Hard Justice: Outlaw Ridge #6
Outlaw Ridge: Reed
Sheriff Hallie McQueen has spent her life outrunning the shadow of her past. Ten years ago, she helped take down her parents—infamous serial killers who left a trail of horror in their wake. But when a new string of murders mimics her parents’ crimes, Hallie is forced to relive the nightmare she thought she’d escaped. Teaming up with temporary deputy Reed Winston—a man who once helped her bring her family to justice—Hallie must uncover the truth before more innocent lives are lost. But the deeper they dig, the clearer it becomes that someone is not only reviving her parents’ twisted legacy but also targeting her.
Reed has always known Hallie as strong, determined, and untouchable, but working this case together reveals cracks in her armor—and emotions he can no longer ignore. As the killer closes in, Reed vows to protect Hallie at any cost, even if it means risking his own heart. But the closer they get to the truth, the more dangerous the game becomes. And this time, the killer has made one thing terrifyingly clear—Hallie is meant to be the final victim.

Outlaw Ridge: Reed by Delores Fossen
Hard Justice, Outlaw Ridge Series Book Six
Reed Winston is temporarily at Outlaw Ridge PD but is about to return to Strike Force. He and the new sheriff have a history. He was working with her when she found out that her parents were serial killers, and they helped put them both behind bars. Now, it seems that history is repeating itself.
Sheriff Hallie McQueen’s first day on the job wasn’t quite what she expected. She’s called out to a murder scene. She’s surprised when she finds the scene set up exactly like one of her parents’ murders. Plus, a note on one of the bodies clearly lets her know it’s all about her.
So many could be the villain. Hating Hallie because of her parents. Accusing her of knowing they were killers and letting them continue without turning them in. Everyone seems more guilty by the day. Page-turning suspense with a great storyline.

Reed and Hallie
Hallie has been hired to be the new sheriff in Outlaw Ridge. Some Strike Force operatives are still working there. One is Reed who years before worked with her in bringing her parents to justice. Her parents were serial killers.
This is their story and it is a good one!

Totally enjoyed
This was a quick read for me as the pace of the action kept me fully engaged. It did seem like a big shift from the previous book in the series with Owen stepping away but it makes sense that he did. As a second chance romance, the quick connection made perfect sense.
