Brief summary A book of common counting rhymes that are classics. Going to St. Ives, One two buckle my shoe, Gregory Griggs, Eeny, meeney, money, mo, Nick back paddywack and several other lesser known rhymes.
Annotation This has some classic rhymes that children might enjoy, even if they cannot really understand their context.
Age appropriateness this is good for 0-7. Because I think these are easy to put in memory and then share with children. It would not be difficult to play with these rhymes in a storytime or if parents are memorizing them, they can repeats them in the car or shen they are grocery shopping to help with vocabulary and phonological awareness.
Opinion - This book is okay, I think that the historical cultural significance maybe be lost on this generation of parents and readers. This book would be good to keep that alive. The I would use this more as a book to memorize and share with children during storytime. Some rhymes have extended verses that might lose a childs interest. The pictue are cute, but small and not really remarkable.
