I thoroughly enjoyed this book but I wanted more! How did Margaret and Walt survive by taking turns going back to school and settling once they decided that life was short ( after the assassination of JFK) to squander it doing things that they didn’t really enjoy. Walt had become an accountant so that he had a job that would give Margaret the life he thought she wanted. Margaret, after reading the Feminine Mystique realized Walt was trapped like most women were so they decided to shuck the system and lead a less conventional lifestyle but the book doesn’t tell you about these years. I loved the camaraderie of the Betty’s and it’s the same with my own book club. We’ve lived through so much together.
