Menopause and Mayhem: A Twilight Witches Mystery

Rate this book
Fifty-two-year-old Ivy Lane thought her biggest problems were hot flashes, empty-nest syndrome, and an ex-husband who traded her in for a yoga-pants-wearing dental hygienist. Then her morning coffee started showing visions, her knitting needles began to hum, and members of the local knitting circle vanished in a puff of fuchsia light.

Welcome to Starview—where nothing is ordinary, and menopause is downright magical.

Drawn into a coven of equally chaotic midlife witches, Ivy learns her symptoms are actually supernatural gifts. Together they must unravel a mystery of missing knitters, enchanted artifacts, and a sinister force rewriting the town’s history—all while juggling brain fog, hot flashes, and an alarming number of tea cozies.

Quirky, heartwarming, and laugh-out-loud funny, Menopause and Mayhem is a cozy paranormal mystery about finding magic—and family—when life feels most unraveled. Perfect for fans of Nancy Warren’s Vampire Knitting Club and Deanna Chase’s Witches of Keating Hollow.

A wonderful, cozy mystery that I absolutely could not put down!

Menopause and Mayhem is an insightful and heartfelt look into the life of a woman rediscovering and redefining herself as she goes through “the change” and life changes… with some magic and mayhem thrown into the mix. (Because, let's face it, menopause would be so much cooler and a lot more fun if it came with powers.)
The characters are wonderfully rich and well-developed. The Twilight Witches feel like they could walk right off the page and into your kitchen for a cup of tea, some knitting, and a bit of a laugh about the little absurdities of life. The relatability of the characters made this a truly enjoyable read, as I could sympathize with a group of women “of a certain age” looking to find their place in the world amidst all of the changes going on around them, to feel seen and important, and despairing of a beige life. I could see bits of myself and my friends in the coven members as they build new friendships, face hardships, and band together to use their abilities to solve the mystery and save their town.
The book is excellently paced with great background and character development, but enough excitement to have you holding your breath as you wait to see what happens next. LeeAnn Hively has built a rich little world for her characters that is full of humor, compassion, quirkiness, and potential. This is the best new book I have read in quite some time, and I am looking forward to what the next adventure holds for our Twilight Witches. The beauty of the group is that they are seemingly ordinary women with extraordinary abilities, often manifesting through the most mundane (and sometimes embarrassing) symptoms of menopause, reminding us that life, like magic, is rarely what you expect.
I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries, cozy comfort stories, those things witchy and supernatural, or simply stories of women coming together supporting one another.

This book is a fun and cozy mystery! I love how it takes something as real and challenging as menopause and turns it into something magical, empowering, and even funny. As a person who is ready for the change, I enjoyed this fantasy. The main character, Ivy, is relatable as she deals with all the ups and downs of midlife (That ex-husband, ugh) while discovering she has magical powers. The author does a great job blending humor, mystery, and heart into every chapter with her writing. This was great for her first book!

The friendships between the women were my favorite parts. Their bond felt natural and real, like women you could sit down and gossip with while trying to solve a magical mystery book. I was hooked on the world of Starview with its charm and mystery. The witches made it so fun.

This story reminds you that it’s never too late to rediscover yourself or find your magic again. If you love cozy paranormal mysteries, found family, and strong, funny women learning to embrace change, read this book.

Must read Menopausal Magic!

This book is a beautifully written, engaging triumph that turns the "change of life" into something genuinely magical.
I never thought I’d view hot flashes as anything but uncomfortable. Hively expertly weaves a refreshing, empowering, and supernatural twist into the menopause experience. This perspective shift alone makes the book worth reading.
The writing quality shines; sentences are eloquently laced for a smooth, captivating flow. The well-developed characters are instantly relatable, feeling like friends you're rooting for.
As someone who struggles with ADHD and difficulty focusing, I was completely hooked by this mystery. I had to finish it! It's the perfect escape that silences the noise.
Funny, empowering, and brilliantly crafted, this book offers an awesome new perspective on life's inevitable changes. Highly recommend!

Honestly, this was the book I didn't know I needed. To say it was engaging doesn't do it justice. I was immediately invested in these characters, and for any woman at "that stage of life", I love how the symptoms and challenges we experience are turned into super powers. It's really empowering! I loved the twist at the end.

I read this book in one day. I can't wait for the sequel (please let there be a sequel)!
