There is far more going on in the small town of Ashwood than anyone realizes, and Allie McCarthy, like the town itself, is caught between mortal earth and Fairy, with treachery on both sides. Allie is struggling to pick up the pieces as the police investigation into a series of ritual killings contniues to wreak havoc in her life. She has lost one friend to a serial killer and seen another shot trying to protect her as the people behind the rituals work to get her out of the way. Meanwhile her own empathic gift - which may be the key to stopping the killings - is controlling her more than she controls it. In seeking training for her gift Allie may be forced to accept that defining good and evil isn't as simple as she wants it to be. Facing betrayal at the deepest level and with her own life hanging in the balance, this time Allie has to be sure that the conspiracies are rooted out and stopped, once and for all. No matter what the cost.
My name is Morgan Daimler. I have had my poetry and prose published in different places including various anthologies, Circle magazine, Witches and Pagans magazine and Pagan Dawn magazine. I am the author of the urban fantasy series Between the Worlds and (through Cosmic Egg Books) the high fantasy novel Into Shadow. I've written more than a dozen non-fiction works through Moon Books including Fairy Witchcraft, Pagan Portals: the Morrigan, Fairies: A Guide to the Celtic Fair Folk, A New Dictionary of Fairies, and Pagan Portals Aos Sidhe
Well, Morgan....that was a very satisfying ending. Fans, you need to read the other two books in the series to understand this one. However, I have, so no problem there.
Honestly, I knew who the insider was in the middle of the second book, so that wasn't a surprise. It was the romance that proved to be in most interesting mystery. Which fabulous looking elf will win her affections. Do you think I'm going to tell you? yeah right...not.
The entire trilogy was great. I loved it. Thanks for a great read.
Bad punctuation and quite a lot of errors, like in the previous books. I am amazed to read things like 'you're father' instead of 'your father' and this normally puts me off reading the book containing those errors. Luckily, the story of Allie is quite captivating, so I enjoy it anyway. But I am still very surprised by all the errors and the missing punctuation (the author seems to hate commas most of all), since none of this shows in her Pagan Portals-books. I guess those are edited and these aren't? Hard to say...
What a great addition to my "Otherworld October" TBR. In the interest of keeping my review spoiler-free, I will say this series keeps getting better and better. Morgan did a great job of building the foundation and now that we have a pretty good understanding of the world and characters they've introduced us to, I can't wait to see where this leads.
I really hope that will not be the last time we hear from Morgan Daimler and this world she built. If you haven't read the first two books in this series then please do before you read this one. This was certainly a great ending to this trilogy. The main plot was closed BUT there are still questions to be answered about people and their place in this world so I hope this means my wishes will be fulfilled and the series continues beyond this story.
Last one moved too slowly all to build up to a threeway polyamourous relationship that really didn't move the story along and it sagged under it's own weight
