All the Things I Never Said

Rate this book
Words can wound, but they can also save. All the Things I Never Said is a poetry-memoir born from the private pages of a diary and transformed into a testament of survival. Through raw, lyrical verse, it traces the arc of an abusive relationship and its aftermath—capturing darkness that shatters, clarity that follows, and the long journey toward healing.

These poems confront the realities of emotional and narcissistic gaslighting, isolation, betrayal, and the loss of identity. Yet within the shadows, they also reveal resilience, reclamation, and the quiet power of finding one’s voice again.

Structured in three stages—darkness, clarity, and healing—the collection invites readers to walk alongside the journey as hidden truths come to light. Honest and unflinching, All the Things I Never Said is for anyone who has felt voiceless, diminished, or broken—showing that even what is shattered can rise again.

4.5/5 stars rounded up!

The best way I can describe this book is hauntingly beautiful. The story is raw, relatable, somber, and yet also hopeful. I loved that we were shown the duality of relationships. Addesso was able to show the complexities of loving someone while simultaneously disliking them.

While I wasn’t in an abusive relationship, a lot of other sentiments in her story struck a cord for me. This book certainly had me reflecting on my past history while I was reading.

I thought the flow of this book was incredibly well executed. It felt to me like reading through the stages of grief. I’m so glad that she ended this book in a stage of acceptance and healing.

While this book covered some heavier topics, I thought it was handled in a palatable way. Everyone is different and holds different tolerances, but I thought she wrote these topics carefully.

I think this book deserves more recognition than it currently has. And I hope one day this book and Addesso receives it.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are still my own, as always.

This book didn’t feel like I was reading someone’s story…
It felt like I was sitting inside it. 🖤

All the Things I Never Said isn’t a typical novel — it’s a poetry memoir, a collection of raw emotions poured onto the page. It explores what happens after an abusive relationship — not just the leaving, but the invisible aftermath, the mental rewiring, the grief, and the healing that doesn’t follow a straight line.

Danyelle captures the emotional chaos of an abusive relationship so painfully well — the back-and-forth, the “I love you” and “I don’t love you,” the manipulation, the self-doubt, and the slow, confusing path back to yourself.

As someone who experienced abuse in my early 20s and went through a miscarriage — while still hoping a baby might somehow soften what was happening — this hit in a way I wasn’t prepared for. Wanting something so deeply while being trapped inside something so damaging… the way she writes about loss, pain, and survival felt heartbreakingly familiar. 🫂

Even years later, the feelings don’t just disappear. The quiet grief. The guilt. The healing that comes in waves. This book didn’t just acknowledge that — it honored it.

This isn’t my usual romance or thriller, but I’m so grateful Danyelle trusted me with her story. As a new indie author, she shares her experience with such bravery — not just the abuse itself, but the emotional aftermath and the slow journey toward healing. 🌿

⚠️ Trigger Warning: This book discusses abuse in all forms, miscarriage, trauma, and the process of overcoming and healing. Please take care of yourself while reading 🤍

Reading this felt like she put words to things I never knew how to say out loud.
Raw. Courageous. Necessary. ✨

If you’ve ever had to rebuild after being broken — this one will see you.

A raw, emotional journey through heartbreak and healing

Danyelle really captures the chaotic back-and-forth of a toxic relationship so vividly that I found myself feeling her confusion and heartbreak right along with her. One moment, there’s “I love you,” and the next, “I don’t love you,” mirroring the emotional whiplash that comes from being manipulated by someone you care about.

What stood out most was how honestly she portrayed the cycle of self-doubt and rediscovery. It wasn’t a quick or clean journey to self-love; it was messy, human, and full of truth. By the end, you can feel her strength — not because she’s “over it,” but because she finally chooses herself.

It’s not always an easy read, but it’s an important one — especially for anyone who’s ever lost themselves trying to love someone else.
