Really fond of this book, I loved it

Well, I didn’t think it would happen, but today marks the first time I’ve dropped a light novel with absolutely no intention of ever picking it back up in English.
Distorted I Love You by Yoru Sumino is literal brain rot in English. The clowns at Seven Seas Entertainment must’ve had someone who still thinks “6-7” is funny localizing this garbage. The sheer amount of cringey e-girl like dialogue and overused Gen Z slang made it painful to read.
After reading the Japanese version it’s clear that Seven Seas Entertainment overly localized the story and introduced scenes and narratives just to match the interest of young teens. As a whole the Japanese version was decent maybe 3.5 stars to be honest. However, the English slop that was published is a disgrace to Yoru Sumino’s name and the actual book.

Sumino can be a bit hit or miss for me, and this was closer to the latter. I appreciated what it was doing, but the execution felt lacking.
