"Do you know how long it takes a person to die once their body’s engulfed in flames?
Four minutes."
Hope was the cruelest thing I ever carried. It told me if I was quiet enough, obedient enough, lovely enough, I could be more than a Doll. But my starting price was a billion dollars, and now I'm Creed.
Three men and me. Sharpened into weapons. Hollowed out into machines. Sold as death incarnate. Any contract with Creed attached meant someone was bound to burn alive.
We were taught to carve the humanity out of ourselves until nothing remained but what our buyers wanted. Submission was survival in our world, but bodies have a way of cataloging hurt, even when we beg them to forget.
And mine is so bruised, so broken and stitched, blood leaking from every crevice of my soul that I simply must confess this to you—all that Creed did—we did.

Coming from someone not so easily impressed, READ THIS RIGHT NOW.
Actually, to warn you, this is NOT a story for the faint of heart…or stomach.
So, take a deep breath, read the trigger warnings, CAREFULLY, and dive in.
This is achingly traumatic, and in moments extra tender and so very, unapologetically, raw.
The ending is a whopping cliffhanger, and also doesn’t make a lot of sense, but I’m confident in this author to get us there in book 2.
Note: there IS s*exually explicit content in this (in addition to SA), but it’s not the hot and fun kind; it’s tender and very very emotional between MCs.
✔️ Strong & Resilient FMC ✔️ Protective, loyal MMCs ✔️ Contract-to-hire killers, but not by choice ✔️ Found Family ✔️ GUT WRENCHING VERY DARK THEMES
⚠️⚠️⚠️ TW: R*pe (a lot of it), torture, violence, child abuse…the list goes on so BE MINDFUL.

There’s a trigger warning for “emotional destruction” from the author. Apparently I’m a masochist, so here we are!
this book was dark, gut wrenching, and beautifully written. this is a deeply, deeply dark book, one i would’ve never imagined myself reading. check your trigger warnings- look out for yourself. please. the topics are insanely heavy and this book is not meant to be romanticized. while yes, there’s a beautifully tragic love story, that’s the least of what this book is about. if you have the stomach for it (which believe me, i didn’t and had to put it down a few times) i would recommend. i was going to put a pause on this book because of how deep it was, but i couldn’t because it was so well crafted and like nothing i’ve read before. it dealt with all the topics in a way that was real and raw. other than this, the plot was so interesting and had me hooked, which i feel so awful for even saying because of the topics addressed, but it reeled me in. i’ll remember this book for a long time.
3.75 stars- I highkey really enjoyed this? There were a few spelling errors which kinda threw me off. The plot was acc really dark which was different for me but it wasn’t awful. It was such a short and quick read and lowkey the ending is really good. Also love the man love interest!
For starters this book is very emotional and heartbreaking. You get to see the main character progressivly have to fight to survive throughout the book and read through all of the absolute tourcher of the hands of men. She had someone by her side for most of the time which was Leah. Leah became Ardens handler when Viktor had Leah work along side of Arden. She made sure she was dolled up like she should be for when the men came and used and this was a routine for the both of them and Arden was glad she had someone to be by her side throughout the pain she had to endure.
When she hit the age of 16 she had Leah ask Viktor to help steal cars and work with the other team members. Viktor saw the opportunity and to get more money in his pocket and let her join the team but still sold her to men during the day when she stole the cars at night. One night Arden got a task to steal a certain car so when they rode their bikes down to where they steal their cars and do their tasks. A guy that was on the team named Thorne which was one of the guys that had to fight in the court yard. He gave her a task to get a car but Arden wanted to show to Viktor that she was more than just a Doll for him to use. So when she got a higher branded car a cop started to chase her and then she crashed and Thorne had to pull Arden out of the car and get them out of the cops view. When he gets her to safety he tells her to do her job and don't keep messing the jobs up and all she will ever be is a Doll. Then the weeks after that she started to steal higher brand cars and showing Viktor that she was useful.
Then one night Thorne told Arden that she was riding with him and Arden didn't understand why she had to when she was doing a good job at getting cars by herself since she wasn't allowed to go with Leah. So they get on the bike and they ride outside of the gates and went into a unknown place farther away than where they steal cars at. When they get to where Thorne picks and they stop, he gets off the bike and just stands there for a few minutes. Arden gets off the bike and stands there with a hand on her lighter which she stole from Viktor. Thorne goes and sits on top of a rock and sits and looks at the moon and then looks at Arden. She goes and sits down on the rock beside of him and he asks her questions which makes her guarded. When he tells her the only reason why Viktor is letting her work with the team is to make her more valuable and worth more money than selling her, she starts to run and she is crying because she wanted to be more than just a Doll and not be used. Thorne catches up to her and tries to comfort her and tell her he was just warning her.
Arden then asks if he only brought her out into that wooded area to just use her as well and she could see it on his face that that's what he wanted to do. But Thorne wanted to explain that he wanted to feel something other than being just a tool for Viktor. Arden understands this so she steps closer to Thorne and he starts to hold her jaw with his hand and look at her. Then he tells her he likes her curls and her freckles and really looking at her. Arden starts to feel something inside her ship and she lets him get closer. Then she kisses him and he falls into her and continues to kiss her deeper and holding her even when it started to rain on them and they still held eachother close until Thorne had to pull away to catch a breath but he still stayed close to her and held her because they both needed that emotions and feelings in that moment since they felt like they were just tools to just be used and never actually have a real life.
After this had happened they started to be with eachother more and more behind Viktors back until one of his staff saw the two together and snitched on them. After that they had to go to a room and they got beat for going behind his back even though he didn't care that Arden was doing this if she still came to him at 9 Pm everynight to his room for him to use her as well. So Arden and Thornes relationship gets stronger until Thorne tells Arden that he wants to fight in the court yard to earn his place and show that he can be useful like his brother and work along side his brother because his brother was being bought and used and kept coming back more and more broken and looking more dead inside. Arden told Thorne that she also wanted to join the team and prove herself and he didn't want that to happen but the next day she walked out to the court yard with a switch blade she stole and she walked over to the group of people that fought in the court yard. The people she walked up to were known to be the deadliest people to fight and they were the most sold to the buyers. There was Kane, and then there was Rafe. Rafe Creed was the strongest and the most used out of all of them. She told Creed that she wanted to fight and prove that she was more than a Doll and he stood and looked at her for a few minutes and then he took her Switch blade and switched it out to a play knife and called a guy over for Arden to fight. When she started to fight the first guy and she won she had to fight more and more boys until there wasn't many more left and she was lying on the pavement bloody and bruised where she couldn't get up. When she was laying there Thorne came and got by her side to check on her and make sure she wasn't severly hurt. But Creed took her face into his hand and was looking into her eyes with his that were having a look that she didn't understand. He sat there for a few minutes until Thorne cleared his throat and he let her face go. She then had to fight to get herself up and wanted to fight the rest of the boys but Thorne disagreed but she still fought and she won somehow but she felt a sense of ecomplishment.
Viktor saw that she was cabable of fighting so he had buyers want to buy her but it came with a cost. Creed had to come but it would cost about 500k more with the cost that she was being sold for. When they got sold to a buyer all three of the memebers and her got bought for billions and had to go work for the buyer for over a year. When Arden was about to get into the limo that was coming to pick them up to go to the jet, Leah came out and was begging Arden not to go and not to leave her with Viktor. Arden promised her that she will be back for her and get her away from Viktor when she got back and Leah was crying but understood and hugged Arden and Arden didn't want to leave but if she looked back at Leah before leaving she would have stayed.
When she got into the limo she sat between Thorne and Kane and Throne put his arm around her and was settling in and Creed sat on the opposite side holding a drink in his hand and looking at Arden and Arden looked back trying to understand but then she got closer to Thorne while he had fallen asleep and Creed continued to look at her and she looked back and held eye contact but then he leaned back and closed his eyes and relaxed for a few seconds and then he was back to being tensed. They all got comfortable and waited till they got to the jet.
Once they got onto the jet they all boarded and they were on their way to their next mission and to where the buyer was. When they landed and they opened the jets door all Arden could feel was the crisp cold air and she looked back at Thorne and they stood there for a few seconds and got off of the jet. They were met with black vans and soldiers lined up to escort them and Arden could tell this was the first time any of them had to work this way for a mission but they all followed the soldiers and when they opened the doors to the building it blinded Arden for how shiney it was. They got ushered in and they had to stand in a line. When they saw the person who bought them they all just stood there unsure. Until he spoke and told them his name which was Halden and they all were told to strip down to nothing and they got their pictures taken and then their mouths swabbed. But for Arden and Creed they got the most pictures rather than Kane and Thorne. The guards made them turn around and made them hold onto the wall and they cut a insision onto the back of their necks and put a device in and sewed it up. Arden was freaking out and asked what they put into her but then the soldiers told them to hush and put them back into their line so he could finish his introduction.
After he was done introducing himself he gave them grey clothing to change into and the soldiers sent them to a jail cell look alike that had 2 bunk beds for each of them to stay in. They all picked their beds and then Arden wanted to talk but Kane told them to get some sleep since they don't know what kind of work Hadlen had for them for the next day. So Arden went and layed down on the bottom bunk and Thorne layed on top and Kane on top on the other side and then Creed which his name is Rafe. But the they all had tattooes that said Creed because that was what the team was called. But Arden had a tattoo which said Doll because Viktor marked his branding on her to show that he still owned her. But she wanted to get the Creed tattoo to show she was strong and more powerful then what he made her be and not to be his Doll anymore. Once Arden fell asleep she felt someones hand go over her mouth and she was about to scream until she saw Kane and he took his hand off of her mouth and told her to not yell in her sleep and she told him she couldn't help it but she will lay on her stomach so it would muffle it. Then when she driffed back off to sleep she was having a nightmare again and then she felt something warm hold her hand and she eased down because it gave her a sense of safety .
When she woke up she saw Kane sitting on the floor holding her hand and he was laying her head on her bed and she didn't know if she should let go of his hand or just stay there until he looked up at her and let her hand go. He was watching the door so he knew she was safe. Which she wanted to know about but he told her to quiet down because he showed her a red light that was in the room. So they whispered until she fell back to sleep and they got woken up to the guards bardging in to the cell and told them to get ready. They all were separated and Arden had to go to a take full of water which she had to get into a clear casket and try to excape but if she didn't she would have drowned. When they put her into the casket and put restraitnts onto her, they lowered her into the water and set a timer for 2 mintues. When she started to feel the water rise in the casket she started to thrash against the chaines and thinking about how to dislocate her fingers to get out but she couldn't do it like Kane did but she still tried. When she was working on the binding and she saw Creed standing beside Handle watching her see if she can get out and then she dislocated her fingers on one side of her hand and then the other and she got her hands free and then she worked on her feet to get free. Once she got completly free she had to find a way out fo the glass casket then she looked up and saw Creed showing her to bash her body weight into the glass, once she did it broke and she got out of the body of water and was chocking up the water. Then the buyer told the guards to take her to confinement . Once they threw her in there even though she was still soaking wet she was met with complete darkness and she thought she was by herself until she heard a noise across the room and then a second later she felt hands go around her thoat and start to choke her and she knew the person was going to kill her.
Then she stopped and thought about who the person could be and then she realized it was Creed and she had to think of ways to show that it was her. Since when they first got to the base she figured out that Creed was deaf and couldn't hear anything that was going and he went off of reading lips and vibrations. So she tapped on his arm and started tracing letters to show that it was her. When he realized he let her go and she started asking him questions and he would answer with one tap for no and two taps for yes. (to be continued)

I’ve just had my gut ripped out 20 times in 200 pages!
Arden is going to go full rage and I’m absolutely here for it. Kane is a sweetheart, as is Thorne. Rafe is breaking my heart. On to book two, immediately.
Highlights
That look—that assumption that I’d fold—lit something savage in me.
I wasn’t becoming a Creed. I already was one. Viktor had just called me Doll instead.
It was then I realized, despite living near his orbit for over a decade, that it wasn’t that Rafe Creed didn’t want to talk; it was that he couldn’t hear.
“Mr. Halden,” he growled. “If you could so kindly send a fucking medic, your billion dollar asset is bleeding out all over the floor, and let me assure you—if Arden Creed dies, so will you.”
Kane had thought briefly to kill me, and it’d made him the smartest person in that cell.
“If the choice is to use me or lose a Creed, fucking use me. Promise it. Just do what Halden wants and we’ll get the fuck out of here.”
It was him. It had always been him.
Any kiss was a gun in that fucking place, and we’d all just riddled ourselves with bullets by letting Rafe Creed's heart reach toward mine.
Any kiss was a gun in that fucking place, and we’d all just riddled ourselves with bullets by letting Rafe Creed's heart reach toward mine.
The walls he had up melted, his lips curving with a relieved grin. You’re always welcome in my bed, beautiful. You don’t need to ask. Beautiful. He'd called me beautiful.
There's beauty in the dark. At least, I fucking hope there is. Otherwise, what's the point of all the pain and suffering? The point? I heaved a sigh. To make rich men richer.
As long as you're here, alive, with me—that's enough. You've been mine to protect for as long as I can remember, and I'll die before I let go of you. So no, Arden, I know exactly what I said and I meant it.
If we ever find a space between hells again, he signed, every movement sharp with his determination and love, you won't venture into the next one without a ring on that finger.

I’m calling it now: this deserves to blow up and I think it will. It takes so much talent to write something this dark and yet have the person reading it yearning for more. I saw a TikTok video for it and tried it on a whim seeing there were only 10 reviews. DO IT. READ IT. BUT CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS!!!! This isn’t your typical dark romance where the dark is the spice or a morally grey bad boy. The dark is ACTUALLY dark scenarios and an extremely horrible but somehow captivating plot. I felt the same way reading this as I did reading A Little Life or Alchemised or Flock (if you know you know). I can’t stop thinking about Arden and I’ve never fallen for side characters in the way I have with this book. I need book 2 immediately but also I’ve no plan to rush it for the author. Whatever magic they cooked into this, I want it in the sequel too so take your time girl but also…GIMME. I’ll beta read, arc read, whatever you need!
Oh my god. This story was heartbreaking, full, and REAL, even if I couldn't fathom living this life. All of the characters were real - living people surviving in the worst of the worst. How do I even begin to describe this story? The plot was THICK, the twists and turns so heartstopping. I have never read a book that sucked me in this fast. Each chapter being a confession was captivating. The end was SUCH a shock, I almost hollered. They all deserve so much better, even the ASL teacher.
This is an amazing book. To follow the heartbreaking story and at each step hold so much hope that maybe they will catch a break but to be utterly rocked with more pain and suffering is astounding. I genuinely felt so much emotion hoping just for once Arden wouldn’t be hurt. I am genuinely so emotionally wrecked from watching Arden go through so much along with Rafe, Kane, and Thorne. This is a understated masterpiece
This book was truly terrible, like nightmare fuel meets sadness meets absolute absurdity. You don’t want to ever imagine what Odessa writes in this book and that’s what makes reading it so cruel. It is truly the worst of the worst, yet it is written so well and is so captivating and almost hopeful that I couldn’t stop reading no matter how sick I felt over what these characters were going through. It’s haunting, and I am on the edge of my seat for the next book.
The book just flowed so nicely, it felt like I was watching a HD movie in my head 😂. This book was amazing, gut wrenching but amazing and not for the faint of heart, it started off bad for these characters and it got worse and then it got worser. I usually don’t read book series that are not completed because I can’t do the waiting but I did it for this and now I regret it as I have to wait for the second.
I read it in one sitting. Very traumatic, but stayed for the found family. I am really hoping for some kind of happy ending for the Creed, but who knows. Also, I am not sure what is going on in the very first chapter because I kind of felt like that was forgotten by the end of the book. There was no call back to it. Anyways, I am looking forward to the next book and seeing where it goes.
The perfect mix of darkness, heartbreak, hope and shock. The characters are written in a way that they take on life of their own and you can feel their emotions with each word you read. This book is absolutely going to live rent free in my head forever
seriously such a gut wrenching read and the writing style is so wonderfully done i just had to finish it. i would definitely read the second book because i need to know what kind of ending the CREED family will have!!!
This book is DARK, the whole time my brain was in shambles… this book is very very good but please read the warning beforehand this is not a funny story! I need to read book 2 if there is one if not SHE NEEDS TO GET TO WRITING!
Amazing! This book had me completely on edge and hooked. I could not put it down. There is so much heartache and pain with a mixture of hope. The ending was the perfect twist. Seriously need more of these characters!!!
I absolutely loved everything about this book. The characters, how it’s written and the CLIFFHANGER!! I read this book in a day and immediately need a second one.
honestly ‘fucked up’ is too tame of a term for what this book is. What’s also fucked up is that it’s an unfinished series and I went into it thinking it was a stand alone.
Crushed my soul, put it back together to crush it again and repeat the process. The trauma that these characters experience is intense. I couldn’t put it down. I am anxiously waiting to see where the story goes and how the characters grow. I’m scared to read more but I can’t wait at the same time.
