Then I met my new neighbor. He’s not human. He’s not safe. And when he looks at me, I’m not invisible anymore.
He calls me Bella. He leaves fruit on my balcony like offerings. He kisses me like I’m worthy of desire.
I know better. Mothers like me don’t get swept into myths. We don’t get worshipped by satyrs with wicked smiles and strong hands. We do laundry. Pay mortgages. Make spaghetti with jarred sauce.
But Cal isn’t offering safety. He’s offering everything.

Going into this book, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. Especially since this is the first time I’ve read a story where a satyr is one of the love interests. Overall, I found it to be an enjoyable and engaging read that I finished in just two sittings.
Because the book is under 100 pages, the pacing is fast, which was expected. Even so, I was pleasantly surprised by how much chemistry there was between the two main characters.
This book feels like a great choice for readers looking for a quick read or for anyone in a reading slump who wants something easy to get through but still engaging.
Overall, this was a solid, enjoyable read, and I’m interested in checking out the rest of the series to see where the story goes next.
Thank you BookSirens, and Stephany Simmons for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily. It was so good that I purchased a copy too!
This was a beautiful novella!
The writing was lyrical, and so romantic. I love that Gina was a 40 year old curvy woman with kids, instead of someone who is barely an adult. Cal was a lovely gentleman, and so perfect in every way. I love how gentle he was, and he let her choose when she was ready. The little gifts of fruit and poetry were so sweet too.
The spice was amazing, and so deeply loving.
This was a lovely quick read, and I can't wait to read more by this author!
This is a very sweet monster romance, with an older FMC as well! It’s briskly paced but it isn’t rushed, pausing over moments when needed, although I think the internal struggle could’ve been lingered over for a handful more pages.
It’s dual POV and this works well with the format, allowing both characters to develop further than they would’ve been able to with the constricted page length with only one POV. I enjoyed that they both had their own struggles with accepting themselves and this was handled very well. I thought the wider universe of other realities blending together and the wider consequences of that was very creatively done!
Thank you to BookSirens and the author for the ARC!
Stephany Simmons delivers a sweet, steamy escape in The Satyr Next Door — a short monster romance that’s utterly charming, just a little corny, and a whole lot of fun. It’s not perfect, but it gives exactly what it promises: a taste of magic, desire, and second chances, wrapped in myth and moments that will make you smile.
Bella is forty, divorced, raising two kids, and more than a little convinced that the punchlines of her life are done. Then along comes her neighbor: Cal, the satyr with golden curls, a mischievous grin, horns, and a flair for dramatic gestures (figs on the balcony? poetry that makes you blush? yes, please). Suddenly her ordinary routine — spaghetti with jarred sauce, school buses, laundry — feels rather dull in comparison.
What I loved: Simmons balances the supernatural with the everyday in a way that keeps things grounded even when the romance and myth get wild. Bella’s doubts feel real. Cal’s worshipful attention is over‑the‑top, yet somehow believable within the story’s playful logic. The satyr trope is handled with both heat and tenderness; his gestures might be corny (offering figs? classic!) but they’re also surprisingly sweet and heartfelt.
The pacing is brisk (as a “quickie” should be), which is both its strength and its weakness. Because it’s short, some character background or conflict depth is skimmed over; I craved just a little more of Bella’s internal struggle, more of Cal’s beyond‑horns intensity. But given the length, there’s enough texture to care, especially once the romance kicks in.
Also adorable: how Simmons writes motherhood, responsibilities, and vulnerability. The ways Bella cares for her children, worries about her future, juggles routine — it adds real stakes to her wanting more than just safety. When Cal steps in, it feels like more than fantasy: it feels like the possibility of being seen, of reclaiming joy.
Oh, I absolutely devoured this! If monster meet-cutes with heart, sweetness, and just the right dash of fire calls to you—this little nugget is calling your name.
The Satyr Next Door sang like a melody I didn’t know I needed—sweet as honey on the tongue, tender as a slow dance at twilight, and spiced just enough to make you lean closer without ever drowning the charm in heat.
This novella fed my Mr. Tumnus obsession like a secret doorway back to Narnia—sudden, magical, and exactly what my heart wanted
The spice? Oh, it's just right. It's a slow simmer that tingles and teases, never scorching, never overwhelming—just that sweet balance that leaves you hungry for one more taste. And Lord, do I wish it had been longer. More pages, more whispers, more of Gina and Cal, because their chemistry sparkled like champagne bubbles rising to the top.
Their love story felt so true—those shy little glances across the fence, the playful steps toward something more, the kind of intimacy that made me blush and grin in the same breath. It wasn’t just heat; it was heart. It was tender, grounding, and real. And I want to know where they go next, what storms they’ll weather, what joys they’ll build together. If the kids actually accept him.
And let’s gab about the world Stephany Simmons gave us. It's a treasure trove! I’m aching for more of these creatures (the more horns the better if you ask me), more of these romances, more Convergence Quickies spun with this kind of care, because sometimes a girl just needs a quick and sweet quickie. This story left me panting and smiling like I’d just finished my favorite dessert and already eyeing the menu for seconds.

A few days ago I read that on the bookish market is a small amount of books with older heroine who already has kids. And then I found „The Satyr Next Door” written by Stephany Simmons.
Gina is a forty years old woman with two kids. She is divorced and she is working with books or other stuff to translation. One day when she is drinking her morning coffee at the neighbourhood she is seeing that someone is doing gardening. Satyr. Handsome, well build and totally charming satyr.
Cal noticed woman from the balcony and he is starting to be his best side. Calling her Bella, doing some gifts, he is slowly closing distance to her. Lonely Gina is a easy target to fall in love, even when she is already experienced in life with men.
„The Satyr Next Door” is a short story, but spicy level inside and building relationship between heroes was a suprise to me. I was thinking that this will be short story without any development of plot and heroes, but I found here totally opposite. They are starting slowly, delicate. Every day they are changing the borders to themselves. I was smiling while reading this story. Yep, it is a cozy monster romance with really nice idea on the plot.
„The Satyr Next Door” was a suprise to me. I was thinking that this won't be a really nice book, maybe because of the lenght or maybe because I am starting my adventure with monster romances. But in the end I am really happy that, I gave her a chance and took this book and read it. If you want to check monster romance and have a quickie read Cal and Gina's story is a perfect proposal for you.
Absolutely loved this! The Satyr Next Door hit all the right notes—so freaking sweet and adorable, yet with enough heat to make it delicious without ever tipping into over-the-top.
The spice was really well done and very tasteful—just enough to burn, not enough to burn out. I wish it was longer. I wanted more pages, more time with Gina and Cal, because their chemistry is such a gem.
Gina and Cal’s relationship-building is everything. From shy glances next door to those moments that made me need to fan myself, it felt genuine, tender, and moving. I want to know more about where they go from here—what challenges lie ahead for these two.
And the world Stephany Simmons has built? I’m keened to explore more: more creatures, more monster romances, more Convergence Quickies! This story left me smiling, satisfied, and desperate for more. If you like monster romance done right, with heart, heat, and sweetness rolled into it—this one’s for you.

The Satyr Next Door is a story about a single mother Gina who like most mom’s has lost herself under the pressure of day to day life.
“When was the last time I'd wanted anything that wasn't sensible, practical, mother-approved? When was the last time I'd done something just because it made me feel alive instead of responsible?” -Gina
Then there is Cal her new satyr neighbor who takes one look at Gina and sees beauty, strength and falls quickly.
“She was stunning in a way that lived in the bones, dark eyes alive with it, a mouth built for trouble, curves that spoke of good food and better wine. Beauty that intoxicated.” - Cal
Stephany Simmons wrote a beautiful and relatable story of an older in life single mother and gives it a monstrous twist. It is a beautiful story the only complaint I have is that there wasn’t more of it. It felt rushed and didn’t allow for more world, character, and relationship building. The spice was carefully done and lovely.
I was given a free copy of this book courtesy of Stephany Simmons and BookSirens. I am leaving this review happily and voluntarily.
So, this was an interesting one! We’ve got Cal, a satyr, and Gina, a single mom in her forties with two kids. I actually liked the maturity in the setup, it’s not your typical “college-age” romance, which I appreciated. The author really leaned into a unique dynamic by pairing fantasy with a later-in-life heroine.
That said, the story wasn’t completely my cup of tea. While it had some sweet moments and the concept is definitely fresh, it just didn’t grip me in the way other romances do. I think it’s more about my personal preferences than the book itself because overall, it’s well-written and fans of fantasy romance with unconventional couples will probably enjoy it a lot more than I did.
So, for me, it was okay. Not a new favorite, but I respect what it was going for.

The Satyr Next Door by Stephany Simmons is monster romance meets single-mom chaos — and it’s unexpectedly tender, spicy, and full of heart.
After divorce and trying to juggle life with two kids, love was the last thing on the agenda… until Cal, the golden-curled satyr, moves in next door. He leaves figs on the balcony, writes poetry that makes you blush, and looks at Bella like she’s a goddess instead of a tired mom just trying to survive.
Here’s what makes it shine: 🔥 Monster romance with a satyr who worships instead of destroys 🏠 Found family + single-mom struggles woven into real love 💔 Healing, devotion, and learning to believe you’re worthy again 🌶️ Tender but spicy, mixing myth with everyday life
If you love your romances bold, magical, and full of heart — The Satyr Next Door will be your next obsession.
This story is fun to read. It is funny, charming, and steamy hot. It has unique characters. Gina a forty something single mother of two. Lives in a time when monsters, Paranormal and humans live hand and hand. The house next door had been empty for years. Then one day as she was having coffee on her balcony. Gina notices a sexy Satyr in the empty houses back yard. Cal is a sexy Satyr he has been used to being alone. As most humans do not take well to monsters. Only his beautiful next door human does not seem afraid of him. No she seems more curious and turned on then anything. Cal feels smitten at first sight. And as he gets to know her the more he wants her! Only problem is he must win over her kids first. This is a five star plus charming monster romance.

I usually enjoy monster romance, and this book initially caught my attention because the main female character is a woman in her forties, a refreshing change from the genre’s usual younger protagonists. That aspect alone made me excited to dive in.
Unfortunately, the story didn’t live up to its potential. Despite the intriguing premise, the plot quickly became repetitive and, at times, downright boring. Instead of building tension or deepening the characters, the narrative kept circling the same ideas without offering anything new. By the end, it just felt flat and unfinished, as if it never fully embraced the strengths it hinted at in the beginning.
Overall, it had a promising concept but ultimately fell short.
Just a cutie romance novel with a bit of spice and a bit of fantasy
Once again Stephany Simmons has created a delightful piece of writing, I actually chewed through this book so fast I didnt realise I'd reached the end
Divorced mum of two teenagers, fallen into the routine of life, no longer knowing who she is besides mum until a stunning satyr man moves in next door, he's transforming the garden and transforming her, giving her space to remember the wild spark she was before she got lost in the routine of life
Definately recommend if you're looking for some light hearted romance with a bit of spice

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for A Satyr Next Door by Stephany Simmons This was such a quick and steamy read! I absolutely loved that Gina is a middle-aged mom who believes romance is a thing of the past—something so many women can relate to. Then along comes her new neighbor, Cal, who just happens to not be human and is exactly the kind of romantic every woman dreams about. I loved how Cal leaves her little delicious gifts and tends to his garden shirtless, sparking Gina’s curiosity (and ours!) about what it would be like to be with him. He never pushes, always lets her come to him—ever the gentleman. It’s a short, fun, and romantic escape that left me smiling from start to finish. Thank you to the author for providing me with an advanced copy. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
This absolutely was a quick read - read it in about an hour, I have been left wanting a bit more from it which is why it’s 4⭐️
Saying that, I liked how there was just a prologue with the world building/set up & that there weren’t drawn out past traumas.
I really liked Gina, the FMC & that she felt more like a real person than some books where the FMC is a perky 20yo that is amazing & knows she is. Gina has insecurities & mentions them & the MMC totally reassures her & then it’s done rather than something that lingers on endlessly.
Such a happy little read but I still want more!

This is such a cute little quick read! I finished this all in one sitting and I want more from this world! Imagine that our world and the wild world of the Fae was merged in a cosmic shift! Cal moving in next door to a single mom with two kids and reawakening her love of life and passions is swoon worthy.
Gina is divorced, mother of two kids and so stuck in a rut of life that we can all relate. Meeting her new neighbor who also is not human at all is just what she needs to realize she is still a woman with so much more life to live.

Stephany Simmons delivered a warm, steamy escape of a monster romance. I loved it, finished in under an hour and would totally recommend it for those who love to read and dont have a lot of time on their hands. Although this is not my perfect book, I prefer books that go more into depth with their characters, and I feel as though it could’ve gone further into Bella’s internal struggles and history, and Cal’s background. It was still a great read, and just as advertised, a “quicky”. Overall, would recommend!
As can be expected by the series name, Convergence Quickies, this is a short read with an accelerated timeline. The plot is a little fragmented as a result, reading as a succession of interludes. The main trope - single mother in need of a life change - is not my favourite, but overall the story is uplifting. The FMC’s emotions swing quite wildly and rapidly at times, which I found made for an unsettled read. I like the world concept, and it lends to a wide variety of couple options.
Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.
I absolutely loved this one! It was short and sweet, and I found it so refreshing that the main character was a mom with kids who was actually my age. I loved how realistic their relationship felt, they didn't just jump into bed together right away, which I really appreciated.
The story kept me entertained the whole way through, and I was very happy with this read. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars. My only real complaint is that I wish it were longer because I definitely wanted more of it! I’m really looking forward to reading more from this author.

Despite this being a novella, Simmons packs a lot into a relatively short book. I appreciate the prologue that does just enough to set up how mythological creatures entered into the real world. It does some heavy lifting grounding the story. This is a short romance where our FMC is a woman in her 40s, a single mother with two children. It’s refreshing to have a romance lead who is older than a twenty-something. I also really enjoyed how poetic or MMC is (as a Saytr would be). Overall, this is a short and fun romance with a bit of spice.
Not one of her books have disappointed me, so I accepted a copy of this one.
This whole thing was great. Gina and Cal seem so terribly mismatched, being completely different species and all, but it worked. He managed to crack her shell, and she allowed herself to be her own woman, again. Several times I got confused between a satyr and a centaur, but I did finally figure it out… I wish that the book was longer than it was, but I guess that just gives me incentive to look for more Convergence Quickies in the future.
This is a short spicy novella with a divorced mom in her 40s raising two kids. I really appreciated that this is a story with an older FMC who struggles with real world responsibilities. The beginning of the story made me laugh out loud with the description of the kids and their attitudes. Unfortunately, the writing in this book is very repetitive and I did find a few of the MMC's actions to be cringy and give me the ick. I think the idea behind this story had potential, but this book just wasn't for me.

It’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years in the same way it is not the pages in a book, its the life in the pages…
Convergence quickies are short form, fantastical stories, set in a world known as post convergence where humans are no longer inhabiting the earth alone… and if your a single women in your forties… there is a beastie out there looking to turn your world upside down 🙃 looking forward to the next installment 💗

This book was such a quick, cozy, sweet and spicy read! Loved it! I sped right through it! And I secretly wanted more! Lol. Gina a 40 year old mom of two and divorced finds attraction in her very new and kinda intriguing new Satyr neighbor. He’s everything she didn’t know she was missing! And the way he just takes care of her and accepts her imperfections. Absolutely perfect! And her kids… they accept him with horns and all.
Wow. I hope there are more to come about the Convergence; where real life and myths and fairy tales suddenly collide. Gina is a divorced Mom of two, going through the motions, until one day a new neighbor catches her attention. Cal is a satyr and helps Gina realize what has been missing from her life. I really wish this was longer. I would love to see more into their relationship and how they enrich each other's lives.
The Satyr Next Door was such a delightful little read! 💕 Gina, a mum of two in her 40s, is just living her quiet life when her new neighbour moves in — the gorgeous, poetry-spouting satyr named Cal 😍 He swoops in full of charm, romance, and smooth lines, and dear Gina, after years of neglecting her lady parts, falls hard and fast and Cal is right there to catch her 🔥
I knew I was going to love this short story the moment Cal dropped the line, “Then you’ll be my sunrise” 🌅 That male is so, so smooth 💫
This was a fun read that takes divorced mother, Gina, who no longer really knows who she is beyond mother and worker bee, until she starts getting wooed by new neighbour, satyr Cal. He's been transforming the garden next door while gifting Gina with fruit and poetry. So charming! Easy to say he transformed her, too, as he reminded her of the spark she has inside that was lost to life's demands. Expect to feel the heat as Gina and Cal get their fab and steamy HEA. Good fun!
A fun short read. I love the idea of the 2nd chance at love. I’m not sure I would be able to handle a situation like this one but the opened and acceptance was wonderful to read. I wish we had that kind of acceptance in this current world. Love the person not the exterior.

Be a good neighbour and recommend this book! Wow! I loved it! Very sexy and fun! Well written and had beautiful lines! And so so hot! I loved that our girl was not a girl but an older mom! (Its about time we see this beautiful age group) it was funny and a quick read.... I wanted more! I can't wait to read more from this author!
