The Empire is unraveling. Enemies inside and out, each one clawing for power while the throne sits empty. Greed? Sure. But that’s not the whole story.
What happened in the Imperial Palace made one thing clear—this isn’t just politics. Something deeper is moving. Hidden. Coordinated. And its roots stretch further back than anyone guessed.
This isn’t a war for control anymore. It’s a purge.
And if the Palace was only the beginning… whatever comes next won’t be clean.
The best of all the Paladin series I have read thus far! Marcus is certainly intriguing, crazy smart and experienced, charming, and, most significantly, strategically superior (moreso in his role as the head of The Shadow Clan), to the majority of the heads, officers, leading supports, and warriors or soldiers of the other clans. Whenever and where ever he turns up, he either outclasses, obliterates, or overwhelms whomever is foolish enough to challenge him, which usually ends up leaving me laughing so hard I cry.
This entire series is amazing, and worth the time and $$ - you won't regret it! Five stars cubed...
I received a review copy of this book. The Last Paladin book 7 is the latest in this series (of course, at the time of writing), and I really enjoyed this installment of the series. It's a great progression of the overall story, and it's good to see folks being ferreted out for their misdeeds. This is a must read if you've been following the series, but aren't sure if you should continue the series, I say that's an emphatic yes.
Another fantastic instalment for the story. I was eagerly awaiting the release and was not disappointed. Love reading more about Marcus' power and past. Was hoping for more about Max, but maybe in the next book. Sadly another impatient wait for me for the next part.
