A fresh start. That's what I'm calling this. New town, new house, new hair salon. New life where nobody knows that my ex--the father of my four-year-old daughter--slept with my best friend.

The one complication? Struan Walker. The gorgeous, charming, annoyingly good-with-his-hands builder fixing up my salon. And, as fate would have it, my new next-door neighbour.

Sexy man bun, cheeky grin, broad shoulders built for lifting…

What? No, of course I haven't imagined him lifting me.

Anyway, the man is helpful too, irritatingly so. Fixes things without being asked. Catches me when I fall off chairs. Soothes my daughter's meltdowns in thirty seconds flat.

Plus he's funny. And a devoted single father. And very, very flirty.

And that's the problem. The absolutely colossal, oh-dear-God problem. Because men like Struan? They're used to women falling for them. And judging by the looks he gets around town, plenty already have.

As for me, I learnt the hard way what trusting the wrong man can do, and I will not make the same mistake again. I refuse to let Struan slip past the walls I've put up around myself.

But the more time I spend with him, the harder it is to pretend I'm not tempted to risk everything I came here to rebuild…

---

Built for Love is the second book in the Scottish Single Dads series of interconnected standalones.

Perfect for fans of reverse grumpy × sunshine, next-door-neighbour tension, and blue-collar Scottish single dads who flirt like it's their full-time job. 🛠️

This, the second in this very entertaining series was so easy to read, I finished it in one sitting - so be prepared to find it difficult to pull yourself away from these pages. I loved how this storyline spun into the happy ever after!

The reasons for Ainsley relocated to Ardmara with her daughter was easy to relate to, and understand. I appreciated her vision and longing for a fresh start. But being the "new girl" in town can be rough. Fortunately for her, she's found a town where people are welcoming and supportive.

Struan just happens to be the contractor who is helping to make Ainsley's business vision and dreams a reality. As her next door neighbor, their unquestionable chemistry is hard to ignore.

I recommend reading in order for the best experience, and to avoid spoilers. Once finished with this series, please visit this author's catalog for more unforgettable stories. Worth your time, IMO.

This is a good, quick, forced proximity romance. In my opinion the Scottish Highlands are always a great setting for a book (I love ¨hearing¨ the accents) and this slow burn, friends to lovers book definitely has more than a hint of Scottish vibes. This is book two in the Scottish Single Dads series by this author and as someone who did not read book one I found it easy to follow along.

Ainsley is looking for a fresh start and a move to a new town, with new faces that don’t know her whole life story seems to be the first step in a new direction, to bad her daughter Lily is having issues adjusting. Struan is also adjusting to new changes in his life. As a dad coparenting with a woman who is moving on (which he is somewhat okay with) Struan is struggling to let his daughter be free to enjoy her life without him in it. Yes, he has a good coparenting relationship, but this girl dad definitely misses his daughter Isla when she’s not with him. Struan meets Ainsley at a child play area and they both like what they see, but Ainsley is definitely gun shy into starting any new relationship, especially after being burned so bad in her last one. Too bad everywhere she turns to Struan seems to be. He is the carpenter fixing her new shop, her new neighbor, and the little girl whisper, who is able to diffuse the little temper tantrums Ainsley’s daughter seems to be having lately.

This is a definite slow burn relationship as Ainsley truly struggles to get over the way her ex treated her, especially at the end of their relationship. I understand that it’s hard to start over and the need to be more cautious, especially given young children being involved, but sometimes I felt that she was too hard on Struan and always out to make him the ¨bad guy.¨ Luckily, Struan is tough and ready to go the distance, supporting her silently and publicly when she needs it (even when he didn’t understand why). I loved the supporting characters, especially the moms to Ainsley and Struan, who are both a hoot. Over all it was a nice, soft romance with lots of spicy tension, but low on the overall spicy scenes (2/5 intensity). 4 stars

I recently had the pleasure of reading a fantastic book while on holiday amidst the stunning landscapes of New Zealand, and I apologise for the delayed review.

"Built for Love," the second book in Amy McGavin’s Scottish Single Dads series, exceeded my expectations after my delightful experience with "Captain of My Heart." The story follows Ainsley, a resilient single mother who has recently left a bad relationship. She takes her spirited four-year-old daughter, Lily, to the picturesque village of Ardmara for a fresh start, determined to make her lifelong dream of opening a hair salon a reality. With the unwavering support of her parents, Ainsley embarks on this new chapter of her life.

Enter Struan, a charming and skilled contractor who is also Ainsley’s next-door neighbour. He is tasked with helping her turn her vision into a thriving business and quickly becomes an integral part of her journey. The undeniable chemistry between them adds an exciting layer to the narrative.

The pacing of the story was expertly crafted, keeping me fully engaged from start to finish. The character development was rich and well-executed; I felt an instant connection to Ainsley and Struan, as if I had known them for years. Having met Struan in the first book, along with his adorable daughter Isla, I was eager to delve deeper into his life and understand the complexities that shape him. The banter between the characters was sharp and entertaining.

Additionally, I appreciated the subtle references to Bannock and the Glen Garve Resort, which felt like a warm nod to loyal readers of McGavin's previous works. These details enriched the setting and provided a delightful sense of continuity within the series. Overall, "Built for Love" is a perfect contemporary romance that beautifully captures the highs and lows of love and new beginnings. I'm eager for the next single dad book and to catch up with the others along the way.

I absolutely adored the True Scotsman series, but this Scottish Single Dads series is vying hard to take over as my favorite series from Amy & Gavin!! Loved Blair & Lachlan’s story, but Struan & Ainsley’s story just fed my soul in such a fulfilling way. It just hit different. ☺️ The vulnerability, the hurt ❤️‍🩹, the heartbreak, the banter 😂, the magic, the girl-dad vibes, the perfect amount of spice🌶️, the depth of emotions and longing….this gives all the feels in the best possible way. Having been introduced to Struan in the first book, I wasn’t sure just where this story was going to take me. I’m so glad that I went along for the ride! This is one you will definitely want to add to your TBR! Thank you so much to Amy & Gavin for the opportunity to review this e-ARC! I received a gifted advanced review copy for free and am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

I absolutely loved reading Ainsley and Struan's story. With references to Bannock and the Glen Garve Resort as a nice touch.
Ainsley's goal to start a new life finds her in a small town where everyone knows everyone and all the gossip. Struan has a reputation that proceeds him, which exactly what she knows to stay away from.
It was also nice to read about Isla's mum, Soph, and to have a positive co-parenting setup

Struan & Ainsley's story was laugh out loud funny and incredibly sweet and heartwarming at the same time. 🥰

His "playboy" facade is just that a facade. He's actually the sweetest, most caring character I've come across in a long while. As for Ainsley I wanted to strangle her for running away (although I did understand her fears), but my gosh did I scream at her!

Isla and Lily are adorable!

If you haven't already, please do yourself a favor and add this series to your TBR, I for one cannot wait for book 3! I am so excited to see the what the characters are up to next.

Thank you to Amy and Gavin for an ARC copy of Built To Love ❤️

4.5 ⭐

This was such a cute and fun read and the perfect follow up to Captain of my Heart. Struan and Ainsley’s story dealt with difficult subjects masked by cheeky banter and a very flirtatious builder 😉

One thing I always love about Amy and Gavin’s books are the loveable characters who can admit their flaws but remind you of someone you’d meet on the street in your wee hometown - maybe that’s just my Scottish bias 🤷🏻‍♀️

Side Note - the little snippets of Bannock we got and callbacks to The True Scotsman series had my heart fluttering with excitement it was just adorable ☺️

If you love small town romances with cute kids, meddling mums and shirtless builders, this one is for you 🙌🏻

Really hoping we get Douglas and Ellie’s story next!

As I expected, this was amazing! I loved Ainsley & Struan.
This might only be the second book I’ve read by this writing duo but again it’s full of humour. warmth and heart that had me smiling throughout.

I loved the tension, banter and chemistry between Struan & Ainsley. Their interactions were .. *chefs kiss* I ate them up!
I completely felt for Ainsley. Such a relatable character and past. I know how it feels to be cheated on and so completely understood her reasons for how she reacted/responded because, let’s face it, we can all “overreact” when we’re protecting our heart.

There are many lines I loved but a fave is:

“Oh, no, I like to eat meat,” I say. I like to eat meat ..

It’s giving “I carried a watermelon” vibes 😂

Honestly, single dad is my new favourite trope. I cannot wait for book 3 so I can read about my favourite character, Douglas! 🥰

I did want a little more spice and, although it was nice what he did, I don’t like where he took her (read it and you’ll understand, I hope lol).

Another gorgeous story in the Single Dads series. Roll on book 3!

Thank you so much, Amy & Gavin, for the arc. This is a new favourite series of mine.

Great dual pov story of Ainsley and Struan. Both single parents who are new neighbours. He also has been booked to do her renovations for the hairdressing salon , "The Lily Room" she is going to open. Struan persues Ainsley but she has been hurt in the past (with Lily's dad) and doesn't like the small town gossip. Fantastic part of the Scottish Single Dad's series - loved Ainsley and Struan.

This book fed my soul — no crumbs left. Built for Love is a heartfelt, one-sitting read about fresh starts, small-town warmth, and a swoony Scottish single dad who sets the bar dangerously high. Ainsley’s move to Ardmara with her daughter felt raw and relatable, and watching her rebuild her life (and confidence) was deeply satisfying. Enter Struan — charming builder, devoted girl-dad, and walking green flag — whose chemistry with Ainsley crackles from neighborly banter to full-on emotional payoff.

The vulnerability, humor, longing, and just-right spice blend beautifully, and the found-family town vibes made everything even sweeter. Emotional without being heavy, romantic without being cheesy — this one just hits.

A flawless five stars ⭐️ and an easy must-read for fans of single-dad romances, grumpy-sunshine energy, and Scottish men who flirt like it’s an Olympic sport.

If Amy and Gavin wrote it, I’m reading it. No hesitation. They never miss and they consistently deliver exactly what I’m craving.

This book was warm, comforting, and unmistakably theirs, with that perfect balance of heartfelt romance and deliciously well-placed spice.

Struan was everything. Strong, capable, unapologetically manly, yet kind and genuinely gentlemanly. Undeniably Scottish and yes, that only made him better. Ainsley was just as compelling. Classy, sophisticated, and resilient. Life dealt her a rough hand, but she carried herself with grace and quiet strength like the queen she is.

I loved the setting, the banter was sharp and entertaining, and the angst hit in that honest, emotional way that actually adds depth instead of cheap drama. I’m fully invested and cannot wait to continue this series.

PS. My Wi-Fi password is now officially PrettyFlyForAWiFi. 🤭😆

We're back in the little Scottish village again. where everyone knows everyone. Ainsley and her daughter have relocated to the beautiful Scottish village, along with Ainsley's parents. With her salon needing renovation before she can open, she's busy organising their new home. When she finds that the man working on her salon is also her neighbour, who also happens to be a hunk and a single dad. Struan is finally in a place were his life is running smoothly. His daughter spends time with him and he mum which works out well. Until he gets a new neighbour and client who is suddenly all he can think about. This is a brilliant second chance story, with characters from previous book helping built a bigger picture of the story. I can't wait to read more from these characters

Such a cute, fun read! The pacing was perfect and had me sucked in the entire time. The character development was great. Perfect contemporary romance book. Especially if you like small-town, single-parent, or next-door-neighbor tropes. The Irish was an added bonus, and written well enough, that the entire dialogue in my head while reading was in an Irish accent.

TW: infidelity (mentioned)
Spice: 2/5

I've yet to read an Amy McGavin story I didn't like and Built for Love is no different.

Small town cosy romance with single dad, single mum and close proximity. Ainsley's reluctance to give in to the charms of local hottie Struan initially, leads to an amazing pay off when they finally get their "f*ck it" moment 😎 only to be made better in the aftermath 🤣 which had me giggling hard.

I equally loved the little links into Bannock and the True Scotsman series 💕

If you love cosy small town romances with single dad trope then this will be right up your street 🥰

Built for Love is the second book in the Scottish Single Dads series which follows Ainsley a single mom who has been hurt in the past and Struan a single dad who is not looking to settle down but all that changes the moment he sets his eyes on Ainsley. This is a quick and engaging story with the best banter, great family dynamics, wonderful friendships and lots of funny moments. Ainsley and Struan are very relatable characters, and I found myself rooting for them to find their HEA. I definitely can't wait to get back to this small town and read about the next Scottish Single Dad in this series. If you have not started this series, I definitely recommend you do.

This romance novel by Amy McGavin (an author duo consisting of a wife and her spouse) situated in the Scottish Highlands really doesn’t disappoint. As was expected, when you have already known and read the other books those two already have written together.
This novel is part 2 in a series called „The Scottish Single Dads“. It takes place in the small but not very sleepy coastal village Ardmara in the Highlands.

FMC Ainsley, her daughter Lily and her parents moved there recently, because Ainsley is going to reopen the local hair salon and as a working single mom, she is happy, her parents are there too.
Ainsley is going to redesign the shop, i.e. doing a total make over of the old salon with the help of the local building firm, owned by the Walker family. And this is, where the MMC appears, Struan Walker, man bun wearing hottie, builder extraordinaire and part time single father of Isla. He is going to do the main restructure work on the salon.

But stop, they will meet before that … in a somewhat embarrassing (her point of view) but nevertheless funny situation. Mutual attraction is there from the start. But it takes a lot to overcome all the obstacles that lie in their way.

Especially Ainsley has to leave the betrayal from her last relationship behind and she also has to learn that the enduring of the special evil gossip in her hometown afterwards is only a one time event and not something that will define her future life.

Struan has his own drama and the resulting feelings about that to take care of. After some struggles he is able to find a consensual and good solution for the life changing situation with the mother of his daughter Isla, which means, that he and Isla will have some changes coming up too. In this situation, where both of the MC’s have to face some major alterations in their everyday life, it appears that two single parents starting a new relationship is an additional obstacle and lets a happy outcome stay in question.

I received a free ARC of this novel and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily here. In my personal opinion the story is well thought through and the part of drama has quite the right amount of being realistic. SORRY, short distraction: The development of the characters is believable, but I must admit, that I came up with some (maybe strange) thoughts, i.e. what kind of animal the MMCs would be, if they were dogs. Struan I could easily see as the nice Golden Retriever, very loyal, kind and always out for harmony. Ainsley however showed a lot of similarities to a Wiener Dog (please don’t laugh!). A bit on the stubborn side, and once she found a trail she decided to follow, it was hard to stop her. Another interesting fact for me also was, that she had so much less experience in handling her daughter. Ainsley sometimes seemed to be a bit heavy handed for my feelings and she obviously had never made the experience, that sometimes a small compromise or a good distraction could be less draining for her own mind as a mother. But I suppose, that could be caused by her past, where she always was acting under pressure, because of the missing support from her then-life-partner, not only having to take care of her daughter and everything else at home alone and also working a lot. But finally, all parents are humans, and as such they are different. Not all are gifted with the same talent to handle the education of their children perfectly on the first try. End of distraction.
By the way, the description of the „pit“ was simply hilarious and so correct, because similar indoor play facilities exist here in my country, too. Fortunately I was able to avoid those for my own kids, but alone to imagine being exposed to that kind of extremely colorful and sticky plastic environment and the idea of so called kid-friendly songs blasting nonstop through a sound system made me shudder. The authors must speak from their own experience!
I really enjoyed reading this novel, especially because of the mostly realistic way it was written, entertaining but never boring. I am looking forward to part 3 of this series, especially because Douglas will be the most difficult one to find someone who voluntarily will join his life with the addition of his more than mischievous twins…

When it’s early January and you’re looking at your men in kilts calendar and wondering if there’s a Celtic cure for this year’s post-Christmas blues, then the latest Amy McGavin book hits your inbox.

The cure just landed!

The McGavins Scottish single dads series continues with book two, Built for Love, Struan and Ainsley’s story. We’re back in Ardmara, the fictional Scottish town that’s home to a lot of easy on the eye and very eligible single dads. And we’re also back to cheeky chappie mode with Struan, like Jamie from The Highland Game but with extra confidence.

Struan Walker is the perfect January calendar pin up who will have you distinctly unfazed if Feb comes around after all. He’s a builder; he’s built like a builder (a hot one with muscles and washboard abs) and the only time his bum falls out of his pants is when he’s about to get sexy with Ainsley). Winner winner, tradesman for dinner.

But there’s more to this man than just a hot bod that can masterfully craft kitchen worktops. Struan is also a dedicated single dad to his daughter Isla, whom he shares custody of with his ex-wife. And Ainsley’s daughter, Lily, just loves him, too. He is poised to jump in and babysit and play Barbies if that’s what Ainsley needs.

Ainsley has been hurt by her cheating ex and has come to Ardmara to heal from her wounds. Without pushing too hard, Struan gently breaks down her barriers and she comes to see how perfect he is for her. She isn’t sure she can trust again but he certainly has the tools to do some deconstructing on that front.

It’s a hard push to see what Struan can’t do, really. Apart from maybe drill a wall and think of Ainsley at the same time. Cue man bun accident scene, followed by hot haircut scene, followed by… Well, you’ll just need to read it to find out.

This is another sweet but perfectly steamy Scottish romance from the McGavins. If you like your heroes Alpha but not holes, in an authentic small town Scottish setting, stop looking right here. Built for Love is perfect for scratching that small town Scotland reading itch. And you might even look away from your men in kilts calendar for a few hours while you devour this book.

Amy McGavin’s Built for Love delivers a delightful blend of humor, heart, and romance. The story follows Ainsley as she seeks a fresh start in a new town, hoping to leave her painful past behind. Her journey is instantly relatable, and her resilience is inspiring, especially as she navigates single motherhood and the betrayal of her ex.

The unexpected arrival of Struan Walker as both her neighbor and the builder renovating her salon brings undeniable chemistry and lighthearted tension to the story. Struan’s charm, skills, and devotion as a single father make him an irresistible love interest, and the playful banter between him and Ainsley is a highlight.

Struan’s warm personality, sense of humor, and flirtatious nature add layers to the romance, making their connection feel genuine and swoon-worthy.

McGavin masterfully blends sweet and funny moments with heartfelt emotion. Ainsley’s reluctance to trust again feels authentic and adds depth to her character, while Struan’s caring nature, especially toward Lily, creates touching scenes that tug at the heartstrings.

The book is packed with memorable scenes, witty exchanges, and moments that make you root for both Ainsley and Struan. Their chemistry is palpable, and the supporting cast adds richness to the narrative.

Fans of romantic comedies, grumpy-sunshine pairings, and heartfelt family dynamics will find so much to love in this story. The Scottish setting and blue-collar charm add a unique flavor, making this a standout addition to the Scottish Single Dads series.

Ultimately, Built for Love is a charming, feel-good romance that is sure to make you smile. The writing is engaging, the characters are wonderfully developed, and the emotional journey feels authentic. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a heartfelt, uplifting read.

If you love romance novels with sparkling dialogue, sincere emotion, and swoon-worthy moments, don’t miss this book!

Book 2 in the Scottish Single Dad's Series
Release Date 15th January 2026

Well, it didn't take long, but the first ARC read of 2026 is complete. Thank you so much, Amy McGavin, for a copy of this read! As always, I was obsessed with it.

I loved Captain of my Heart, so I knew this read wouldn't disappoint at all. I loved it so much!!

The fiercely independent Ainsley trying her hardest to prove everyone ( I think more to herself) that she can make it after utter heartbreak.
After upping and moving her life to a wee small town, the last thing she expects is to meet Struan.... well, he is the contractor..... and her neighbour.

Struan is very laid back and chill..... but is he though..... he very much is the definition of Golden Retriever!

I love the fact that both MCs are single parents, but also very different parents. I can relate to the high-pitched squealing meltdowns that Lily has.... and also to the brains of Isla. Those gals are so opposite but adorable!! I also loved the hint of jealousy from parent and child. Probably a fact that a lot of folk don't realise unless they are in that situation!

The community of the small town is lovely! Being in a small town too it very much is true.... you can't do anything without someone gossiping.

I also loved the popping in from our book one couple, and Blair being a standard nosey american! Also, the wee teasers of Bannock and the Garve resort! A wee snip of familiarity from the True Scotsman Series! Perfectly done!

Absolutely adored this read!! I massively recommend it!

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via BookSirens. This in no way impacted on my view.

When single mother Ainsley moves to Ardmara with daughter Lily, she's ready for a fresh start. Opening her own hair salon has always been her dream, and with her parent's support, she's about to make it her reality. However, she never expected that the handsome builder who's readying her store, and who's also her next door neighbour, would be such a flirt, nor that she would be so drawn to him. Single father Struan has never had much trouble finding a partner, but Ainsley's walls are almost too high to climb. But he knows how to woo her, and he's not about to let someone as special as Ainsley get away without a fight.

This book was such a great read, which I literally read in one sitting. It had a reverse grumpy-sunshine trope, and though it was clear that both Ainsley and Struan were instantly attracted to each other, there wasn't any instalove to make the story unbelievable. Neither character was perfect, and their messy lives made the story that much better. I loved the found family aspect, as well has how easily Ainsley and Blair became friends. My only wish - that we saw more of Ellie and Douglas. I can't wait for their story!

Ainsley's character is a hot mess. After catching her boyfriend, the father of her little girl cheating on her with her bestfriend, it feels like a double betrayal. Then to top it off, she becomes the center of everyone's gossip and pity. So she decides to move with her daughter for a fresh start. A new town and a chance to start her own beauty salon. What she didn't want or need was a new man. Then she meets Struan, the handyman that is renovating her salon and just happens to be her gorgeous, new next door neighbor. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Struan's character is much like a happy go lucky guy. Likes everyone, easy smile, always willing to help and a great dad to his 7 yr old daughter that unfortunately he only gets to see on the weekends. This book is the story of two people who are truly made for each other. That is if Straun can get Ainsley to stop sabotaging their relationship and realize that not every man is like her ex. My favorite part was when the two moms showed up at Straun's house for a surprise visit to check out his kitchen and ended up checking out much, much more. OMG that was hilarious!! Pretty good book.

Loved it!
Another great read in the Scottish Single Dads Series.
This story follows Straun and Ainsley as they navigate the attraction they have for each other, her fighting it all the way.
Ainsley has recently left a bad relationship, taken her four year old with her and is starting again in a new town.
Straun happens to be the builder she contracts to do the work to get her new salon up and running.
He’s a gorgeous single dad that she sees as a flirt and a bit of a player around women but a wonderful dad.
This is a, he falls first story but she seems to think he’s just like her ex and won’t have anything to do with him.
Over time Straun very slowly breaks down all of Ainsley’s walls until she finally sees the real him.
But will Ainsley let him in to her life, or will she push him away?
I enjoyed the banter plus the funny moments throughout, really loving the storyline and both characters.
The children were also a delight.
Definitely looking forward to the next dad in the series.

Grumpy (Her!) / Sunshine (Him!) Small Scottish Town Cosy Rom-Com - So Much Fun!

This book was wonderful in every way and very hard to put down. The attraction between Ainsley and Struan was palpable but she was previously wounded so skittish especially with such a good looking and apparent "man about town". But Straun was so sweet with her daughter Lily (and his own), and so eager and helpful both as her contractor and as a neighbor stepping in to help whenever she needed it, not to mention their off the charts sizzle and banter that perhaps she should give him a chance? Of course with children, and small towns everything that could go wrong did causing many LOL moments just adding to the fun of the story. The book is told via dual POV so the reader understands both of their inner thoughts and feelings adding to the depth and my enjoyment. The background characters are also lovely, and many are part of the series although the book easily works as a standalone - Enjoy!

From the very first chaotic ball-pit encounter, I knew this wasn’t going to be just another small-town romance. Built for Love pulled me in with its humour, but it kept me hooked with its emotional honesty.

I felt deeply invested in Ainsley’s fresh start. Her guarded heart, her fierce love for her daughter, and her determination to stand on her own two feet made her incredibly relatable. And then there’s Struan—the effortlessly charming, maddeningly attractive neighbour who has a knack for showing up at exactly the wrong (or right) moments. Their chemistry simmers from the start, but what I appreciated most was how slowly and realistically their connection develops.

The single-parent dynamics felt authentic and tender, and the children added warmth without distracting from the romance. For me, this story wasn’t just about attraction—it was about healing, trust, and building something solid after everything falls apart.

After finding her boyfriend (also the father of her four-year-old daughter) and her best friend in bed together, Ainsley decided to move on to a new town. When she moved with her daughter Lily, her parents moved with them. Now she is renovating a beauty shop and living in a half of a house ready to get settled down to her new life. Little did she know that her next-door neighbor is also the one doing the renovations. Struan Walker is tall, handsome, and everything she wants to stay away from, but he also is very patient and loves spending time with his daughter Isla who he only has on the weekends. There is so much in this story. They have a connection from the start, just won’t commit to it. I found myself laughing at humorous moments in this story.

This is the 2nd book in the Scottish Single Dads series, it follows the story of Ainsley, a single mum to Lily who has moved to Ardmara for a fresh start away from her ex - Lily's dad...if you can call him that! She starts the task of a renovation to a hair salon and discovers the joiner completing the work is the guys whose lap she fell into at the soft play. Turns out he is also her next door neighbour too!

Ainsley fights her inner turmoil after how things went down with her ex & she gets the impression from other towns folk that Struan is a ladies man.

Tropes:
Black Cat/Golden Retriever
Single Dad/Single Mum
Neighbours
Blue Collar Worker/Client

Another fab read from this husband/wife writing duo 💜

Built for Love is a story of strength and endurance - of rebuilding life after heartbreak and betrayal. Ainsley moved to Ardmara to open a hair salon and start a new life for her and her daughter. Struan is everywhere in her new life - he is doing the renovations on her salon, he is her new neighbor, he is in a band at the local pub. At first glance he is a shameful flirt who has nothing to offer but more heartbreak. But beneath the surface there is so much more. Ainsley and Struan's story is emotional, endearing, and heartwarming. I was so emotionally invested and connected to the characters. Such a wonderful story.
