Alexander Carson (1776-1844) was converted young and trained for the Presbyterian ministry in Northern Ireland. He ultimately embraced the Baptist view of baptism by immersion and published a well-known defence of that position.Providence Unfolded is an extended essay on three aspects of Divine Providence as demonstrated in the events of the Book of Esther. He shows that Providence overrules events before difficulties occur, the precise circumstances of the difficulty itself and is pivotal in bringing about deliverances. Attention is given to the honouring of free agency on the part of all involved and how God brings his purposes about without miraculous intervention.Written at a time when even evangelical commentators were succumbing to liberal attitudes to the canonicity of the Book of Esther, Carson shows the artificial nature of the arguments advanced by critics and demonstrates the value of the book for believers.Based on an edition published in 1851, this has been completely re-typeset for issue as an eBook.
