I read this book for review via Reedsy Discovery, with thanks to Reedsy and the author.

Trigger warning: This book contains themes of abuse, coercion, control, stalking and other toxic relationship behaviours.

Evangelina (Lena) Thomas is smart, beautiful and new to her Boston University campus, meaning that she is also the perfect prey for Tanner Stone, the campus' "it" guy. Tanner has laid his sights on Lena and now won't stop at anything to make sure they end up together.

This story takes place from two perspectives, we have Lena's point of view of the future, where she is calling herself June and living across the country in Oregon; and then we have the POV of Tanner set eight years in the past. Tanner's POV highlights his possessive and obsessive nature toward Lena and his delusion that she was truly at his whim. His whole world revolves around keeping her under his control, even to the point where he puts his family at risk and threatens her friends. Flash forward eight years, Lena, who is now called June for her safety, has fled Tanner and has moved across the country multiple times with her seven-year-old daughter Olivia. They've decided to settle in Oregon where Lena can start a job as a professor and Olivia can go to a proper school for the first time. Their lives come with triumphs and trials alike, but things seem to slowly be turning in their favour. June finds herself beginning to trust people for the first time in almost a decade and begins to feel safe, but that's when everything starts to change. Did she see Tanner in that restaurant? Is her hot neighbour's story just a little too similar to her own to be fully disconnected?

Firstly, I will say this author completely nails the a****** character trope. Tanner is truly intolerable. From the moment the reader is introduced to him, the red flags are popping up everywhere. It soon becomes clear to the reader that this relationship isn't going to be a healthy one. This story doesn't glamourise Lena and Tanner's relationship at all and even though we know that Lena gets away, I still found myself relieved for her when she finally does.

The plot twist in this book between part one and part two was also incredibly smart on behalf of the author. I won't explicitly spoil what happens, but sometimes I find the plot twists in books a little tedious if they aren't shocking enough, but this one was well thought out. Everything seemed to connect really well and I found myself wanting the best for June and Miles as they grew in their friendship and later relationship.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Despite its dark themes, it was incredibly easy to read and very well written and I would recommend it for fans of strong heroines because the author definitely delivers that in Lena/June.

Typical abusive boyfriend and women and kid on the run. Had a good twist. Didn't really like the ending.

✨ He Found Her by Emily R Bellas ✨

This is the first romantic suspense I have read. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into with this one, but I wasn’t disappointed. (Check the trigger warnings before reading.)

I loved the dual POV in this book. We saw things from both the abusers prospective and from the victims. The abusers prospective is told in the past and the victims is told in the present. It was such a good combo.

I will be honest and say that I wasn’t pulled in from the very first page. I wasn’t sold on this story until about 74% in. But after that, I couldn’t put it down. It started off a little slow for me but I’m glad I stuck it out.

Tanner was such a real character, his prospective as the abuser seemed very real to the point it made me feel uncomfortable, but in a good way because that means that the author did her job! Lena was such a well rounded character and in my opinion, a great example of someone that has gone through the trauma mentioned in this book. I loved Olivia and how sweet and spunky she is.

I figured out the twists from pretty early on in the book, but I didn’t mind at all after I finished it, because everything worked out how it was supposed to. Also, the epilogue KILLED ME! I hope the author writes another book explaining what happens after that.

Honestly, I loved this. It has a lot of edge and a lot of heart and intrigue. I think the characters are so interesting and well developed and their voices are so clear. I think it's unique to have it with the abuser's POV and in the victim's, and it shows a lot of contrast. There are some trigger warnings, as this follows both a woman and her child searching for a new life and her abuser in different POVS. I loved having Tanner’s side told from when they met and having Lena’s told from the present as she strives to create a safe life for her and her daughter, who is just so sweet. I also really enjoyed her budding romance with Miles—it had a lot of complexity as she struggles to tell him her past. I binged this book too—I couldn’t wait to see where it went next and I was rooting so hard for Lena. I don’t read a ton of romantic suspense but I love thrillers and romance and this satisfied all of the things I love about those genres. Such a great sophomore novel!

Carefully curated, He Found Her is the ideal romantic suspense, holding an interesting plot, incredibly well-developed characters and the perfect twist. Bellas excels at writing a relatable, determined heroine, a creepy villain, and a wholesome, loving hero all in one book, something that is not easy to do.

The way the story is told through Tanner's POV in the past and June/Lena's POV in the present establishes a compelling story arc full of tension leading up to a major tipping point. What makes He Found Her so unique is that even though this is a 1st person POV, we see June/Lena's character arc primarily from Tanner's POV, and its her character arc that really drives this story forward NOT in Tanner's favor. I also enjoyed how we learned more about Tanner and his issues when Miles (the hero) enters the picture.

This fast-paced, romantic suspense will capture you from the first page and hold your attention to the nail-biting end.

I really enjoyed this book. Romantic suspense books arent normally what I gravitate toward, but this book was great. I loved the characters and the story. The MC Evangelina was strong, brave and is a single mom protecting her daughter the best she can. Evangelina really had to fight her own fears and it was lovely to see her learn trust herself. I rooted for Evangelina the entire story from her awful previous relationship, to her possible new one and her stepping into her own power. This story is suspenseful and will definitely keep you guessing in the best way. The POV was also super interesting. This book felt very realistic, so PLEASE CHECK CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNING. He Found Her had darker themes which might be triggering.

I really enjoyed this book! It's nothing like what I usually read in genre or writing style, so at first I was worried I might have trouble getting into it. Those fears were alleviated instantly as I quickly became invested in Lena's life and budding romance .

I absolutely loved the two different perspectives we got to see from the main characters. I thought it was very unique, and I was drawn into the inner workings of the mind of a character who's perspective you don't normally get to see.

The parallels between past and present tied everything together and kept me engaged throughout the book, and I looked forward to seeing where everything led. The ending felt a little abrupt to me, but if my only complaint is wanting more of a book then you know it's good!

Romantic suspense is not usually something I gravitate towards, but from the moment I started this, I was hooked!! Every chapter left off on its own little cliffhanger and left me wanted to read more (so make sure you have time to sit down and binge)!

The MCs were all written so differently and I felt such strong emotions toward all of them. The setting was perfectly described and made me want to visit the PNW in autumn.

I cannot recommend this enough and that plot twist at the end will leave you with SO MANY THOUGHTS. This book will stick with you for awhile!

*thank you for the ARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own!*

Emily always has a way with words. Words that pull you in and envelop you. The way in which she writes a story so intricately is moving.

This book is a book of survival. It’s a true testament of the lengths a mother will really go to protect her baby, no matter the loss or cost. This story played out so incredibly well. It reminded me of “Enough” with Jennifer Lopez. As a woman who has survived abuse, found her wings and learned to fly again…it was EMPOWERING to read this from both POV’s of Lena and Tanner. To see inside the mind of a broken human being breaking others and then to switch to the other side of what self preservation, initiative and pure wit will take you.

This book was a great read. It does have a lot of heavy themes as mentioned in the trigger warning, but they are handled very sensitively and with a compassion other books don't always match. The dual perspective and dual timeline made for an intriguing read, one that kept my attention and then some. So often we only get one side of the story, so to hear Tanner's gave added context that didn't make him less of a villain (and the abuse is very rightly not glorified), but someone whose own experiences shaped him into what he was. Overall, a well written and interesting read that will stay with me for some time. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved "He Found Her"! Emily R. Bellas has crafted such a gripping and layered story. The multiple POVs and flashbacks kept me totally hooked, and the twists and turns were brilliantly executed. Evangelina/Lena/June is an incredibly complex and compelling FMC; her determination to protect her daughter Olivia is both admirable and heartbreaking. Miles, the MMC, is equally intriguing with his own set of secrets, and I love that he's in touch with his emotions—unlike Tanner 💀
The way everything came together at the end was mind-blowing. If you're looking for a book that will keep you guessing until the very last page, this is definitely a must-read!

The author has a wonderful talent for portraying both the villain and the heroine’s POV in this beautiful and intensely written romantic suspense novel. The story line grips you early on, compelling the reader to keep reading each chapter in anticipation of the next move for the characters and their inevitable failures or triumphs.

The plot twists are surprising, unique and perfectly interwoven. I thoroughly enjoyed every word of this novel and look forward to more from Emily R Bellas.

Wow

What a book! This book is heart wrenching in the abuse that takes place, but also a feel good second chance at love romance story. There are some pretty funny one liners thrown in also. You can feel the intensity of the abuse and know it is something that should never happen to anyone. Tanner is one messed up dude and he makes Lena's life a miserable existence. Her only chance at peace is to run as fast and as far as she can. Eventually her past catches up to her.

Why?

First of all, this book went back and forth too much. It's easy to get lost when this happens. Second, after reading to what I thought was the ending, I come to a cliffhanger! I absolutely hate when authors do this. I will not be reading any more books by this author. I do not recommend either this book or this author.

I loved this book!! It was well written, held my interest from page 1 and had the right amount of balance between romance and mystery. I thought the story being told from a dual perspective was really well done. I highly recommend this book!!

a romantic suspense. It was a tad predictable at times and some of the story line made me question some things. But that’s just my overactive mind. Overall good book. It was an easy read. I liked it. Tanner made my skin crawl from the first chapter but I really liked Miles.
