This is book 4 in the Charmin Marvin Romantic Comedy Series. These books are novella length.

When Charmin Marvin wonders when Christmas Day would be in their new time frame, he sets events in motion no one could have expected.

Dani and Charmin lost a lot when they were brought 200 years into the future. But nostalgia brings the possibility of Christmas back into Dani's life - if she can make it happen.

Levi hates to deny Dani anything, but all holidays were removed from his society by the government decades ago. He has no idea what she's talking about - and when he does research and finds out - he wonders if something can be done. And someone outside of their small family wonders, too...

Dani has the best of intentions - but creating Christmas in a world that no longer knows what a holiday is makes her life very complicated very quickly.

Dani Blackburn realises that although she has gained a great deal being pulled 200 years into the future by her husband Levi's slightly abnormal, genius brother Milo, she has also lost a great deal when cat Charmin Marvin asks when Christmas Day will be in their new timeframe. It appears that all holidays were banned by the government a long time ago and Livi and Milo have no idea what they are talking about. Having done some research, Levi wonders if the can bring it back - even if it is just for their small family. However, those good intentions bring on a chain of reactions in a world that no longer tolerates such things when internet searches set off alarms. Can they get back on track and give Dani and Charmin Marvin the Christmas they crave?

This was a really sweet festive story that clearly showed how things have changed in the future and the trouble that this small family will go to for each other to give a little happiness. I loved the ending and the fact that they worked out more of how they could live together and have fulfilling lives. Well written and easy to understand.

Charming wants to know when Christmas is, unfortunately holidays are something that have been made illegal and totally erases here in the twenty third century. Lani misses the holidays too, so she starts researching decorations on the old computer she's using to get up to speed on things in this life. Of course this sets off all sorts of alarms and flags. She wants to do this not only for herself and Charming but also add something special to her life with Liev.

Then of course we have Charming, he's such a little instigator. It was truly amusing to watch an exchange between Lani and him over cans of salmon.

Some interesting conversations with Steven their friend in government who is now sorting out the corruption discovered in the Council. Charming's next order of Salmon, Lani's gift for Liev, Milo's research and Liev finding a way for Christmas, all make for a delightful tale.

There are some tense moments that came as a bit of a surprise. However, they add just the right amount of suspense to the story.

I'm sorry this series ended, I think I'd like more of these characters.

Ok name thing sorted. Author updated this series but not all details in the blurbs have by the sites. Anyway this episode is all about trying to recreate Christmas, this time era has all holidays not just banned but every detail locked down, hidden and buried. Poor Lani struggles to find anything to organise a surprise for all and is getting increasingly disheartened. Charmin as usual is helpful but also not. I am enjoying this very futuristic series, it takes a bit to get your head around the concept of some details and way of life but fortunately I've watched a lot of S/F which helps. I do hope though they figure out how to stop people or bots breaking in and kidnapping, for 2 very brainy dark guys this is happening a bit to much. Still Lani is stronger willed and pushes to solve all the issues. Great characters and such an interesting plot concept. Compelling reading. Started and finished 3/12/21

This is a brief add on story to the Broken Protocols series. I didn’t find the first three quarters of it very substantive at all. But it did redeem itself with a smidge of action and a cute little ending. Gotta love that big, orange, talking cat!

Another Charmin Read!

What a perfectly magical addition to the Broken Protocols series! This is such a sweet loving romantic shorter story that continues the great theme of the Broken Protocols series, but add in the whole magic of Christmas and you get the perfect Christmas HEA! I recently had the pleasure of reading this series of Dale’s and was anxiously awaiting word of more books because I loved this series and boy did Dale deliver! This is the kind of story that would come after “THE HEA END” of a fairy tale – like an update of “how they are doing now that the glass slippers have been taken off and how they are settling in for their first Christmas together” kind of story. As you are reading this series you can picture the technology and see the world as Dani sees it and you can just picture Charmin Marvin and all of his smart & goofy antics both as the “cat” and when he is acting “human”! This all just proves how terrific an author Dale is! Not everyone can have you enjoying a story, connecting with the characters (2 & 4 legged ones!) while effortlessly being able to actually see The Future through Dani & Marvin’s eyes! This is a hilarious story while also being tender and sweet and entertaining. A magical moment where Dani is trying to bring Christmas to a time that has banished it, but she is determined to share this great tradition with her new husband and his brother…oh and don’t forget Charmin Marvin! Not that you could if you tried! Never mind the fact that he now talks, but “when he was upside down, four paws to the wind and twisted in a bizarre curl” makes him pretty memorable! LOL I am so glad that Dale did decide to write another piece in this awesome series!!! I hope that there is more to come. This is definitely one of my favorite series of the year!!! Merry Christmas!

Dale Mayer has written a wonderful series...that even goes 20 years it the future. Funny, Enjoyable , Just a GREAT book,

This is a funny story filled with laughs.Even though Dani, Milo,Levi, and Charmin Marvin (the cat, who can talk) , now 200 years in the future, seems like they will finally get a rest from all the excitement of the first 3 books.And it's Christmas, but in this time there is no Christmas. But two from our time of this group, want to have Christmas, Dani wants to share this wonderful time with her husband and his brother. And of course problems will find them. Will Dani get her Christmas? Can they solve the problems and then make it happen? If so, will it be a happy Christmas ? You will have to read these books your self to find out. They say you can read this alone and it does give some background to fill you in somewhat. But best if you read all in order to really enjoy it all. They are pretty fast reads, if you read a lot.

Finally. Dani, Levi, Milo & Charmin finally get that much-deserved break in the opening of this book. You can read it out of sequence as there is a little bit of background to fill you in on the gist of it, but I highly recommend reading the series in its entirety and in order – they are all great, fast, fun reads. I’m enjoying their day-to-day routines after so much chaos took up their time and getting an interesting look at holidays, as I know them from a completely different perspective all the while. Of course trouble does find them eventually – how will they get out of it this time? Will Dani get to have a Christmas? I don’t include spoilers so you’ll just have to read for yourself… I read this book in a very short amount of time. As usual with the BP series, there was no putting it down once I started.

This is another great read in the Broken Protocol series. You can't help but love Levi, Dani, Milo and of course Charmin.

This is a nice little holiday read. What do you get the man who can make himself anything? A kidnapping, a visit from the council bots and a Cat with a hankering for pallet of salmon of course :) It's every mans dream!!

Others say this can be read as a stand alone, and technically it can, but to really understand what is going on, you need to read the other books as well, in order. It's no hardship I promise! All of the books in this series are great, fun little reads with a peek into the future.

I hope to read more about these funloving if not a lil bit out there family. The future looks bright for this series....break out the shades!

Would I recommend this book? Yes!!

Would I read more from this author? Absolutely!

Cat's Claus by Dale Mayer
Broken Protocols Series Book Four
Liev and Lani Blackburn along with brother Milo and Charming Marvin...the cat, are taking time on a Pacific island for a vacation. While there, Lani gets to thinking about her old life. In her new reality holidays no longer exist. And if you try to search for information about them...you trigger the government and end up on a list you don't want to be on.
So, how is Lani going to try and bring Christmas to her husband, brother-in-law, and...the one who started it all, Charming? She can't search for decorations without setting off alarms and her husband has everything a man could want and the money to buy whatever he doesn't have.
But she's not a quitter. This is a novella, but still packed full of fun and adventure.

~~~~Katheryn's ★★★★★ Review~~~
This was the cutest book, and way to short. I don't usually get into to book about dirigibles, but oh my goodness this was such a sweet and funny book. Kinda makes you think what it would be like living in that type of future. On the one hand it would be great to be able to order something and have it delivered right then, on the other stepping through portals would be weird but cool at the same time. Can you imagine going to your job and not having to worry about traffic, or gas or getting in a car, you just step right through a portal and you are in your office, ummm can we say mind boggling but also way cool. That cat was sooo funny, and the way he was protective over his tuna, lol. Love they way he argued with Dani over one can of tuna. Oh my goodness, I give this book 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dani and Charmin Marvin are back again and this time they are trying to bring some of their world to future. This new future has done away with holidays and wiped them from history with the indication they are a threat. Dani and Marvin want to share a part of their time with Levi and Milo and Levi and Milo want to make Dani happy. Navigating this new time is a struggle and keeping secrets from a computer genius is not as easy as it looks. Will the past come to the future or will it continue to be kept secret behind firewalls and red tape. Quick read with a steady flowing storyline, loveable characters, love and laughter. Charmin Marvin is in rare form and you are really going to enjoy his antics.
No Christmas or any holidays 200 years from now? NOOOOOO! Dani and Charmin have to find a way to make this silly rule go away. How can a civilization survive without holidays, but yet, that is exactly what the future holds in this story. This is so entertaining to see if the family of the future can bring Christmas back. The way the story is written is very cool. There are flashbacks to how Christmas used to be and how good it used to be, but convincing those in charge now won't be easy if even possible. Loved the cat! I have not read others in this series, but will definitely be checking them out. Merry Christmas!
This is a romantic comedy and it matched the first three perfectly. It is told in the third person which I tend to like more than 1st person. Set in the future even though she is from an earlier time. Charmin and Dani miss their old life and they set about to bring their old ways into the future. I really enjoyed this novella. Charmin is such a character, always hungry but he loves Dani so much and it was fun to read the little things he does to make her feel better. I loved how all the guys set to work on making her happy.
