I’m most likely biased due to my circumstances, but I really did enjoy this book. I’m a terrible reader and I prefer to do anything else but read. This book was interesting and humorous and deeply poetic. I enjoyed how current this felt and how the dialog made me feel like I talk to people just like this in my everyday. Connection is important and this book inspired me to want to read more and to take reading more seriously.
Autofiction is the expression of a generation doomed to duplicate themselves in all spheres of life; online, in personal relationships, in the psyche, in art. Syntax eludes the common tropes of autofiction—resignation, fuccboy activities, unemployment, etc.—through a genuine spirit and heart. The engine of the spirit in this book is a belief in sincere art. We can only hope it prevails, and hasn’t lost already.
