"Sometimes first love doesn't last, but real love will always persevere."
Maia
Braden was right. He said I was done and I am. Maybe I’ve been done for a while now, but that doesn’t make him walking out on me, and especially Harper, any easier. A month of running away from his life and he finally returns to town, yet I’m the one picking up all the broken pieces he left behind. Now I’m living life as a single mom and trying to figure out—for the first time ever—who I am and what I really want from my life, all while healing from the heartbreak of my first love falling apart. This isn’t how I saw my life going. But I think I’m okay with that. I’m ready to move on, find myself, and maybe even consider falling in love again.

Nick
My best friend ghosted me. Broke up with Maia, walked out on his daughter, and left town. Even if he is back now, he’s not exactly making an effort to fix what he broke. And for me, he’s become a reminder of a dark piece of my past, my own father abandoning me. How the hell do I reconcile the guy who used to be my best friend with the person he’s become? I don’t know. But there is one silver lining. In Braden’s absence, I’ve been spending more time with Leigh. She’s still the ultimate pipe dream, but lately I think I might be weakening the walls she uses to guard herself. Call me crazy, but I’m starting to believe I might just have a shot with Leigh Romero.

Bethany Monaco Smith did it again with another gut-wrenching and emotional story of young love and coming of age. This is book two of the series and I would recommend reading book one before starting book two.

The books starts off with Maia picking up the pieces after book one, and trying to find a balance with raising Harper as a single teen mom. She has such an incredible support system with her family and friends, but there’s a struggle she needs to navigate as Braden returns.

Watching the relationships unfold between Maia, Vince, Nick and Leah, which trying to reach out to Braden was such an emotional ride. The characters are dynamic and real. You feel as if you’re in their group and going through all of this with them.

I can’t wait for book three!

First and foremost, a huge thank you to Bethany for allowing me to be an ARC reader! I feel truly blessed having been able to read this.

What an incredible follow-up to the first book, Freaking Love: Part One: First Love. After the other shoe finally dropped at the end of the first, with Braden leaving both Maia and Harper, we’re left with Maia having a major panic attack. She hasn’t really had one in a while since having Harper. The only people who have learned how to truly navigate these are her dad, and her best friend, Vince. When Maia’s dad, Leo, calls Vince after she’s finally gone to sleep, it’s all a different world from that point on. This includes getting the book from Nick’s point of view as well, and his blooming relationship with Maia’s best friend, Leigh.

Maia’s world has been broken. Her heart has been shattered, her world is a bit upside down, and her trust has been exponentially broken. She was already navigating how to handle a baby as a high school student, but now having to do that without Braden? She knew it might happen, but for him to just leave…lie to his parents…and randomly (or not so randomly) hook up with someone else? It broke her. With school starting soon, she came to rely even further on her best friends. Their group had always been Leigh, Nick, Vince, Braden and her, but now Braden was out, and after all of the rumors the year prior, she’s walking into a new school year with a different perspective and a broken heart. Both Nick and Vince are huge supports for Maia…because they’ve been on the receiving end of a parent walking out. Getting Nick’s feelings throughout all of this though was a whirlwind. He was also a party boy, and changed more than I think most people realized so he could be there for Maia…and more importantly, Leigh.

Navigating a life with a baby is hard enough when you’re an adult and ready for it, but being in high school still? Figuring out how to co-parent with the boy that walked away when he still doesn’t have his own things figured out and keeps lying to his own family? It’s all a lot to handle. Vince is the saving grace. He’s the person that’s there for Maia, no matter what. Not only is he there for Maia, but he’s there for Harper. Harper deserves the world as a baby, and Maia deserves the world for trying to figure it all out, which is what Vince wants to continue to give them both. How do you do that when the boy that broke her, and used to be one of the group, waltzes back in and keeps trying to make things harder? How do you do it all when Maia asks you not to interfere?

Nick is in a similar boat. He got asked not to interfere, but he wants to be there for her, and for Leigh. Leigh is so guarded, and has every wall built up around her, but it makes her more human. It makes her a fierce protector…who also needs a bit of protecting and a lot of love. The kind of love that she hasn’t received but Nick is willing to give. Those Ardito boys are something else. They’re exactly who Leigh and Maia need. Can either of them see that for what it truly is?

More importantly in all of this, can Braden figure his life out enough for Leigh, Nick and Vince not to want to smack him upside the head at every turn? Figure it out enough to be Harper’s dad? Figure it out enough to at least be friendly enough with Maia FOR Harper? Can he figure it out enough so his parents aren’t constantly worrying that he’s not someone they know anymore?

There’s a lot to digest throughout the book, but it makes it so much more special. If you were also someone who grew up in a small town that was a fairly tight-knit community, this book will mean even more to you! I cannot wait for the third book, and to get the answers to some further questions I had coming out of this. I will say too, there are a couple of twists to this story that, if you did come from a small town, you may see before they happen…but they will hit your emotional buttons so hard that you won’t be quite sure how to recover from them.

This is the second book in this emotional contemporary romance series focusing on feelings and friends to lovers romance. The author brings Maia and Harper, Braden and Vince, Nick and Leah into this story expanding on the main characters from the first book. This book is full of steamy scenes, love, and drama as these high schoolers navigate life, relationships, feelings, and mistakes. I love how the author presents this story; even if it has new adult romance, she makes it emotional and drama-filled. Vince and Maia definitely have a hard road ahead of them; add in Braden's drama and taking care of Harper. This story is a huge rollercoaster ride. Nick and Leah are just beginning after a very rocky start but are already in over their heads. The author captivated us, readers, with the soap opera of teenage life and the supportive families that surround this small-town romance.

We begin this book with Maia in a full-blown panic attack, not that I can blame for the emotional events of the first part of this series. Maia is going thru the worst thing and even worse than finding out she was pregnant as a teenager. But she is so intelligent and mature, and I truly love how much she thinks about actions before doing them. Vince is very steadfast support in Maia and Harpers' life.

I like that we are getting the continuation of Maia and Braden and their relationship with Nick and Leah in this story. We jump to Nicks's perspective; he is a friend to Maia and Braden. Nick likes Leah, and they are kindred souls, having dealt with a bunch of very familiar stuff. This book will gut you emotionally.

Co-parenting and emotions are hard as Maia and Braden navigate life without a relationship. I really feel for Maia through all of this. She is very mature and so caring but genuinely has been broken. Leah and Nick get hot and heavy, and wow, it gets steamy between all the couples. This book brings some unexpected twists toward the end for all the characters. I can't believe the author ended that drama on a cliffhanger.

OMG! These books just keep getting better. I don’t want to spoil anything so here’s a short note.

Maia deals with co-parenting with Braden, self-development, and opening her heart to love again. Her new love interest will make you swoon. They balance each other out in so many ways. Although she’s moved on romantically, she is aware Braden will always be in her life. After all, they are parents to a cute 1yr old girl. But shit hits the fan when she tells Braden who her new beau is.

Braden slowly works on rebuilding his relationship with Harper, Maia and Nick. But it’s a tumultuous rollercoaster ride that he is not properly strapped into.

What’s great about book 2, is having Nick’s point of view. Still pinning for Leigh, he takes the plunge and finally expresses his feelings for her. What comes next was slightly anticipated, but shocking nonetheless.

Can’t wait to read book three. The cliffhanger threw a dagger in my heart.

I received an ARC from BookFunnel in exchange for an honest review.

After reading Freaking Love - book one, I had an idea of how I wanted book two to play out and it did not disappoint. I loved the direction Bethany has taken this story and couldn’t wait to see how it all panned out.

The dual POV from different couples (Maia and Nick) was an added bonus, providing two love stories in one. I would have loved to have read both Vince’s and Leigh’s POV also. But I understand that sometimes it’s better to leave certain characters thoughts as a mystery.

Once again, it’s the friendships and characters that really hook me in to this series. Bethany makes you want to know the stories of almost every character you meet.

This story is heartfelt and emotional, while still offering a nice amount of heat. Bethany manages to keep it real as she tackles young love, first love, real love as well as being a teenage parent and heartbreak.

While this book does end on a cliffhanger, the good news is that book three isn’t far away.

I loved this book. I don’t know what to say other than I loved this book and it rocked me at the end. It is totally worth the read even if you don’t typically read coming of age or new adult books.

I love the way Bethany Monaco Smith writes. She has a way of pulling me in until I feel like I am a part of the Ida world. I am pulling for each one of these characters in different ways. Some I love and just want to succeed. Some I just want to say wake up, fix this, you can do it!! I want to be their personal cheerleader, but at the same time kick their ass. Others I just want to see where they land, can they figure it out? This book truly left me in an emotional hangover. I couldn’t pick up another book for the rest of the day. I could only veg out in front of the tv with my kiddos.

If you haven’t read Freaking Love Part One, read it. Get ready. You’ll want to be on this roller coaster until the very end. 💕

Rip my HEART out with that ending Bethany! Incredible but oh my gosh!!! This book was even more emotional than the last and I didn’t think that could happen! I am so ready for book three to piece everything together. Let me tell you, when they say life is a journey, this book is so true to that. It gives you all the feels. Makes you so emotional but you won’t want to put it down.

I don’t want to spoil a thing, because you have to read this beautiful story, you be put through the wringer, but isn’t that what life is? Obstacles and fun? The journey all these characters take is amazing. You get the story of Maia, Braden and a new guy (who I love and am routing for hard). A guy who has been there for Maia. She deserves happiness but mostly stability. Then you have Nick and Leigh, and their journey. At first I thought I might get confused with all the characters but Bethany’s writing is so clear and concise you know who is who and what is going on. This is a great series, one you will fall hard for the characters. A must read. Sooooo excited for what is to come!

This is suchhhh an emotional read but oh my gosh so incredible. It had me all in my feelings and reaching for a box of tissues.

Bethany has such a way with writing and know how to pull you in. I feel so invested in these characters and their story. I’m so ready for part three and just praying it has a HEA!

If you love a small town romance that is an emotional roller coaster you want to read this, it’s absolutely amazing. You get your share of love, drama and even steamy scenes. It’s pretty well rounded but be ready for the tears.

This is available now.. make sure to start with Freaking love part one!

Thank you so much Bethany for this incredible story and even more for letting me read this ARC!

Part one of this series did such a splendid job of introducing us to these characters! As I started this book, I was able to jump right in exactly where I left off. Bethany didn’t miss a beat! This book writes from the views of Maia and Nick and is perfection. Not a typical her side and his side, this is EVERYTHING! As a reader, I feel as if Bethany allowed these characters to reach out of the pages and firmly grab my heart. I’m connected to them now, I’m apart of the big Italian family, I feel what they feel. Exactly what I want when reading! Kudos to you Bethany!! I appreciate the opportunity to be an ARC reader. ❤️

Hands down amazing! I loved the first book so much but I’m so happy with how she continued their stories and how she dug deeper with the other main characters! I also love the fact that she shows how challenging co-parenting can be sometimes. The book feels very real. I love seeing Maia and Vince’s relationship bloom & Nick and Leigh’s too! Being a teen parent is tough it’s not all rainbows and butterflies so I’m really glad that got highlighted throughout the story.

I do feel bad for Braden In this book but I also hate him 🙃 we have a love hate relationship. I do hope he gets his sh*t together for Harpers sake tho. But I love Maia and Vince together so I hope he doesn’t try to ruin that.

Overall 10/10 recommend!!

Will Braden finally grow up??? I want all the HEA please!!! Can’t wait to read next book.

I read this book in one go and ended up staying up all night to finish it because I just couldn't put it down.

The gang is back and part two of Freaking Love picks up where part one ends and this time we follow both Maia and Nick.

While Maia deals with being a single mom and maybe having feelings for her best friend (#TeamVince), Nick has to face his feelings for Leigh head on as they grow closer in the aftermath of Braden skipping town and leaving Maia and their daughter Harper.

As with part one this book ends on a cliffhanger with events affecting the tight knit group of friends and family.

As always I love being part of the ARC team for this series and I can't wait to get my grabby hands on part three!

I needed more after book one, but I didn't know THIS was what I needed. All the characters go on such individual, realistic and crazy journeys, from start to end. Being on team-Braden was harder this book, and I'm eagerly awaiting book three!!!

This book is chock-full of emotions, from smiles to tears, and I will be in a book-hangover for the next few days while I recover. It contains sex scenes, so if this bothers you with characters under 18, this might not be the book for you.

Freaking Love part 2…With Braden acting out, Maia has to learn to move on. Take care of their baby. Follow their journey learning to co-parent and moving forward.

Also a second story begins with Nick and Leigh. Will their secret crush for each other come to light?

The writing is excellent. Like part one, these two stories are filled with emotion and humor. Well worth reading!

The sign of a great book is one that sucks you in so fast you just cannot put it down. And Freaking Love does that. I started it in the morning and by that night I accomplished nothing but tofall in love with Vince. Ms. Smith does an amazing job at creating multiple characters that you want to route for and see figure everything out.
Maia is a young mother whose trying to juggle learning to be a mom and being a teenager. she is blessed to have a strong support system in both her parents and her friends. And her best friend Vince is one of her strongest supporters. I love watching them go from friends to more. They compliment each other so well and I was thrilled when they finally got clued in to that fact.
It ends on a major cliffhanger and I CANNOT wait for book 3.
This is the second book in the series and I suggest you read the first one before this one.

This second part of Bethany’s saga hit me right in the feels. I am so beyond happy for Maia. I know that none of what she’s gone through is easy, but the way she has handled it with grace and with the love of her family is awe-inspiring. I love the way that Vince dotes on her and shows her that he really is there for her no matter what. I am still very much team “Braden get your life together so I can love you again”! Nick and Leigh, oh WOW! I think they are a good balance for each other. I am immensely scared for the two of them coming in Part 3 but I have faith that Bethany will give us a beautiful story either way. If you have t started book 1, wait no further. This story is gripping and full of heartbreak, love, family and friends. You do not want to miss it!

The Freaking Love series holds a special place in my heart. From the beginning I became emotionally invested in all of the characters, especially Braden, and found myself rooting for all of them.

I have read this book twice now. The first time I read it, I bawled my eyes out multiple times throughout it. The story is full of so much emotion and you just cannot help but feel for all the characters and what they are going through. It is an honest telling of the struggles of teen parenting and first love and I admire it. It honestly has felt like one of the most realistic books that I have ever read and I truly appreciate that.

Unlike most people, I will forever be on Team Braden. There is just something about him as a character that speaks to me and all I want is for him to be in a good place. He comes off as such an asshole and someone who manages to do so much wrong but if you look at the signs and really think about it, there are a lot of underlying issues and reasonings for the way he is behaving. I cannot wait to find out what those reasonings are and to learn even more about him in the next book.

Seriously, amazing work. Another masterpiece.

Freaking Love pt2.. yes another cliff hanger... it's a 3 part book! And it's totally worth it... although fair warning this cliff hanger isnt going to be easy!...

So I'm just gonna say it... holy f*ck balls! Pardon the language but damn did book 2 take you on a emotional rollercoaster. Let's start with Maia because man how strong this girl is throughout it all. 18, with a baby, going gr o highschool, working and trying to hold it all and everyone together. She struggling to find a balance that gives her and Braden some closure where they can not only co parent together but be friends. And hes fighting her every step of the way. And that can't be easy. But shes so grown up about it andnpay 18 that's so rare to see. Then theres her new found feelings for Vince. Shes got alot on her plate but stands tall through it all.
Then you have Braden... Mr Hot Mess Express. I'd really like to get inside his head because from the outside it just doesnt make sense. His sabotaging every aspect of his life, and then blaming it on everyone else. Hopefully we will find out in book 3! Because it has to get better right?!
Vince... well knight in shining armor. Falls in love with his best friend. But could he be more perfect. I mean hes always there for maia. He knows exactly what she needs andntryly cares for her as her best friend before boyfriend. And I absolutely love their relationship. Yes I'm sad that it disnt work with Braden but so happy that shes getting the happiness she deserves in her relationship. I hope it sticks.
Nick. I can understand his frustration with Braden. And the war he battles. He wants to be a good friend to everyone and hes struggling because his best friend is making it so hard to be there for him. Also side note I think hes gonna make an amazing father. And I cant wait to watch. Also I love how he fought for Leigh! And put his foot down and told her what he wanted! Yes!!
Leigh. Strong fierce and guarded. Rightfully so. I'm so glad she finally let her guard down and gave Nick a chance. I know that they will have a bumpy road to travel but I have no doubt they can do it. I just hope that they learn to be ope. And honest.

I hope book 3 brings the group back to 5 and not just 4. I'm excited for it!

Once again Bethany has your complete attention right from the start. Book one left off where Braden walks out on Maia and their daughter Harper. He cannot handle the responsibility of having a daughter and not being able to do what he wants. We find Maia having to do it all while being a student, a daughter, a friend and most importantly a single mother. Luckily her support system included her family and close friends that always had her back. One special person was Vince, her childhood best friend, next to Braden, but she always looked at him as a friend. He stepped up to be the person, the man, that Maia could rely on. Even with Braden back, Vince was the one person that she relied on. To see their friendship grow into something more was beautiful. Will she be able to open her heart again to a childhood friend or is it going to be under guard?

I loved the addition of Nick and Leigh's story in this one. Nick is Vince's brother as well as Braden's best friend and has been like one to Maia as well. Leigh is Maia's best friend but more like a sister to her. These two have all feels for one another but will not admit it. Funny how both brothers have feelings that they are afraid to admit to them.

We have yet another cliffhanger that will have your stomach in knots and a lump in your throat. What more can Bethany do to us? Cannot wait for part three. Will there be love in the future for Maia and Vince? What will happen with Braden? Will Nick and Leigh finally admit their feelings? Freaking Love: Reall Love is part two of this series and must be read after Freaking Love: First love.

SPOILERS FOR END OF BOOK ONE BELOW.

Maia is navigating motherhood on her own since Braden left, and she refuses to fall for a friend again. Braden is spiraling and he doesn't know how to fix his life. Nick is in love with Leigh, but does she even see it?

The first book in this series, Freaking Love Part 1: First Love left me feeling very stabby due to Braden's immature behavior. I knew Maia deserved better and I really wanted her to kick the jerk to the curb and choose Vince instead. Good news! This second installment made me much happier in that regard, but Braden still makes me want to tie him to a chair and place tarantulas and scorpions on his body and drop lice eggs in his hair. Really not a fan.

We're taken on another roller coaster ride in this second book, Real Love, and it ends in a major cliffhanger, so hold on tight! And not only do we get to see Maia and Vincent grow closer, we also get a bonus romance with Nick and Leigh! I highly recommend this series, and I can't wait for the third book to come out!

Thank you to the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
