too long. Almost 500 pages of drama, and it was completely OTT… It was enjoyable in a way, but didn’t quite hit the mark… perhaps I’m just the wrong age. The author has said the next one is set while they’re adults, so we’ll see…
This Book Really Stuck With Me I honestly didn’t expect Confessing My Wacky Secret to hit me the way it did. What started as a fun, light read quickly turned into a story I felt personally connected to. The main character’s thoughts and struggles felt real, like things I’ve actually felt but never really knew how to put into words. Stephanie Harina does an amazing job showing how scary it can be to hide a part of yourself and how freeing it feels to finally be honest. I found myself smiling at the funny moments and pausing during the emotional ones because they felt so relatable. It wasn’t over-the-top or unrealistic—it felt genuine. What I loved most was the message about accepting yourself, even when you think your “secret” makes you different or weird. This book reminded me that everyone has something they’re afraid to share, and that you’re not alone in feeling that way. I finished the book feeling lighter and encouraged, and it stayed on my mind even after I was done reading. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys stories that are meaningful, a little quirky, and full of heart.
✨️I received a copy of this book via the author/publisher & I'm reviewing it voluntarily.✨️
Can I just say that I absolutely loved this book the plot had me from the very beginning, this is very different from what I typically read, but I absolutely love the way the author wrote this book. I had the opportunity of reading the first one, but I definitely fell in love with the second one this time around.
The roles?! when the secret is out and into the mix is Sky who fell for fell in love with who he thought was Janina. I absolutely love family drama, and this book delivered.
Again, this is definitely tailored to a YA audience, but can definitely be read by anyone because it absolutely does get to you.
Omg! I absolutely Loved this book. In the beginning I was so angry at Janina for what she had done to Alynna. Then came Farrah, ugh I didn't like her from the time she walked in. She was so mean, fake and manipulative. But with out those 2 the story wouldn't be as good. The twists with the couples were heartbreaking to read. The story just kept getting better as it went. I was proud of Ynna for sticking up for herself and not completely breaking. There was so much to this book I could go on and on. Just know if you read the first one Dating My Wacky Girlfriend, you have to read this on. So worth the time it took me to finish.
Loved the 2nd book by Stephanie Harina following the story of Alynna and her wealthy half sister Janina who swap roles but when the secret is out and into the mix is Sky who fell for fell in love with who he thought was Janina.
When the truth comes out then things start to get complicated especially when Janina's friends start to pick on Alynna and Sky realises he loves Alynna.
This is great book about relationships and how sometimes you have to fight for what you want.
Would highly recommend.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
First of all thank you so much to Stephanie Harina for my advanced copy of this book. It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to advance read it.
This book is a YA with no spice. However, it was a kick my feet and giggle kind of book. I love everything about this book. I read the first one and enjoyed it but I think I enjoyed this one even more. While this isn't my normal read, I did enjoy it immensely. This is a quick, easy read that will have you smiling when you least expect it. Cozy, cute, warm, and a little giggly.
This is the second book by Stephanie Harina and I am thankful to be able to arc read this. This is a young adult rom-com and no spice. Alynna decides to come clean that she has been living her sisters life. Will they understand or will they remove themselves from Alynna’s life. If you are like a rom-com reader then I suggest you read this. It’s cute and wholesome.
Thank you Stephanie for choosing me to read your second book with an advanced reader copy! I was shockingly surprised that this was a YA but it makes sense because I kicked my feet like a school girl, laughed, cried and this was the perfect ending!!!
I’m so excited to continue on with the characters and see how this series connects!
Second part of Sky and Alynna's story. More teen drama coming up. Unexpected twists and revelations. Some humour mixed in. Must admit had mixed feelings about our couple now and again. Excessive emotions and a bit clingy. Apart from that, on the whole, an enjoyable read- a page turner! Received an ARC from the author.
I’m so glad I was able to read this book so close to the first one. This story had me in its clutches the whole time. There were multiple spots where I thought it was ending, but the author was great at pulling me right back into the story. I’m excited to read Ash’s story!
Great YA book. The story was cute, cozy and funny book. Love the family drama this book gives.
Thank you Stephanie Harina for giving me the opportunity to read this book as well. I loved the first book so much…Dating My Wacky Girlfriend and I love this one too, even more!
