Highly recommend this one!
This is my first time with the author, and as such, I jumped into this series with Tomato Jam
I had no issues following who was who and such. You get all the small-town hijinks, the little rivalries, families, and friendships, the everyday struggles and successes, along with the more sinister side of small-town politics.
It was a perfectly paced read that blends everyday life moments with a bit of mystery and a whodunit. The author did a fabulous job of bringing the characters to life and making me feel as though I was part of all the hubbub.
I will admit this took me down a couple of rabbit holes - Seriously -
Burro racing? Tomato jam?
Back to this sorrdid mess that has our Roxanne up in arms
Roxanne has been hanging out with her bff, Laurel, while she and Peggy Sue practiced for the Burro race, when Roxanne stumbled upon a burro and his not-so-alive handler. Turns out the body is connected to Laurel, and thanks to a very inept Sheriff, Laurel is their prime suspect.
What else can Roxanne do but find the truth and prove her friend's innocence?
With the help of her staff, family, and friends, she sets out to find the real killer.
And along the way, she uncovers so much more...
(I want to note I so did not see the twist coming)
This is the perfect read when you just want to relax and get away for a while
