The Villains of Wolf Hollow #2

The Dragon's Daughter

Rate this book
I knew the score when I came to Wolf Hollow.
Get in, get out with as much cash and treasure as possible. Easy, simple and nothing that I haven’t accomplished before.
Except somewhere along the way I made a wrong turn.
Now I’m trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the most vicious and captivating woman I have ever met. It’s a race to the finish line and I’m not so sure I will make it out of this one alive.
I thought being the wolf meant I’m the bad guy. Now I know I was never at the top of the food chain.
That spot has always belonged to the hunter.
And Calista Drache just so happens to be looking for a new fur coat.

Enthralling, sensual, and gritty!

The Dragon’s Daughter is a spicy, seductive tale that plunges you into the dangerous world of ruggedly handsome Christopher Deville who, after heading to the notoriously perilous Wolf Hollow to pull off the biggest heist of his life, encounters a slight wrinkle in his plan when he collides with the merciless, viciously bad girl Calista Drache.

The writing is titillating and intense. The characters are multilayered, obsessive, impulsive, and combustible. And the fast-paced, unapologetically salacious plot brims with danger, desire, drama, temptation, tenderness, mystique, scorching chemistry, deception, secrets, and a sizzling, high-stakes romance.

I honestly don’t know how to fully convey how much I loved The Dragon’s Daughter. It completely blew me away. Exceptionally detailed, darkly intense, and wildly creative, this is a standout tale by Everhart featuring a vivid cast of quirky characters I absolutely devoured. It’s a highly recommended read and one which will undoubtedly remain one of my favorite books of 2026.

4.5⭐️

I received a review copy and these are my thoughts:

WHAT WAS THIS BOOK?!?!! WOW! The last 10% left my heart pounding!

Jade’s writing is beautiful, almost poetic. She has a knack for writing broken characters and manages to find an incredible balance between world building, character development and plot when many times, one of these will take a major backseat. I did not feel this in TDD.

The world that Jade creates is complex, eerie and dangerous. Wolf Hollow is an unhappy, dark, gray-scale town, populated by villains and with each book, she adds depth and intricate details to build her set.

The MC’s backstories were both terribly heartbreaking and very much a contributing factor to the people they grew up to be, but beneath all the layers of trauma and pain, we find people who are still capable of love and kindness (mostly Christopher but Calista had her moments).

Calista and Christopher are in a way, kindred spirits. Both endured physical and emotional abuse as children and were both left with physical scares.

She’s a beautiful, intelligent, badass woman, with a vendetta against men (abusers). Christopher is a cocky playboy with a flare for explosives and breaking into safes. He thought he was going to waltz into Wolf Hollow and charm everyone with his British bad boy looks and accent, get “the job done” and be out in one piece. Calista wiped the smugness right off his handsome face because she was smarter and had bigger plans for him, for them. These two made quite the team. What we get throughout the book is the peeling back of the layers and tough exteriors these two present. He lends her the light she needs to rescue what is left of her humanity after having been stripped of it by years of continued abuse, and in turn, she sees and embraces the neglected and ill-loved little boy in him. Their chemistry is undeniable and their witty banter adds a level of humour and “lightness” to an otherwise, heavier story.

The plot twists just kept coming! The last 10% of the book left me speechless and with a pounding, bruised heart, when the deepest, darkest secrets were exposed.

Loved the side-characters that were introduced and Marlin made an appearance but he was a very bad boy! He was cruel and very much the psychopath we met in book 1 but somehow, both he and Melody (who also made an appearance) were even more unhinged than I remember from book 1.

Special mention to Ronan - Calista’s sidekick, her Doberman. They had the sweetest relationship and interactions.

I wasn’t sure how the story was going to end, but I was very happy with the ending. It was very satisfying after EVERYTHING that had happened!

*As always, please check trigger warning before picking up any dark romance. TWs include, but are not limited to: violence (physical, psychological/emotional), abuse (in the past), gore and torture, open door spice.

5⭐️ for The Dragon's Daughter by Jade Everhart

Holy h*ll Jade has done it again, delivered a book that is so steamy and delicious I couldn't put it down. Calista already had my heart in book 1 (The Sea Witch's Son, also a must-read!) but with this book focused on her it made me fall even harder.

Calista is the unhinged FMC of my dreams, strong, fierce, badassery personified but with the saddest backstory, I just wanted to hug her but she'd probably stab me for even trying. The twist was so cleverly woven into the story, it was absolute perfection.

The trauma bonding was on point, both her and Christopher had me tearing up at what they've had to endure, and I loved that they just *got* each other. They understood each other's pain, and together they became a force of nature.

I love a found family trope, and I loved this one; Christopher's especially, but also Calista's, even if it was more subtle.

Villains are fascinating characters, and I love that Jade doesn't shy away from making them actually violent and morally black (not grey, but fully black) because they actually are villains, not just pretending to be. Check TW before diving into this one but know that it is dark, spicy, violent and absolutely deliciously written.

I highlighted SO MANY quotes reading this, Jade's writing is absolutely phenomenal, and the way it perfectly sets up the next book in the series? Loved it!

Thank you to Jade Everhart for a copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

Jade Everhart takes us Back to Wolf Hollow where the villains’ offspring are always getting up to no good, but this time, there is a new player in town.
Christopher Deville is the thief extraordinaire who wears his heart on his sleeves but whose tattoos hide a dark trauma. Calista Drache wears her scars proudly and can’t help but wonder what all that ink is covering up. From the moment they meet, there’s undeniably chemistry, but nothing good ever comes from Wolf Hollow. These characters will need to decide what is worth fighting for and who they are once they strip themselves of the masks they wear.

To start off 2026 with a book like this was a blessing. The Dragon’s Daughter was a book that I could overanalyze to my heart's content.
You could tell that every detail was intentionally woven by Jade Everhart to create a story as layered as its characters.

Importantly, Christopher’s background helps him understand Calista Drache in a way no one else seems to. But do you know what I love? The way Christopher was never this knight in shining armour that Calista's just been waiting for her whole life.

And on that note, give me the female main characters who AREN'T easy to love.
The ones who only want you to see their masks so we can confirm to them that they are the monsters they see when they look in the mirror.
Give me the women who are broken beyond what they think is repairable.
Then, give me the male main characters who do everything in their power to help that FMC find her spark again. I don't want the MMC who comes in hoping to fix everything and thinking they can save someone who they themselves think is past saving.
No, I want the man who stands by, on the sidelines, to remind the woman who she is every time she thinks she’s been kicked down one too many times. Honestly, give me characters like Calista and Christopher every day because boy did I love them.

And what do I love even more than these kinds of characters? Jade Everhart's writing.
She has a way of transporting us to Wolf Hollow as if we were really there. A heaviness settles over you the second you get back into this world, that isn't entirely unwelcome.
The eerie vibes and traumatic revelations were back in full force and Jade ensured to put her own twists on classic Disney lore with her retelling in this story.

The Dragon's Daughter was filled with darkness but also hopefulness at the end that I wasn't quite expecting. It reminds us that all of our cracks can be beautiful, as long as we believe that that's so.
It's for the dreamers in us, the broken hearted who want to feel better, but who don't always know how to get there.
Calista is the sad girl prototype, but she adds a certain level of fierceness that I've been missing in a lot of the "broken" characters I've come to love. What a beautiful balance that provided.

I am so happy that Jade is extending this series past two books because I am not ready to let go of these characters and this world just yet!!

This is a book you’ll want to add to your TBR this year if you love :
🐉 Mafia princess x thief newcomer vibes
🐉 Dark romance x Disney retelling
🐉 Fierce & broken FMC
🐉 Golden retriever British MMC with a traumatic background
🐉 Praise kinks
🐉 Dangerous heists and high stakes
🐉 Plot twists that you saw coming but also didn’t 🤪

And even if you don’t love all of these, you’re sure to love this read nonetheless ♥️

Huge thank you to Jade for trusting me with this e-arc ✨

Jade did it again🥹💚 Maleficent’s daughter x Cruella’s son! When she dropped the teasers, I had a feeling that Calista’s story and why she’d become a villain would absolutely break me and IT DID!

My heart is breaking for Calista! She’s an absolute baddie, calculative, deeply guarded, unhinged and arrogant and I absolutely adored her strength for surviving the things that broke her and being forced to grow up and learn to fight while being so young so she could fight the world❤️‍🩹 This was pure feminine rage :')) the way her future wasn’t hers to belong with! I could write about Calista all day long honestly🥺 just me wishing to jump into the book and protect her!

Christopher’s charming, gentle yet snarky! His love is so tender that made my heart squeeze! He grew up in a world where love is punished! But I’m glad that didn’t make him cold! This man wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t afraid to submit to his woman hello?☹️ The way Calista did not have to hide her scars from him because he would find them no matter the layers she tryna cover them with!

It was giving "I don’t need your protection" and “I’ll still protect you" HELP ME that was so sweet🥺 it’s two people finding each other while carrying their own woulds and secrets! My heart breaks for the fact that they both were denied the childhood they deserved🥲
The tension between them since their first meet was palpable with them realizing they both were dangerous and could ruin each other’s plan!

And there were moments where I cackled so loud (constant bickering between christopher and marlin!!!!) and blushed so hard! The revelations at the end made made my head spin because my dumb brain was only able to catch up with the hints later on but still🤯

And Christopher’s family! Especially Horace!!!😆😩 This found family was everything where they were the safe space for each other! With them accepting Calista, it was heartwarming to watch it because after everything that she had been through, my girl deserves that!

Thank you for the ARC, Jade! 💚

Favourite quotes:

“And I broke things off because I found myself craving the company of someone else.” “I found myself wanting to choose you.”

“I quite like being threatened by beautiful women. Don’t mind being punished by them either.”

“This woman is the embodiment of temptation and I’m tempted to let her do whatever the fuck she wants with me.”

“Calista Drache is a fighter alright and I have a sneaking suspicion I’m the sucker standing on the other side.“

“And if I were to take you home and tie you up, just for a little fun, what would you say to that, Devil?” “Lead the way, darling.”

“You may not have chosen this life but you do get to choose the people you love.” “And if you’re really lucky, they might choose to love you too.”

“Darling.” “You never fail to ruin my evening.”
“I aim to please.”
“One of these days, I would really love to be disappointed.”

AMAZING! A massive thank you to Jade Everhart for the ARC. I have been absolutely feral for this book since it was announced, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. While I went in expecting the high-stakes action and "cat and mouse" game promised in the blurb, I was not expecting the incredible journey of emotional recovery this story turned out to be.

Both Calista and Christopher are such powerhouse leads, but I have to talk about Christopher specifically. He is written as this strong, morally grey thief, but honestly, he is so much more than that. I loved that he isn't afraid to submit to Calista; he knows that showing her his truth and his trauma is okay. It was so moving to see a male lead who acknowledges his scars and is open about his desire to be loved by his mom. Watching them both navigate their deep trauma—both physical and mental—was incredibly emotional and rewarding.

Also, can we talk about the Disney Easter eggs?! They were absolutely awesome and such a fun addition to the story. Be prepared, because this book is SPICY; the chemistry is off the charts and the banter is absolutely top-tier. Even though some of the tropes aren't usually my "go-to," the writing was so compelling that I loved every single minute of it. The found family aspect was another standout, and I would have loved even more of Christopher's team because their dynamic is just that good. This book hits every mark: big heists, non-stop action, and deeply resonant character growth. The lead-up to book three has me so excited, though I’m already sad that we have to wait a while!

The Dragon’s Daughter by Jade Everhart
@authorjade_everhart

Book Review : 5 ⭐️
Spice Level : 3.5 🌶️

Guys, to say I’m obsessed with this story is an understatement.
I want to say Thank you to Jade Everhart for trusting me to be apart of her team and for the opportunity to get an ARC of this book!

This book pulled me in way faster than I expected. This book really said “What if Disney villains grew up, joined the mafia, and caught feelings?” and I will never recover.

The praise kink? Immaculate.
The tension? Constant.
The spice and unforgiving love? Memorable.
The Disney Easter eggs? Dark, clever, and ridiculously fun to catch.

The main Characters, Calista and Christopher have an intense connection, it was messy, feral and built through dangerous heists, shared trauma, and a bond that feels just as destructive as it is addictive.

The Dragon’s Daughter had me hooked from page one. The characters, emotional tension, and the mix of found family and romance had me fully locked in and desperately rooting for them the entire time.

One of my favorite parts? The Disney Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the book. They’re clever, dark, and woven in so smoothly that they add an extra layer of fun without pulling you out of the story. If you love spotting subtle nods and twisted fairytale vibes, you’re going to eat this up.

I am FERAL! This book was seriously brilliant. Twists, and secrets, and oh my that HEAT! I am honestly already ready for a reread because I NEED more! That prologue speaks to Jade's genius because the crossover from her previous series was perfection. This book was EVERYTHING. Hauntingly beautiful and horrifying and so much f*cking fun. This review might seem like I'm laying it on a little thick with the praise but trust me when I see it's well earned! Read this. Read everything Jade Everhart has written. Then send me a DM to thank me for my praise kink. You're welcome 😜

Jade has nailed it again. Maleficent's daughter and Cruelle Devilles Son are pure perfection. The banter, tension and chemistry of these two is the chefs kiss. Christopher Deville is firmly cemented in book boyfriend royalty. I loved Marlin but the Devil as Calista calls him knocked him off his perch. Definitely recommend
