Rate this book
Ahana Gujral was never meant to be his bride.

When her sister fled days before the wedding, Ahana became the sacrificial offering to a monster with eyes like ice and a heart carved from stone. Abhimanyu Singhania doesn't forgive betrayal—and in his world, she'll always be the replacement, the second choice, the sister who helped destroy his pride.

One year of marriage. One year of scorching desire wrapped in frost. One year of being an outsider in a family that worships everyone but her.

Then she discovered she was carrying his heir.

The child no one wanted. The baby his mother declared her too weak to raise. The secret that could either chain her to him forever—or destroy them both.

So she ran.

But you can't hide from a man like Abhimanyu Singhania. He turned the world upside down searching for her, his obsession growing darker with each passing day. And when he finally found her in a run-down Delhi flat with their two-month-old son, his rage knew no bounds.

Now she's back in his world, in his bed, under his watchful gaze. He says he wants to try. His son has awakened something human in the monster. But trust is a fragile thing in the mafia, and some betrayals cut too deep to heal.

Can a monster learn to love the woman he was forced to marry?

Or will his darkness consume them all?

A dark, angsty mafia romance with forced proximity, hidden pregnancy, and a possessive anti-hero who will burn the world down for the woman he can't forget.

This was a quick read, and for the first half, I was genuinely interested. The story had a decent setup and enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages.

Unfortunately, the second half didn’t work for me at all. The emotional confusion that should have been explored was largely missing, and many characters felt disconnected or underutilized. There was little meaningful conversation or emotional bonding between the main characters, which made it hard to feel invested in their journey.

The book had potential early on, but the lack of emotional continuity and character connection made it fall short for me.

I gave this book 3 stars because it was better than the author’s previous book. However, it still had many problems that I think should have been addressed.

First, I want to talk about the good parts. I am glad the author made the heroine more normal this time. In the previous book, the heroine had power, attitude, financial independence, and family support, but people still treated her badly, which felt unrealistic. In this book, the heroine was more believable and did not have unnecessary or unrealistic attitudes.

I also liked the hero more than Arnav. He was less weak and actually stood up for his wife. I am especially glad that he bought a separate house and moved there. If someone has money and their family does not respect their wife, the simple solution is to create a new home. I appreciate that he supported her early and did not listen to others. I also liked that the author did not suddenly turn everyone into good people and force a happy family ending like in the previous book.

Now I have some questions.
Kavita said in one chapter that love destroyed her after her husband died and that she even wanted to die with him. Because of that, she decided to raise her sons to be responsible but not too focused on love. If that is the case, then why was she encouraging Nidhi’s love? Love can hurt people, so why is Nidhi’s situation treated differently?

Also, who exactly is Nidhi? Why does she not seem to have a house, family, or anyone of her own? She is always in Kavita’s house. I do not understand why Ahana feels sorry for her. It is not Ahana or Abhi’s fault that Nidhi chose to follow someone who did not love her. Even after knowing he was married, she continued to make Ahana uncomfortable. The author tries to show her as an innocent woman who is just following her heart, but it did not feel convincing to me.

Overall, the book was good in some ways, but Kavita’s extreme behavior made me feel like she needed psychological help.

MOC that ended up being fantastic…

The MMC ends up marrying the other daughter, the beautiful one, because her sister ran out on the marriage agreement. The FMC is absolutely ignored and treated despicably because the sister ran away. The mother is a horrible human and she had already decided that her companion should be who the MMC married. He was NOT interested at all. But the mother kept pushing and eventually she was cut off. And rightfully so, I might add.

KU read and this is really interesting. The blurb is not right. He found her before the baby was born…

In the most kindest & realistic way possible, whoever wrote this book, please stop writing anything immediately.

The characters are bad, the writing is bad, the story is choppy. You gave a wrong synopsis to the readers. Synopsis says she ran away and he found her with their two month old son in a shabby apartment. This doesn’t even happen or touch this thing. He finds her within a month or so after she ran away. She’s 5-6 months pregnant at the time and is on the way to her publisher’s office.

Wonderful plot

The author(s) did an awesome job with this book. It tells the story of pain, forgiveness, love, and commitment. You will get wrapped up in the intensity of the family drama.

The characters are all fierce in their own ways.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. I look forward to reading more from the author(s).

Story in dire need of an editor!

This was a good romance-the story itself a 4 star. But the story needs editing badly. I was expecting green confused if Ahana was having twins or one baby. The author moved back and forth between a baby and “they” were kicking. Not t only confusing but very annoying. Made a different love story a pain to read.
