Roger P. Heath a life-long geologist whose favourite film is It’s a Wonderful Life, and whose bookshelves include works such as Elif Shafak's There are Rivers in the Sky, Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen, and Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown Trilogy.

The peculiar workings of his mind once threw out a phrase: No one knows but I, who wrote this here and why. He captured the thought, then laid the journal aside. Many sun-cycles later, he found those dust-laden notes and decided to find out what those words meant. This led him to Lanky, Jessica, and Beth. And Naga and the Iyes. And Shadow and the Ka. And ... Well, to the tale of the Warriors of the Continuum, a tale of courage, love, and hope cast in both shadow and light.

His trilogy of Arrival, Deception, and Life will be published in 2025.

REVIEW
What a wonderfully ‘intense’ fantasy novel this is. Written by Roger P. Heath, and the last in this compelling trilogy, it’s a must read for fans of epic fantasy, such as The Lord of the Rings and Patrick Rothfuss’ more contemporary work, The Name of the Wind.
Now, it’s important to keep in mind I’ve read all three books, and I’m not shy in saying, if I hadn’t, I’d be clueless. This is one of those sets of books where the individual novels don’t work as a standalone. So, start with book 1 (ARRIVAL) – fabulous book, then move onto book 2 ( DECEPTION) – also very good but a bit slow in parts, and, finally, finish off with what I think is the best of the three – (LIFE) which is a character-driven fantasy fest – I particularly loved Jalu who is not to be messed with!
So, what did I enjoy the most? Well, it’s epic – in every way; I don’t know the word count but in terms of page length, it’s over 800. But that’s not a bad thing – fantasy readers love lengthy novels and, as is the case here, there’s so much happening, and so many plots and sub-plots to untangle, every word is needed! And, I must say, it’s a blast. I particularly liked the daemons which I think were first introduced in Philip Pullman’s novels. Saying that, check out Leonardo da Vinci's Lady with an Ermine (1489–91) for a very ‘early’ daemon! But, for me, it's the characters which make this book FAB! The characters arcs are so well-plotted, and all the characters are so ‘individual’, I never once got them confused.
So, all you fantasy lovers out there who enjoy your old-style fantasy – you know the sort of thing: enveloping darkness, god-like powers, good battling evil, then this trilogy is for you. But keep in mind, reading it is not so much a race as a marathon, and I still feel a good editor would cut into all three manuscripts a little, just to improve the pacing. All in all though, it’s thoroughly satisfying, Roger P. Heath offering his readers a fantasy world worthy of getting lost in.
