If you can just hold out, God will come through in the end
Jeanetta Britt’s “Empty Envelope” is the story of Jett and Trina, two people married to mates that are so selfish and uncaring with no thought to how their spouses really feel. Add kids, day to day stress and forgetting about God and you have a mess!
In reading this novel, the beginning was somewhat of a distraction and to me. Some parts didn't really seem necessary. I felt like the author wanted to include the God message in the book, but I really didn't think the story line flowed as well until towards the end.
Some things that occurred in the story were somewhat far-fetched in terms of how they occurred, but nevertheless, in the end, God did let everyone know He is still in control.
I would've liked to see both Jett and Trina have a backbone to stand up to their spouses and demand respect. I felt like they went through a lot of unnecessary twists and turns and could have stopped a lot of what was going on by just simply dealing with the problems head on instead of becoming doormats!
Because I felt like the story did not grab me and hold my attention making it a book that I felt like I couldn't put down, I give it a 3-star rating. There were only a few grammatical errors that I found, which did not take away from the story. I will give this author's work another try in the future.
