Liz Salazar has a reputation for being wild, and it’s well-earned. But the women of Evansville, Texas, choose to overlook it since she’s an excellent stylist, with her own shop on the square. But when the handsome young mayor shows interest in Liz, that’s a different story. Suddenly everyone has an opinion, and none of them are positive.
Killian Dawson has always toed the line. He continued his father’s legacy by running for mayor, and is leading the town of Evansville through the changes brought about by the oil boom. His one rebellion is his interest in Liz Salazar. He’s had a crush on her for years, and he’s ready to make his move despite the town’s disapproval.
The reaction of the town is predictable, but the more time he spends with her, the more he knows she’s the one for him. And she is ready to change her ways, but not until after taking him on a wild Texas swing.
This couple could be friends of mine. Easy to like and understand, funny by and loveable. The story's written well and keeps the pages turning quickly. Now, on to number 3!
Loved this story, the story of opposites attract, which in this case I am really happy about. The Mayor and the girl with a bad reputation...TURNS OUT TO BE A REALLY AWESOME MATCH...LOVED IT
I liked the first book in this series, but it didn't grab me the way THAT WILD TEXAS SWING did. The unlikely romance between Liz, the town bad girl, and Killian, the mayor laid a solid foundation for conflict, and MJ worked through the resolution very well.
She used some fascinating subtlety as well during the annual unpleasant dinner with the step-siblings when the nephew indicated to Killian that UT was his top choice for college. In an A&M family, this is sacrilege. Non-Texas readers may not understand how crucial that exchange was to highlight the familial rift.
What a delightful surprise "That Wild Texas Swing" was. I expected a light, easy, chicklit type of romance. It was anything but with deep emotions that tugged at your heartstrings. The story was less about Liz taking Killian on a 'wild ride' than about her coming to terms with her past and reputation as they navigated their romance amidst the town's disapproval. With all of the wonderful build up surrounding Liz and Killian's romance, I felt the conclusion was a bit abrupt but, regardless, would definitely recommend "That Wild Texas Swing" by M.J. Fredrick. I liked the first book in Lost in a Boom Town series, so I eagerly picked up That Wild Texas Swing. In the beginning, Liz Salazar, with her wild reputation, was a bit unusual for a romance heroine, but her emotional journey throughout the book had surprising depth. It's difficult to have a romance with an attractive mayor Killian Dawson amid the disapproval of town people, but it's even more difficult to come to terms with what made you the way you are. As always in Ms. Fredrick's books, the characters are easy to connect to, and the plot is believable and engaging. I look forward to reading Book 3 in the series.

Such a fun read!! Bad girl Liz and the good guy Killiuan, the mayor, start seeing each other, much to the dismay of their small town. This book is breezy and romantic, with a few surprising twists. I love how book 2 has the same characters as the first book, although they're minor characters now, but it still catches you up from where book one ended. I'm hooked on this series and can't wait to read the next book!!
Liz is a bad girl gone good, but it seems no one wants to let go of her past. Killian is a man who can see past her past & love her for who she is. What a great lead, you have to love a man who love for who you are not who he wants you to be. 5 well earned stars.
I loved this book. She was the proverbial "bad" girl and he was the town's shining star. And everyone in a small town feel as if they have a right to have a say in his love life. Will he convince her that she is good enough for him? Read to see. Highly recommend.
I've read the first two books, and they're crazy, sassy, and fun! I grew up in a small Texas town, and MJ Fredrick could've been my best friend/neighbor!
