When a 3 AM fire alarm brings them together, the heat between them is anything but false.** Ethan Cole's life is a disaster. He's a struggling artist working as a barista, living in a crappy apartment, and painting his frustrations at 3 AM when his smoke detector decides to have a breakdown. Enter Captain Blake Williams—six feet of authoritative muscle who takes one look at Ethan's painting and sees something everyone else raw talent.

Blake knows he should walk away from the paint-covered artist with anxious eyes and obvious submissive tendencies. But something about Ethan calls to every protective instinct Blake has. One coffee date turns into more, and soon Blake's introducing Ethan to a whole new world of pleasure, dominance, and the kind of care Ethan's been craving his entire life.

As Ethan's art career explodes (thanks to some very intimate portraits of a certain firefighter), their relationship deepens into something neither expected. Blake's commanding presence gives Ethan the safety to be vulnerable in his art and life. Ethan's surrender gives Blake someone worth protecting. But when the art world comes calling with gallery shows and six-figure commissions, will success change everything? Or will the dom who taught Ethan to kneel also teach him to stand tall and claim his worth?

A high-heat MM romance A protective firefighter dom, an anxious artist who discovers submission, found family at the firehouse, best friend shenanigans, way too much paint in inappropriate places, and a relationship that starts with a false alarm but ends with forever.

Content Explicit sexual content, BDSM elements including bondage and praise kink. No cheating, no third act breakup, guaranteed HEA. Standalone contemporary romance novel.

This was fine, but it was way too sweet for me, especially given the BDSM/possessiveness themes. Any challenges the characters faced were resolved too easily be interesting. Jesse was incredibly annoying.
