With a foreword by the legendary Arnold Palmer, this inspired collection includes pieces on golf by such noted writers as Alex Morrison, George Plimpton, Dave Barry, John Updike, Rick Reilly, Herbert Warren Wind, Harvey Penick, and Dan Jenkins.
This book started off poorly for me, when the introduction stated that Arnold Palmer won his first Masters in 1957. Nope, that was Doug Ford. Arnie got his first green jacket in 1958.
There were some pieces in this anthology that I didn't much care for but most were good, a few outstanding.
My favorite was at the very end -- the tale of an 80-something Herman Kaiser traveling to August National Golf Club for the Champions Dinner, an annual gathering just before The Masters. Good stuff.
