When a magical necklace chooses you, surviving supernatural society becomes the least of your problems.
Silver thought learning about vampires, werewolves, and dragons was challenging enough. Then a freaking magical artifact decided to make her its new owner — and suddenly she's caught in the crossfire of Julian's fight for freedom.
Julian has been owned for nearly three centuries. First by an opera company, then by his vampire maker. His current owner, the local Master Vampire, devises a path to his freedom — but the price is steeper than either he or Silver could have imagined.
Silver has survived everything supernatural society could throw at her, and she's navigated a world of fangs and claws on her own terms. But when Julian's quest for freedom demands she participate in the trial-by-fire, she discovers that loving someone means being willing to fight battles you never saw coming.
The road to Julian's independence demands sacrifices that will test them both. Silver must provide control far beyond anything she's ever been asked to give. Julian must prove he can become a man worthy of freedom — and of Silver's love — even when it means enduring punishments that push him far past his breaking point.
In a world where vampires play by different rules and demons make tempting offers, some relationships are forged in fire. Silver and Julian's love will either emerge stronger than ever, or be destroyed along the route they are required to travel.
The hurdles seem insurmountable, but both are determined to walk this path together.
Happily ever after was never going to come easy.
Contains explicit scenes, BDSM elements, supernatural power dynamics, and the kind of love worth fighting Hell itself to claim.
Candace Blevins writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic fantasy contemporary BDSM romance, and two kick-ass motorcycle club series. She’s published more than fifty books. Candace lives with her husband of twenty-four years and their two teenaged daughters. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhounds are usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company. Or sometimes not so quietly.
Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.
Candace's various paranormal romance series are all sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.
Her Dark(ish) Faerie Tale series gives us a close-up and personal look at Queen Mab, and her Dark Underbelly series is, as you’d expect, dark and (if you’re a little twisted) oh-so-yummy.
Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

I am so glad I got an ARC of both books because the cliff hanger from Rock Bottom was a doozy! This book picked up right after the cliff hanger Silver and Julian have been through so much. I am so glad that Silver's struggles with who they are are written in such a mental health forward pov. The fact that one of Julian's requirements to be free is therapy made my therapist heart sing. Watching them come face to face with their struggles and accepting themselves and each other was great. As always the kink was amazing and not for the faint of heart especially when Atlas comes to play. I loved meeting Silver's brother and cannot wait to read more about his story and Silvers as the years go one. One of my favorite things about Candace's books are cameo's from previous books and Bottom's up did not disappoint.
Silver and Julian are still working on their relationship but Silver has a small issue. Luckily Julian is in a place that can help him a Julian build a future. Bottoms Up is the continuation of Silver's story. I enjoyed seeing Julian and Silver work for a future together but I will admit that I struggled through some of it. While Silver is a switch they are both sadist and while it was all consensual it was a bit much for me. Having said that it was gratuitous. It fit bot the situation and the characters. I love seeing just what made Julian and Silver tick. I also loved seeing how supportive their made family is. This story was so well written that I enjoyed even the parts that made me uncomfortable. I love this world and the many layers each characters bring. I cannot wait to where Ms. Blevins takes us next.
Silver and Julian’s story continues and wow is it still so complex. But what we get from their story is that they love each other, they will do anything to be able to stay together and enjoy life as it is before any really big changes can occur. Maybe we’ll get a look into that in future books, would love to see the process.
Silver is having to make so many changes but their family and music family are there to be 100% supportive. It was also hard to see the tests Julian had to go through but it’s the only way for him and Silver to lead a life they want to lead, the pain was worth it.
I loved every minute of their story and how we get glimpses into other characters we read about also show up. Candace’s world building is just amazing, great characters, great storylines make for some great books.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This was an emotional and soul-fulfilling journey for our characters! Julian and Silver were in a good place, but not their final phase, at the end of the previous book. Their story has pain, freely given and willingly accepted, on both their parts. Their story has love, easily flowing and unwavering. Their story has supportive found family, on both sides, and new friends, who only want them to be happy with their choices. The Julian and Silver we have by the end of this are stronger, more confident, and definitely more settled, than the ones we first met, and it was beautiful being with them as they reached this point <3
Picking up right after that major cliffhanger from the first book, this sequel was an thrill! I was so glad that I got the ARC of both books and that I could jump right into this one because I couldn’t have handled the suspense otherwise.
What to expect: - Action-packed plot - Strong character development - Time jumps - An interesting cast of side characters - HEA
The book is action-packed from start to finish, and I especially loved the character development. Seeing the main characters grow and evolve throughout both books was satisfying. I also appreciate the prominent role of therapy in the story, which is something I always admire in this author's work.
This book provides a satisfying ending while still leaving some threads to be followed in future stories. I’m already looking forward to Silver’s brother’s story!
Bottoms Up is a brutal, dark continuation of Julian and Silver’s story. In this installment we find out more about the magical necklace that has claimed Silver. We also witness Julians efforts to be come a freed man. We also learn more about Silver’s brother Benji. And just as things start to settle we meet Atlas a masochistic jaguar shifter. This book is not for the faint of heart. Vampire society is cruel and to get through the tests Julian and Silver make Gavin look soft.
The second part to Silver's story, I really enjoyed this book. I cannot state how much I love Silver. I was questionable on her choice of partner . . . Julian. He is definitely more likeable for me in this one. For me, he came across as a supporting cast for Silver instead of being part of a power couple. However, with the latest developments, specifically because Julian wants to be a partner with Silver instead of a slave. This book is definitely an intense one as Julian prepares and tests for his freedom. Reader hold on to your hats!
