Spanked for a New Roof: Female Collateral

Rate this book
Amelia’s school semester’s not going great! Woken from a deliciously naughty dream by a leaking roof, subject to spankings for her sassy attitude thanks to the new Norwegian spanking laws, turned into a financial asset to secure a loan, and driven to try and pay it off by engaging in paid spanking sessions, Amelia has her work cut out for her! But can her poor, aching bottom survive? Will she be turned into property after all? Is Norwegian Mexican food really that bad? And will she ever get to taste cloudberry cream the way it should be tasted?

Enjoy the first book in the Female Collateral series, where the laws of propriety get tossed out the window, but not before being thoroughly spanked!

Here is the review I submitted to Amazon:

I've been following Svalbard's work for a while now, and I think that this is his best so far in terms of quality of writing and character development.
The premise: Amelia Sorengard, is an 18 y/o Norwegian schoolgirl living with her parents. One night she is awakened by a leak in her ceiling directly over her bed. The house needs a new roof.
But, her parents are having some financial difficulties and will need a loan to cover the cost of hiring a roofing contractor.
Svalbard skillfully works in the exposition necessary to explain the situation: Norway and probably the world are in some sort of economic recession, housing values are down so the house is not a viable asset for collateral purposes. However, laws and society in general have changed in such a way that a young woman can be collateral for such a loan.
Amelia, young and naive and wanting to pull her own weight, agrees to offer herself as the collateral.
Meaning that she is tagged and collared as an asset - a full fledged human now, but at risk of being seized as property and sold into what is basically slavery if her parents default.
Meanwhile, the government has changed its attitude in corporal punishment. Parents are encouraged to spank their offspring, and spanking is encouraged in schools.
And, it happens that there is a website where girls can sign up to offer themselves to be spanked in exchange for payment by members of a club.
You see where this is going...
Svalbard does a great job with non-obtrusive exposition. And, what makes this story head and shoulders above the usual erotic novel, he skillfully develops his characters. particularly Amelia. We get a glimpse of the horny teenagers and her crushes on boys, particularly the handsome Lukas. Because Amelia is so real, we feel her fear and her humiliation as well as her perverse pride as she assumes her "asset" status. We also feel her desperation as she begins to suspect that her parents might not be able to repay the loan.
This is a great piece of erotic fiction. The world in which it takes place is believable. The protagonist is well defined, her parents are well defined, the writing is descriptive and evocative.
I also like the fact that there is no antagonist - just the predicament in which Amelia finds herself.
As a bonus, there is a bit of foreshadowing in the opening chapter which makes for a pleasant surprise later on.

My conclusion: Buy this book. It's a light, entertaining read. Sometimes I hesitate over five star ratings, but this one is clearly warranted. Well worth the price!
