He’s the charming jokester bound by the bro code to stay away from her.
She’s the brilliant prosecutor who’s carried a torch for him for years.
Together, they have to convince everyone they’re madly in love—and the hardest part is remembering it’s supposed to be fake.
ATTICUS
Playing devoted husband to Brenna Austen—my former roommate’s argumentative little sister—should be just another undercover op. Infiltrate Silicon Valley’s elite, expose military intelligence thieves, keep my hands off my brilliant fake wife. But our cover marriage starts feeling dangerously real, and when evidence threatens her brother’s company, I’ll have to choose between the mission and protecting the woman I never expected to fall for.
BRENNA
Requesting Mason “Atticus” Finch for this undercover operation seemed logical—his protective instincts are perfect for infiltrating dangerous tech executives. Playing his devoted wife while building a federal case should be easy since we’ve been annoying each other for years. But I’m falling for the man I once found insufferably rigid, just as evidence points to my brother’s involvement in treason.
Atticus and Brenna have known each other for years, her brother, Luke, is Atticus' best friend. Now they're working together and trying to ignore the heat between them, not easy when they're undercover as a married couple with only one bed!!! They work really well together their strengths and weaknesses combine. They're working to bring down some men stealing important information. Brenna is a prosecutor and Atticus works with K19 in cyber security. Atticus is worried about telling Luke that they are a couple but events supersede that and Brenna and Atticus encounter an unexpected problem. Can they resolve it together or will they have to work apart?
This is book 5 in the K19 Sentinel Cyber series. I love K19 and the whole world that Heather Slade has created for us. Each adventure and couple add so much to the overall story and excitement of seeing each of these secret heroes find their HEA.
Atticus and Brenna have a long history and a brother and friend between them. This mission will create an unbreakable bond or keep them apart forever. When the unthinkable seems to have happened it will stretch their bond. Can they both find their way to the other side? Atticus and Brenna is really a hidden love finding the right time to shine. I loved getting to know them and watch them struggle to be true to theirselves and the feelings they have.
If you haven’t read any of these books yet this is the perfect one to start with. You will be tracking down teh rest of the series in no time.
Code Name: Atticus is the 5th book in the K19 Sentinel Cyber Series by the AWESOMEST AUTHOR-HEATHER SLADE!!
This book starts out all smooth and kinda fun, then when Brenna chooses Atticus (her brother’s best friend) to help her on a case for the DOJ. (Swoon!) The sparks start to fly . The truth comes out and it is all wine and roses until the real work begins.
In typical Heather Slade fashion she keeps us on our toes and turning those pages. This story has smiles, kisses, laughs, childhood stories, and of course spice and drama and some suspense thrown in. All of this accumulating in ONE HECK OF A STORY!! I seriously could not put this down, but it’s the same feeling I get whenever I read one of Heather’s books.
Thank you so much Heather Slade for all your words!
By what I've seen this is the last book in the K19 Sentinel Cyber, however it's team one that has reached its conclusion. Team two will debut next year. I was looking forward to this book as I liked Atticus in previous books. While this book had its usual suspense and action, it had a very comfortable fee to it. The main characters, Mason "Atticus" Finch, and Brenna Austen have known each other since Atticus' Air Force Academy days when he became friends with her brother. It was just natural for Brenna to request Atticus for an undercover assignment she was working with the DOJ. Afterall they were going to be a married couple. It only took them a few days to figure out they really should be together. However, this investigation and the curve balls that would be thrown at them may tear that idea apart.
This series wraps up with a bang! Brenna has had a crush on Mason "Atticus" Finch since she was a little girl watching her brother's best friend. Atticus refused to acknowledge the attraction to Brenna for years to honor his best friend. Atticus and Brenna are teamed up to bring the international espionage ring down. They must pretend to be married while working on the DOJ case and infiltrate the criminal network. Sparks flare up and boy do they combust between these two.
Their new relationship will be tested as they navigate many mine fields. Corruption, betrayals, false accusations and the many intracacies that involve cyber crimes and treason.
Will these two make a relationship work after the case is over? How will they navigate living in different locations for work? Read this story to wrap up the current cyber case and see how Atticus and Brenna's story is portrayed.
I absolutely loved Atticus & Brenna's story, and so will you. The twists and turns were amazing. Thanks, Heather for writing another amazing story. I can't wait for more.
Heather Slade absolutely nails it again with Code Name: Atticus! From the first page, I was hooked by the sharp tension, sizzling chemistry, and nonstop intrigue. Atticus—the charming, rule-following operative with a heart of gold—meets his perfect match in Brenna, the brilliant and determined prosecutor who challenges him at every turn. Their fake marriage setup is the perfect storm of passion and peril, and Slade writes it with so much depth that you can’t help but root for them both.
The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat—danger, deception, and heart-wrenching choices woven seamlessly into a love story that feels both real and unforgettable. Brenna’s courage and Atticus’s fierce loyalty made their journey completely addictive. By the end, I was breathless, smiling, and immediately ready for a reread.
If you love romantic suspense with intelligence, heat, and heart, Code Name: Atticus is a must-read. Heather Slade delivers a perfectly balanced story of love, loyalty, and high-stakes danger—an absolute standout in the genre!
Heather Slade’s brilliant mind has delivered another intriguing and exciting installment of this series. This time we have Atticus teaming up with Brenna Austen of the DOJ on an undercover assignment where they must pretend to be a newly married couple. Their years-long reciprocal crushes find their way quickly into this arrangement and they soon find themselves not pretending at all when it comes to the feelings they share. They navigate their newly admitted feelings alongside their dangerous mission which becomes more difficult when Luke, Brenna’s brother and Atticus’s former roommate and longtime friend, becomes unknowingly involved. The detail that Ms. Slade brings to her stories always amazes me and this one is no different. She always mixes the perfect amount of humor and romance with her mystery and suspense, and we always get an awesome happy ending. Well done again!
Code Name: Atticus is one heck of a romance with a healthy dose of suspense and intigue thrown in. Brenna Austen and Mason "Atticus" Finch have been circling near yet avoiding each other for years. She is afterall, his best friend's sister so there's the "bro code" to honor. Being paired for an undercover assignment as newlyweds and high dollar investment players was her idea ɓut what ensues is exactly what they both want. He's done with waiting for her. Making her his is priority one. The mission to bring down a major espionage ring requires them to play their roles perfectly and naturally. They're up for the job but the game suddenly changes when an unexpected player is uncovered. Ms. Slade throws a curveball and adds a few twist that really make this book even more compelling to read. Plus she sets up what seems to be a new series offshoot. I can't wait!
Mason/Atticus and Brenna. A best friends younger sister. She has feelings and tried to act on them when they were younger, but Atticus rebuffed her for a few reasons, though attraction was not one. Now they are back and working together undercover as a married couple. They quickly realize emotions are real and the chemistry he denied was a lie. Add in the best friend who shows up and then becomes part of the investigation, supportive families who aren’t surprised by their new status, a fantastic work team, especially either Admiral, Emma, Kodiak, Alice and then Susan Stoker’s Tex and this story had an all star team to take on a massive national security case. The ending was sweet and hinted at possible tension for the next romance with Kodiak, Emma and maybe Brenna’s brother?!?!
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Atticus . I really enjoyed reading it . Code Name: Atticus is another thrilling triumph from Heather Slade! From the very first page, I was completely hooked. It delivers an irresistible mix of intrigue, romance, and heart-stopping suspense that kept me reading late into the night.
Beyond the romance, the espionage and high-stakes drama are masterfully woven together. Heather is able to balance action and passion with perfect precision, creating a story that’s as intelligent as it is addictive.
Heather Slade continues to prove she’s one of the best in romantic suspense. Code Name: Atticus is an unforgettable ride that delivers everything fans could hope for: danger, devotion, plot twists, and a love story worth fighting for.
Atticus continues Heather Slade’s journey into the SS world. From the very first page, she captures her reader’s attention with suspense. I did not want to put this book down as we uncovered DOJ Brenna’s case with the help of Atticus and the K19 Sentinel Cyber team. Atticus will also soon learned that keeping his distance of his best friend’s sister will be harder than he thought with their undercover fake marriage. Atticus and Brenna will tango around each other and once they collide, it’s absolute magic. I loved their chemistry. Even piecing together the clues, the twist still got me! I can’t wait to see what Kodiak will have for us.
Code name: Atticus is a such a great book! I absolutely loved reading this suspenseful romance! If you like books where they go undercover for a mission you'll love this! It kept you interested and oh the romance! It was so intense from the start. I love how Atticus and Brenna had such depth to their story and background. I literally had to know what happened next! Then they happen apon her bother during her undercover mission! Which could blow the whole thing! You have to read what happens! Its surprising, incredibly interesting, romantic and another fantastic read by the author.
Such a brilliant book! Fast paced, loads of action, tension and a terrific romance.
K9 Cyber team operator Atticus must go undercover as newly weds with Agent Brenna Austen.
Atticus is best friend's with Brenna's brother so they have history. Her crush on Atticus for years didn't put her off requesting his help on this assignment but the passion was still there and only grew.
Both knew what they were getting into. Both true professionals but also only human.
Written in a easy read style. Definitely a must read and a romance in glad I didn't miss. Fantastic book!
Code Name: Atticus is book 5 in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha, K19 Sentinel Cyber series by Heather Slade and another awesome read!
Up next is Mason “Atticus” Finch and his friend, Luke’s sister, Brenna Austen. Brenna requested for Atticus to work undercover with her and they are to be fake married in order to infiltrate the thieves who are getting military secrets…lies, secrets, hidden feelings, heart pounding suspense and finding love they weren’t expecting.
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A federal prosecution investigation required the main characters to fake a marriage and try to convince their suspects to accept them into their circle. If successful, Brenna Austen and Mason "Atticus" Finch could gather enough evidence for a conviction. However, an unexpected twist occurred. Even though Brenna and Atticus expressed their love for one another, the twist caused their relationship to be placed on hold. Can they work their way back together and get their HEA?
What a wonderful read, just loved this story! Atticus and Brenna’s journey started out years before when Atticus was her brother best friend. When they are brought together again years later to work a case, which includes a fake marriage the sparks begin to fly. The deeper they go into the twist and turns of this case the more their relationship doesn’t seem so fake. How this all works out is a real page turning read right till the very end.
Absolutely loved Atticus and Brenna's story and got a hoot out of them having to pretend to be a married couple which has been an unintended great way to match other agents in the past. As with every mission I was kept on my toes with what information they find out, as well as the danger hidden in the shadows and that they see however we also get attraction, some laughs as well as some answers the K19 Sentinel Cyber team and others have been looking for.
The best part of a Heather Slade novel is the treasure hidden within. From the drama of life, the heartache of romance and the intrigue that litters the shadows, Code Name: Atticus dares to expose it's characters at their most vulnerable. Attic us and Brenna give the senses a jolt with a breathtaking, heartbreaker of a story.
An intriguing read for this K19 Sentinel Cyber series. A nice surprise at the end as well. Atticus and Brenna have history and it takes front and center in their assignment. Another smooth read by Ms. Slade. Attitucs new down to the minute and seconds how long he's loved Brenna. A fascinating topic of espionage as well. All in all a great read to escape to.
WHEW…grab this edge of your seat, heart racing, romantic suspense that leads Brenna & Atticus on a journey of finding the love they’ve always wanted in the middle of an undercover case filled with lies, corruption, who do you trust, and a betrayal that could tear them apart! Loved it!!♥️♥️♥️
Exciting and intriguing! Espionage, under cover work and attraction between the ‘undercover’ agents. This one definitely kept me guessing right up until the end. Atticus and Brenna are a great couple! Loved it!
Code Name: Atticus is the 5th and final book in this series, but can easily be read and enjoyed as a standalone. Brenna and Atticus' story is the perfect blend of romanne and suspense, emotions and action, with a few surprises thrown in as well. A great read!
Atticus and Brenna's book was great. I loved the combination of action and romance that the author crafted because it offered the perfect balance of thrills and feels to grab my attention, get my pulse racing and melt my heart.
There's nothing I love more than an intelligent, action-packed love story and this one is a stellar example of why that is. The writing is, as always, top-notch, delivering an unforgettable story with non-stop intrigue and a deeply emotional romance.
Mason (code name Atticus) is paired with federal prosecutor Brenna (the sister of one of his closest friends) to infiltrate the Silicon Valley elite to find out who is manipulating defense contracts. Right from the start their chemistry threatens to derail their mission as they both have trouble drawing the line between their cover stories and their hearts. Just as you start to think they've worked through all their obstacles, the investigation takes a surprising turn that nearly undermines all their progress.
I absolutely adored these characters! Mason's deep integrity and loyalty is surely tested throughout the events, and I loved how he balanced his heart with his convictions, never betraying either. Brenna is a strong leading force, one who is more than a match for Atticus in every way, and she stays true to both family and justice even when it seems impossible.
This was one of my favorite books by this author and I could not have loved it more. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for thrilling romantic suspense.
Code Name: Atticus is book 5 in the K19 Sentinel Cyber series and covers the story of Atticus and Brenna. They team up to go undercover to try to gain evidence that is desperately needed to shut down a ring of traitors selling U. S. government intelligence secrets to the highest bidder. Another great book by Heather Slade, although I got kinda lost in the technical aspect of this novel. 5 stars
Knowing that the woman he loves is his best friend's little sister sets rules into place that should never be crossed. She knows what she wants and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it, and that includes upsetting her big brother. But when things go awry and her big brother gets into a mess, will what they have hold true? Atticus and Brenna are well written, and the chemistry you see between them as you get into this book. I devoured this book and absolutely loved it.
