At eight years old, Dora Culligan's world shattered the night her brother Tommy died. Her family called it suicide. They told her to move on. Forget.
But at fourteen, Dora can't forget. Shards of memory cut through her-blood, screams, a gun she shouldn't have seen. Every time she grasps for the truth, her family tightens the story, rewriting her past until she doubts her own mind.
Was Tommy's death what they said it was-or something far more dangerous?
Trigger is a haunting psychological thriller about memory, manipulation, and the devastating lies families tell to survive.
How far would you go to protect the people who mean everything to you!!!
I really liked that Jenifer include trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, allowing reader to decide if it’s the book for them!! This book has quite a few trigger warnings included suicide childhood trauma, emotional abuse and some very disturbing family dynamics.
I liked that the book was set out in past and present day, and included pieces of information about each of her family members. There were many twists and turns nearer the end of the story and found myself being drawn in, and I couldn’t distinguish between the truth and the lies!! It kept me guessing until the end.
Every time I thought I could predict what would happen next, the author shattered my expectation. This story winds its way through complex family trauma, dysfunction, and heartbreak, building slowly to a jaw-dropping, never-saw-it-coming ending. It's a raw, emotional, suspenseful read that haunted me for days after I finished reading it.
I just finished reading "Trigger." I couldn't put it down and stayed up a few hours past my bed time! I thought I predicted the ending, and then the book took another gripping turn. Well written, Jenifer's style had me hooked at the beginning. If you like psychological thrillers, this book is a must read!
