Great collection! a real time capsule of 1990s Marvel first issues. Although many issue #1s are not included, the ones that are chosen for this collection do collect an accurate look at beginning points for many series that Marvel Comics had tried. I remember and have a number of the originals, but getting the volume in one sleek hardcover comic collection, results are truly outstanding combined. Most of the stories would never see the light of day again without this Marvel Firsts project.

Sure, there are some stories that were turkeys, but what is important is that the majority of the stories are readable and enjoyable. I would leave anyone else without a list of my favourites, because the list would include more than 20 stories.

What is neat is that this is the first Marvel Firsts Omnibus. I would have expected the 1970s three trade paperbacks and the 1980s trio of TPB to be collected before this one. Looking into the future... It could be possible! I would read them. For every dud of a story, there are 2 gems. Looking through the other decades quick list of contents would not leave me disappointed.

I am a new collector of the Omnibus books from Marvel and DC. Truthfully, I started reading them this past January, what with all these Superhero tv shows and movies gaining momentum. It helps, sitting at a table with a mighty volume that stays open with no problems, getting sucked in for hours at a read. Unlike some of the other Omnibus books that collect one individual run on a title, this one was entertaining for the look into the wide universe that was being created from 1990-1999.

I think I may never by the new monthly titles again, and stick to reading my comics in trade paperbacks and Omnibus collections.
