In a realm where the law forbids women from touching steel, Emylia, fierce and untamed, mourns the shadow of her father, who secretly shaped her into a warrior. A twist of fate ignites a power within her, a force unseen in this land, crackling beneath her rebellious exterior. This newfound strength could alter the world's very fabric, but to master it, to truly become the legend she was born to be, she must face truths as brutal as any blade.
When an enigmatic stranger, as alluring as he is dangerous, crosses her path, he not only challenges her identity but the chains of a society that would cage her. With a warlord's wrath threatening to engulf her village, Emylia stands on the brink. True love might offer solace, but the real power, the courage to push through the darkness, must be summoned from within.
Will she rise to claim her destiny, or will her passionate fire lead to her ruin?
Emylia absolutely wrecked me… then slowly stitched me back together, only to break me all over again. It’s one of those rare stories that sinks deep into your heart and lingers long after you’ve turned the final page.
The writing is breathtaking, raw, emotional, and beautifully crafted in a way that makes you feel every moment in your soul.
Watching Emylia grow into her strength, reclaim her power, and find confidence in her own life was incredibly moving and inspiring.
And Sebastian and Maalikai… I adored them both. Their love for her felt so genuine, steadfast, supportive, and full of belief in who she could be, even when she struggled to see it herself.
This is more than just a book, it’s an experience. One that will stay with me forever.
I’ll start off stating that I read the first version of this book and I loved it, I gave it 4 stars because of a few personal peeves but the plot and everything was amazing.
I was then asked by the author if I’d read this new edition and oh my god! She kept the same amazing plot but with some subtle (apart from the ending but we’ll get to that) changes I’d give her 6 stars if I could! I LOVED this book. The characters are relatable and fun, even with the darker themes. Their bonds both familial and otherwise are relatable and admirable. Their story has some very sad and shocking parts and I’d recommend taking caution if parental death is a trigger for you.
Now let’s get to one of the most noticeable changes, that ending!!! The first edition ending wasn’t without its drama and gore but this new ending had me in literal tears, my heart was breaking and now I absolutely NEED to read on to find out what happens.
All in all would 100% recommend this book or the first edition to anyone who loves fantasy/ magic, a bad bitch FMC and MMC with a great plot and world
just finished this debut and… I’m not okay. In the best possible way.
From the very first page, I was pulled into a world where strength in a woman is feared, where picking up a weapon doesn’t make you powerful… it makes you punishable.
And right at the centre of that storm is Emylia. She is fire. She is fury. A warrior at her core… even when the world tells her she shouldn’t be. But beneath that strength? There’s so much pain. Grief that lingers. A heart that doesn’t believe it deserves love. A girl who has been through too much and still stands anyway. And watching her journey? It hurt… but in that quiet, meaningful way where you can feel every piece of her slowly stitching itself back together.
Enter Maalikai… and wow. This man doesn’t just fall, he chooses her. Fully. Fiercely. Without hesitation.
Where she doubts, he believes. Where she pulls away, he stays. Where she sees broken pieces, he sees someone worth fighting for. And the way he shows her that she is worthy of love, of softness, of something more than survival… I felt that deep in my chest.
But it’s not just the romance that shines. We have hidden magik, lost royalty, whispers of Gods and Goddesses woven through the story, and a world that feels both harsh and hauntingly beautiful.
And at its core, this story is about healing. About learning that love isn’t weakness. That being seen, truly seen, is terrifying… but necessary. And that sometimes, the hardest battle isn’t the one you fight with a weapon… it’s the one you fight within yourself. This wasn’t just a story I read.
Wow! I am so in love with Emylia and this world. I am now completely impatient for book 2 to come out! Jasmin you have clearly poured your heart and soul into this book and I am so glad that I have found your books finally. The wildest ride in all the best ways. Raw depth of every emotion in this one
We follow emylia as she navigates her way through loss and betrayal while also learning to harness POWERS she didn’t even know she had with the help from a new found love maalakai 🥵 (daddy 😂) and her cousin bash!
Emylia is put through some stuff that will tear her heart out and make her one strong ass fmc!
Heart breaking unexpected plot twist that ripped my heart out and chucked it away - devastating 😭
Overal this book is a wholesome , enjoyable read from a beautiful and friendly indie author and I highly recommend reading it.
Ouch? I am deeply offended by how brutal this was emotionally.
If you love: ☆ magical powers ☆ open door romance ☆ heavy plot driven story ☆ an absolute badass FMC and even more of a badass when she builds her confidence ☆ a mean girl who I HEAVILY dislike ☆ pain and sadness ☆ hilarious and sassy mmc
Then honey, you want to read this book.
Just when I thought things were getting a bit better and back on track BAM! NOPE, fooled. You know that saying "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" this was more fool me fifty times shame on me because damn.
I love it. Genuinely speaking, adore it. I'm so glad I read it but also ouch.
The characters are well written, the world building is incredible and detailed. Honestly, amazing. I love it so much but just prepare yourself.
This book is goddess tier for me so far above 5 stars. I was crying in the first chapter, I felt the emotions of the main character. It’s so well written. Every detail is described so well that you can picture the scenery. I’m in love with this story and the characters I’m dying for the next book to come out. Fantasy, romance, spice, fighting and family love that goes above and beyond. This book emotionally destroys & puts you back together. Emylia the FMC and warrior woman the daughter & the lover. Yes there is an instant love connection in this book but really when you know you just know.
First off, obsessed with the cover. I don't even know exactly why, but it's just called to me from the start. It took me a bit to get into the story. It starts up a bit slow with quite a few chapters evolving around her dad's passing. On the opposite then, I thought the romance with her and Maalikai went pretty quick from attraction to love. You gotta love Sebastion though.
The end! heartbreaking, devastating and honestly cruel to have to wait till the next book! Keen to keep reading this series
Wow what a page turner i really enjoyed the world building as well as how easy the book was to follow along. The way Jasmin writes it leaves you being able to picture the scene that is going on which i loved. The FMC Emylia is such a bad ass i loved her personaility and her character growth through out this book. The MMC Maalikai i thought he was absolutely a gentleman i loved his charming personaility. The banter, spice and story line was all a chief kiss. I can not wait to read the next book i need to know a few answers (ifykyk)
This book is an emotional roller-coaster. it was gripping, thrilling and well done. you get invested in the characters and what their stories are as well as their development. Emylia will resonate will many people in the way she feels and how one person can change how you view yourself. I am so excited for the next book in this instalment. I need to know what happens next. I would highly recommend this book to anyone diving into fantasy either for the first time or as a regular.
This book was a pleasure from start to finish and I can’t wait for more! Such a well-crafted world, amazing characters and moments that made my heart stop 🥲 I DEVOURED this book and seeing the character art on the cover is so so cool! HUGE fan of Emylia - such a strong FMC.
Would recommend this to anyone, especially fans of ACOTAR and TOG!
I had to DNF this book. I got half way through it and I just did not click with me. I thought it was going to get better but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. If you love quick love story, and story about a land that doesn’t allow lemon to wiled weapons but one girl doesn’t follow the law interest you, this story is for you!
While books don’t usually make me cry, the ending in this one completely demolished me! I highly recommend this new and upcoming romantasy with Nordic vibes. With best friends with all the protection vibes and a MMC to die.. this is a 6 star read for me !
Wow this book was absolutely amazing, I went through so many emotions but all in all it was amazing. I loved the characters except for two. If you love warriors, and magik this is the book for you because wow.
