What happens when we break up the environments of the creatures around us? They have to go off and look for another place to live. This turtle made it finally to another pond, with an assist from a little boy who just carried it the last part of the way to a new pond and left it, without trying to make it a pet, thank heavens!
My brothers and I received this as a hand-me-down from our older cousins. Now, as I read to my daughter, it still has the same charm and convicting force. The story begins with a turtle surveying the idyllic habitat that he calls home - a pond teeming with life. Before he knows it, humans are filling it with dirt and building a road over it. From then on, Little Turtle embarks on a quest to find another home...
One of the books I enjoyed reading to my little children many, many times. My sister, Jill, and I both enrolled in the "Best Book Club Ever" back in the late 70's/early 80's. My kids and I read every day mornings, nap times and bed times. Some of these books got a lot of lot of mileage on them.
