Well, I didn’t think it would happen, but today marks the first time I’ve dropped a light novel with absolutely no intention of ever picking it back up in English.
Distorted I Love You by Yoru Sumino is literal brain rot in English. The clowns at Seven Seas Entertainment must’ve had someone who still thinks “6-7” is funny localizing this garbage. The sheer amount of cringey dialogue and overused Gen Z slang made it painful to read.
I’m going to buy the raw just to see how much the localization changed, because this is a disgrace.

Really fond of this book, I loved it
Review of advance copy received from Publisher
Sumino can be a bit hit or miss for me, and this was closer to the latter. I appreciated what it was doing, but the execution felt lacking.
