Le problème des frontières du flou n'est pas celui des limites, mais plutôt des seuils, et qu'il évolue avec le temps, l'histoire et la vie. Les frontières sont vivantes, le flou aussi, il dépend d'un vivant : le récepteur ou bien le créateur ?
François Soulages is a French art critic and aesthetician, specialising in the aesthetics of photography.
n 1993, he defended a doctoral thesis at the Sorbonne directed by Gilbert Lascault on the Philosophy of contemporary photography1.
Since 2000, he has been a professor of aesthetics in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Paris VIII2. He heads the EA 4010 "Arts des Images & Art contemporain" team at the University of Paris VIII.
He chairs the Collège iconique3 with Jean-Michel Rodes and Serge Tisseron as well as RETINA.International. Within this framework, he organises numerous colloquiums throughout the world as well as "cafés-philo" in Paris.
His book Esthétique de la photographie (1998) has been translated into several languages.
In 2007, he founded the collection "L'Image & les images" published by Klincksieck.
In 2015, he organised seminars at the INHA.
He also directs or co-directs several editorial collections, "EIDOS" and "Local/Global" at L'Harmattan, Paris.
He has been interested in Brazilian culture for several years now.
