All is fair in love and war. But there’s nothing fair about finding love when the job is to be at war.
Stuck on a deployment she tried to avoid, Second Class Petty Officer Molly Barrone is counting the days until her naval enlistment ends.
Her plan to keep her head down and coast to the finish line is disrupted when she meets Ensign Kyle Denver, the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer assigned to manage her division. Despite her best efforts to avoid it, an unexpected connection between them makes her question everything she thought she wanted.
Caught between duty and a growing attraction that’s strictly off-limits, Molly tries to keep her feelings in check when a message from home upends the life she planned to return to. As the weeks at sea stretch on, Molly finds herself standing at a crossroads.
For the first time, no one can tell her who to be—or who to love. And some choices, she’ll have to make on her own.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author and I enjoyed every minute of reading it. The characters are so vivid, so lovably flawed, and the setting feels delightfully unconventional. Marci Daniels has written a compelling and touching story that is funny, deeply relatable, and profoundly satisfying.
I never thought I would enjoy a romance-ish novel, but I loved this one enough to give it five stars. More lusty than lovey, more sex than feelings, and that smart-ass feminism touch that’s so close to my heart.
