The hard-hitting investigative journalist isn’t feeling one trace of the festive spirit—and she’s sick of being held back by an old-fashioned boss who refuses to see her true potential. But when taking the story forces her to return to her quiet childhood hometown, Elaine soon finds herself in the thick of a perplexing mystery.
Who would want to steal Christmas trees? And who is breaking into old man Charlie McRoy’s house? The rest of the town thinks he’s crazy, but Elaine believes there’s more to this case than meets the eye. Eager for her big break, she reconnects with aspiring filmmaker—and childhood crush—Troy Vega in an attempt to solve the mystery plaguing the town.
But returning to her hometown dredges up old memories that she’d rather leave buried under a pile of snow and ice. As she butts heads with her freeloading little sister and fights her growing attraction for Troy, Elaine must unravel the clues behind the tree farm and uncover the hidden threads linking everyone in town.
Can she prove herself as the journalist she always knew she could be? Or will her dreams go unanswered this Christmas?

Surely things can't get any worse, can they? Grace what a Tangled web of mystery this series has unfolded. I cannot wait to see what will happen next. So ridiculously good!
Troy and Elaine are working together to try to find out what is happening to the trees at Charlie’s tree lot. Both are defensive with the other one questions their life choices and what they have accomplished in life. Elaine’s sister discovers a suspicious online presence for Remy, Troy’s son.
Will they uncover the truth before it is too late? Who is out to destroy Charlie’s livelihood?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
Elaine and Troy are now working together on the missing Christmas trees. They discover new information through store footage. Just when they think they may have something, tragedy strikes the tree farm. Who is doing all this to Charlie and why? Can they solve this mystery? Why are the police nit investigating?
The changes Elaine is making and now working with her ex Troy to solve the mystery continues until she learns some new facts. Will she get to the bottom of the mystery? Just have to read more to find out. I enjoy this mystery series and can't wait to read and see what happens next. This series is well worth the read.
First off I want to say that I only wanted to leave one review for this book, however book four doesn't come out yet and ill just say this. A wonderful read, can't put it down read, great characters. To be continued. Enjoy
Even if you didn't plan to read the next book, though I don't know why you wouldn't, the ending was enough to send me hurrying to read it! Great writing!
The characters were fun and very interesting. The twists and turns continued to keep me guessing. The mystery is hard to figure out. But a good mystery holds your interest. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
While I liked the book I did not care for the ending. It just abruptly stopped and left you hanging. I guess so you will order the next book. Not really fair to the reader.
Elaine reconnected with her friend Tony and they agree to work together to try to solve the stolen Christmas trees debacle when disaster strikes. Ready for book four.
