I gave this book 3 stars because it was better than the author’s previous book. However, it still had many problems that I think should have been addressed.
First, I want to talk about the good parts. I am glad the author made the heroine more normal this time. In the previous book, the heroine had power, attitude, financial independence, and family support, but people still treated her badly, which felt unrealistic. In this book, the heroine was more believable and did not have unnecessary or unrealistic attitudes.
I also liked the hero more than Arnav. He was less weak and actually stood up for his wife. I am especially glad that he bought a separate house and moved there. If someone has money and their family does not respect their wife, the simple solution is to create a new home. I appreciate that he supported her early and did not listen to others. I also liked that the author did not suddenly turn everyone into good people and force a happy family ending like in the previous book.
Now I have some questions.
Kavita said in one chapter that love destroyed her after her husband died and that she even wanted to die with him. Because of that, she decided to raise her sons to be responsible but not too focused on love. If that is the case, then why was she encouraging Nidhi’s love? Love can hurt people, so why is Nidhi’s situation treated differently?
Also, who exactly is Nidhi? Why does she not seem to have a house, family, or anyone of her own? She is always in Kavita’s house. I do not understand why Ahana feels sorry for her. It is not Ahana or Abhi’s fault that Nidhi chose to follow someone who did not love her. Even after knowing he was married, she continued to make Ahana uncomfortable. The author tries to show her as an innocent woman who is just following her heart, but it did not feel convincing to me.
Overall, the book was good in some ways, but Kavita’s extreme behavior made me feel like she needed psychological help.
