One witch. One phantom. One secret.

Tamsin Redthorne can see everyone’s future—except her own.

After being burned by love once before, she’s sworn never to risk her heart again.

Especially not on Max Fhearchair, the infuriatingly handsome phantom she’s forced to work with far too often. He’s a colleague, nothing more. At least, that’s what she tells herself.

When Tamsin is ordered to attend the All Hallows’ Eve ball at the Crossroads—a night she never foresaw—she finds herself trapped in close quarters with Max. Sparks fly, temptation simmers, and the walls she’s built around her heart start to crack.

But when Tamsin comes face to face with a mysterious figure, her carefully guarded secret is exposed, and she is one hex away from being lost.

Hex Me is a spicy standalone romantasy set in the Immortal Vices and Virtues Universe. Every book is a guaranteed happily ever after with a satisfying ending and no cliffhangers. Perfect for fans of Immortals After Dark, Black Dagger Brotherhood, and the Demonica series.

Amanda Pillar is addicted to writing. Not in the fun kind of way, more in the has-to-get-her-fix kind of way. But that's a good thing, right? It means she's busy working on her next book and has plans for many more to come, all with lots of snark. Because snark.

Amanda has had almost a dozen books published, alongside a variety of short stories, as well as solo and co-editing over half a dozen anthologies. People say it's because she's an 'over-achiever' but, in reality, Amanda doesn't understand the concept of 'relaxation'. (Please feel free to explain it to her. Use small words.) The last novella in the Immortal Vices and Virtues: All Hallows' Eve series is the final book set in the world we know and love. It's definitely bittersweet!

But what a way to go out! This was an amazing installment. I absolutely love Tamsin and Max (if you want more of them and their friends and family, go read Haunt Me from the first Immortal Vices and Virtues series; you won't be disappointed!).

Tamsin is a renowned seer, yet she can't see anything about her own future. This resulted in a crushed heart some years ago, making her swear off love forever. Max, her fellow co-second in command of the new House (and phantom), loves nothing more than pushing her buttons. You can tell they love to hate each other, and they certainly don't bother to deny it! All that feuding grinds to a halt when they're ordered to attend the All Hallows' Eve ball together in place of their bosses, Sabrina and Kieran.
Oh yeah, and they're staying at a hotel, with one bed :D (queue the fireworks!)

This installment made me smile and feel utterly giddy. It was beautifully written, the characters felt alive, and they went through all the emotions. The pacing was excellent, and it read like a charm.

Reading these novellas and meeting up with old friends from previous series really makes me want to reread everything; I'm just not ready to say goodbye yet!

If you haven't already, go check out this entire series. These books are fun, entertaining, and a fantastic way to discover new authors.

The final book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues collection is here. It's hard saying good-bye, but we have no choice, now do we?
This final book is a friends to lovers romantasy. If you're looking for drama...well, this book is pretty anemic on that front. These two are associates more than anything. They know the other exists, but they don't appear to have that many interactions. Tamsin gives off the sense that she's not keen on Max, but closer to the end is when the truth comes out. Max is a ghost hybrid and he brings some interesting elements to the story.
The majority of the story is pretty plain unfortunately. It has some fun moments, but it's towards the end where things turn into a rollercoaster and you get hit with the romance, some steamy, and the revelations they've both been waiting for.
I wish this story had helped the series go out with a bang, but it is what it is.

Quick and spicy read

I loved Tasmin and Max! I was hooked from the first page. I loved reading about the phantoms in Haunt Me, so I was very happy to get more from their world. The banter between Max and Tasmin was gold! They had scorching chemistry and I couldn't wait for them to give in. And it was steamy!! They are perfect for each other- he's not intimidated by her power, and she's not bothered by how protective/intelligent he is.
I'm so sad the Immortal Vices and Virtues world has come to an end. I have read every single book and loved this journey that these authors took me on. It's incredible to me how so many different authors could come together and create an amazing shared world full of magic, adventure and romance!

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Amanda Pillar!

Hex Me is the seventh and final standalone book in the fourth season Immortal Vices and Virtues: All Hallows' Eve and tells the story of Tamsin and Max.

And we're already at the last book in the fourth season of Immortal Vices and Virtues. I'm kinda sad that it's the last book, not only for season four, but also for the Immortal Vices and Virtues universe. I truly enjoyed reading all the books and discovering new authors. Although I didn't love every book in this universe, it was still an amazing book world with interesting characters, adventures, spice and happy endings. For those who haven't heard of the Immortal Vices and Virtues universe, this book universe consists of four seasons, with each season several standalone Romantasy books written by different authors/author duos. Each book has a happy ending and some of them have bits about characters from other books in the Immortal Vices and Virtues world.

Hex Me is the last book in the fourth season, All Hallow's Eve. Like the other books in season four, Hex Me has a cover with illustrations that match the story. For example, on the cover you can see a witch because our female main character, Tamsin, is a witch. Our male main character, Max, is a phantom. Hex Me is a short novella, so you can't expect a lot, but I think this story had everything it needed. I also really liked the plot twist at the end, I didn't see that one coming. I did think the Scottish was a bit annoying for some reason, but oh well. We also read some bits about other characters from the Immortal Vices and Virtues universe: Sabrina and Kieran (Haunt Me, season one), Sin (Spurn Me, season three), Kendall (Consume Me, season four) and Erynn and Sera (Trick Me, season four).

Hex Me was another fun read, and it's perfect for when you want to read a short novella in between bigger books. I'm someone who really enjoys short reads because in big books there's usually information overload, so many different things are happening and I can't remember it all. So in between the bigger books, I can truly enjoy reading a spicy novella with a happy ending. I'm kind of sad that the All Hallows' Eve season does not have full-length books, but I also get the idea of enjoying short novellas for spooky season. If you haven't picked up an Immortal Vices and Virtues book, please do and enjoy this amazing Romantasy world!

A Cute, Cheeky, and Charming Finale to the IV&V Universe

Hex Me brings the Immortal Vices & Virtues series to a close with a spark-filled, frenemies-to-lovers romance, complete with phantoms, party shenanigans, and just enough magical drama to make your heart race. Amanda Pillar returns to the IV&V world with familiar faces, Tamsin and Max – a duo readers didn’t know we needed until their simmering tension finally ignites.

The romance is front and center here. If you’re looking for a deep, plot-heavy fantasy, this one will feel a bit light. But if you’re here for an emotionally magnetic push-and-pull with a payoff that is both sweet and spicy, you have found it. Tamsin’s strength and vulnerability balance beautifully with Max’s calm loyalty and possessive streak. And because there has been a clear time jump from the book where we first met them (Haunt Me, Season 1), the implied history makes this one of the most believable love stories this season. Their connection truly feels earned, even though it’s built within a novella.

5 stars, because I genuinely enjoyed this book despite its light plot. As the final installment in the IV&V universe, Hex Me is a fitting farewell – charming, a little chaotic, and full of heart. It doesn’t go out with a bang, but with a warm, magical sigh. And honestly? That feels just right.

Hexy Highlights:
🔮Length: Novella
👻Genre: Paranormal Romance (witches, phantoms, bonds, magic)
📿POV: Third person, limited POV (Tamsin & Max) with a conversational tone
👓Age: Adult
🔮Warnings: Language, descriptive romance, emotional peril, cheating ex, possessive male
👻Spice: 4/5, the tension simmers…then suddenly it’s clothes off, stakes high, no fade-to-black
📿Violence: Minimal – some light magical tension, one physical encounter, and references to death
👓Editing: Nothing pulled me from the story – no noticeable typos or tangles
🔮World: Post-supernatural-apocalypse Earth (IV&V universe)
👻Series: Immortal Vices and Virtues: All Hallows’ Eve (Season 4) – Final novella in this shared world
📿Tropes: Frenemies-to-lovers, unspoken tension, fate vs. choice, finally confessing feelings, mate bonds
👓Ending: Standalone with a satisfying wrap-up. A soft goodbye to this universe.

✅Recommendation: For fans of magical longing, coworkers-to-lovers, and cozy fall romance with a light plot, heavy on the sass, rich with yearning, and sprinkled with jus the right touch of ghostly charm.

Amanda Pillar isn't new to the IVaV world; her previous book, Haunt Me, was one of my favorites in the series, so I was excited to see the phantoms again in Hex Me.

Tamsin didn't take any crap from anyone, especially from Max, her phantom co-worker. He enjoyed getting underneath her skin, and she didn't hold back either. They had good banter. I could feel the tension, and with the simmering attraction between them, it was only a matter of time before they snapped.

The story was nice. It was more romance than anything. I wish there were a little more plot. Tamsin seems like she's fascinating, and the phantoms are new and intriguing supernaturals; I would have liked more of that. The last few chapters were the ones I enjoyed the most. Confrontations, confessions, revelations, and a little magic are just up my alley. Hex Me was a good on-the-go romance if you only have a little time. I can't believe this is the last IVAV book. I'm going to miss this world.

Yay, we get to see a bit of Sabrina and Kiernan again. I really enjoyed reading their story originally and love seeing them back, even if only for a little while. Also, the ship names, I dig it. This time, we are digging into Tasmin and Max's story. Tasmin is a soothsayer, the best (her words, not mine), and Max is a phantom whom she has to work with far too often. Of course, like the other stories in this series, Vaelora and her party are involved.

These two push each other's buttons to the extreme, and the tension is off the charts with them both. The insults Tasmin throws at Max are hilarious, too, one being Highland Headache, but I'm not going to tell you anymore; you'll have to read it to find out what the rest are. Not just that, but some of the nicknames that Max gives Tamsin cause she hates him calling her lass.

Fantastic last book to a wonderful series which I’ve loved from the very first book back season 1, all the way to the end.

Hex Me was pure magic from start to finish! Tamsin and Max had me hooked with their sizzling chemistry and that delicious friends-to-lovers tension that builds until you can’t stand it anymore. Amanda Pillar does an amazing job blending romance, danger, and a touch of witchy charm into a world that feels both familiar and fantastical. I loved watching Tamsin showing her own power and Max’s steady, protective energy was the perfect balance. A spellbinding romantasy that’s equal parts heart, heat, and magic!

Immortal vices and virtues has been the best combined author series that I have had the pleasure of reading. Please do yourself a favor and read them all! I have found so many new authors, and tropes to enjoy. I am so sad this was the last book of such an incredible ride. Thank you to every author who has poured their blood sweat and tears into this. From a huge fan thank you!!

Disappointed, Tamsin believed she had taken the right steps to protect her heart, but with her experience and ignorance of her future, she shouldn't have been so blind. There was no point in trying to hide from what was determined to happen, and fate seemed to be an unstoppable force. The phantoms had me intrigued. Had not read about them before. I was thoroughly entertained and found it amusing to see how Tamsin and Max were constantly bickering yet fighting the strong attraction they felt for each other. I liked how Vaelora, always ready to intervene, didn't allow their efforts to go to waste. Bravo for the phantom’s reaction. There was no time to waste. A short story with secrets, mistrust, amusing scenes and comments, jealousy, romance, and passion.

I loved Hex Me! Tamsin and Max’s relationship was right up my alley with the banter, tension, and chemistry. This book was such an easy, fun read, I flew right through it and had wished there was more by the time I got to the end. If you’re looking for a quick read with perfect romantic tension and bickering, this is it.

The entire Immortal Vices and Virtues world is great, and I really enjoyed the short novellas of this season. If you are a lover of fantasy and paranormal romance, I definitely recommend you give these books a try!

Amanda pillar is an amazing author and even though this story was short i dont feel like it was missing anything. While I am sad to see this season of Immortal Vices and Virtues come to an end, I have to say it went out with a banger. It had a bit of everything spice, fantasy, and a whole lot more. Our main characters are Tamsin is a witch who cant see her future but she can see everyone else's and then there is max who is a phantom. If your looking for a quick spicy, hauntingly good book than look no further but I would read the other ones first too.

I was so happy they decided to do a book for Tamsin and Max!! I really love this couple together. Tamsin was hurt before, and because she is trying to protect herself from experiencing it again, she protects herself. She doesn't know to what degree it would stop things. You'll love the anticipation lead up in this book. I am so bummed this season of Immortal Vices & Virtues is over, and they aren't continuing them anymore. I highly recommend reading this season and all the other seasons! Lot's of action and spicy scenes!!

This was another fantastic book in this series. This one follows Max and Tam, seen in Haunt Me.

Tam is a with with some pretty crazy abilities, and Max is a phantom hybrid. The chemistry between these 2 leaps off the page!

Despite Tam's best efforts to prevent love, will she open her eyes in time, or lose out on the chance of experiencing one of the things people hunt their entire lives for?

What an amazing way to end this series of novellas in this world we've come to love so much! I absolutely adored Tamsin and Max! It was great to get to see the Phantoms again because they were one of my favorite story lines. Max and Tamsin had the greatest chemistry. The banter, the flirting, the spice! So so good! I'm glad we were able to get a little glimpse of these two, although I could've read a full-size novel and still have wanted more. Fantastic ending!

I was drawn in from the beginning. I couldn't stop reading. Tamsin and Max’s relationship went from friends to lovers. Tamsin had her heart broken and swore off love forever. She wants to view Max as only good friends and colleagues. She gets invited to the All Hallow's Eve ball. She ends up getting in close quarters with Max, and all her walls start to crumble. Will Max and Tamsin make everything work out?

Who knew Uncle Max had such a spicy side! Back to one of my favourite houses Death and Diamonds for the very last book in this amazing series and as always the author did not disappoint. I enjoyed every minute of Max and Tamsin’s story and highly recommended both this and Haunt Me where you meet them both for the first time.

What a great ending to this season's Immortal Vices and Virtues. The last couple to find their fated mates at the All Hallows Eve Ball, and while there is no real drama or danger, there is a lot of sexual tension and an enemy-to-frenemy-to-lovers vibe to this story. Higly recommend all the books in this series

Love this quick story. The two main characters are a witch and a phantom. The tension between them is so much fun to watch. Avoiding how they feel and driving each other crazy. It when they need to attend the All Hallows’ Eve Ball secrets will be revealed. This one does bring the heat that just makes the tension all the better.

Oh I loved these two. The banter between the FMC and MMC is fantastic. Also I am a complete sucker for the Scottish accent even if I'm just reading it, my heart melts. The way these two keep trying to deny their feeing even from themselves just builds to a wonderful tension but when that finally breaks, get ready to fan yourself. loved getting to see the characters from Haunt Me, they had me cracking up as well. This book is going on the trophy shelf.

ok

This book was all right, but it didn’t seem like it had much of a storyline. I don’t know if that was because it’s too short or what. A a few of the same characters from previous books were mentioned.
