Nicht nur, dass der 16-jährige Jay um seine Mutter trauert, nach einem Vorfall im Internat wird er ohne weitere Diskussion rausgeworfen und nun hat sein Vater ihn an der Backe. Ein Mann, den Jay kaum kennt, weil er beruflich für die Sicherheit anderer zuständig ist und sich andauernd auf Reisen befindet – aktuell mit der K-Pop-Gruppe Yay!There, die auf ihrer Welttournee jeden Schutz gebrauchen kann. Jay hat keine Ahnung von K-Pop und die sechs Jungs dieser Band sind ihm auch herzlich egal. Sein Plan ist es, bis Paris durchzuhalten, dann abzutauchen und ein ganz neues Leben zu beginnen, weit weg vom Mobbing und den aktuellen Entwicklungen in den USA. Dafür muss er nur die Füße stillhalten. Leider hat er diese Rechnung ohne Yi-jun gemacht. Der Superstar nervt ihn mit seiner penetranten Art, doch schon bald begreift Jay, dass weit aus mehr dahintersteckt.

AHHHHHHH! Emotional Damage
(Very Good)
I just finished it and have no words and too many all at once for how much I love it even though I at least partially hate it for making me feel things. How dare it?! 😤 /J
It was amazingly written, serious and grave where it had to be and beautifully vulnerable as well as silly and lightheaded in between.
The romance between the main characters was the best thing ever! I was so scared when Jay tried to push him away about dramatic misunderstandings but it was done so well!!!
They feel so real and authentic! And their relationship is so tender and soft which just makes everything around it weigh that much heavier!
Without giving too much away, it's safe to say the last chapters SHOCKED me! I read them so fast and now
need a sequel just about them being happy and given every damn thing they want because they deserve it!
Nobody is allowed to hurt these characters under my watch!
Emotional ramblings aside (as said I just finished it and will need a few months to recover /meant in the best way possible) the audiobook was great!
Konrad Bößherz gave an absolutely stunning
performance that made everything hit so much harder! I need more!
Further, I'm trans non-binary and have a dissociative disorder and it was amazing to have a main character be like me without that being the main plot! I can't even begin to describe how amazing everything about
this part was. Best representation I have seen yet.
Also, someone give the boys a vacation and especially the band leader. He deserves it.
I unironically would read an entire book just of him being the team mom of the band.

Hat mir überraschend gut gefallen. Story und Charaktere sind teils ein bisschen sehr klischee-ig, und zuweilen kommt ein erhobener Zeigefinger durch, aber es hat auch seine Glanzmomente. Hätte ich das Buch selber gelesen, wäre es wohl eine 3/5 geworden, allerdings hab ich das Hörbuch (ungekürzt) gehört, und Konrad Bösherz hebt es mit seiner Vortragsweise echt nochmal auf ein ganz anderes Level.
