A Saga of Sword and Stone #1

Knights of the Withering Flame

It’s been a difficult year for fifteen-year-old Garith Wynd. In the aftermath of his father’s sudden suicide, he’s moved with his family into a stuffy camper in the Virginian forests during the hottest month of the year.

About the only good thing to come from the move are Garith’s new friends, the inseparable Selena and Blaine. The three friends arrange a campout, but Garith is sidetracked when he comes face-to-face with a terrifying creature ripped from the pages of Arthurian lore—the Beast Glatisant. The only thing standing between him and a grisly death is the alluring White Knight, a shape-shifting enchantress who happens to be the family cat.

Hurled into a fantastical world where knights battle witches, Golems, and forgotten evils, Garith discovers he’s the Dragonstone Protector, tasked with safeguarding an artifact capable of healing or destroying dragonkind—a relic an ancient enemy of the Round Table will do anything to possess.

Surrounded on all sides by unfathomable danger, Garith has no choice but to trust the knights. But even within the ranks of his new allies, treachery lurks. Unless Garith can discover who’s trying to kill him, his legend as the Dragonstone Protector will come to an end.

This was a great book! I enjoyed it very much. This book reminds me of the Percy Jackson Movies. I have not read any Percy Jackson books but I enjoyed the movies very much. This book is great too just like these movies. I love to read about Greek and Roman gods and goddesses! I love to imagine them in this world at one time and Hercules and Xena fighting them. Yes I am very much I fan. If you are a fan as much as I am, you must read this book. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

A unique and very interesting take on Arthurian legend. Definitely takes the lesson of Batman to heart.

If you like Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson books even half as much as I do, Knights of the Withering Flame should be on your read right now list.

We won’t be rubbing elbows with Greek and Roman gods and goddesses in this read, instead we are off to the world of wild adventures and Arthurian times – with a twist.

I’ve read more Merlin themed reads than I can count and yet somehow, author Kyle R. Zeller managed to reel me in hook, line and sinker into the mystical world of the Knights of the Withering Flame.

Without giving too much away and spoiling the pure magic of this read, I’ll say this – the author deftly weaves past and present together in a way that the moving from time periods is seamless.

The author has developed characters as familiar and comfortable as a well- worn pair of Renaissance era leather boots. The reader is able to build instant rapport with the characters as well as experience the surroundings as though there in person.

I also urge you to check out the author’s website, www.KyleRZeller.com – as it highly complements this read.

The second book in this series is scheduled for Fall 2015 release, I don’t want Mr. Zeller to feel pressured but I hope to see an earlier release as I am more than eager to continue the saga.

This story deserves every single one of five stars and I think when you read it, you’ll agree with me on the rating. I’d like to see this book entered in to some YA read contests as I think it is prize worthy.

Garith Wynd isn't having an easy time. His father has killed himself and his mother has decided to move him and his brothers across the country for a new start. Things start to look up as he makes new friends in Selene and Blaine. That is until he is attacked by a monster. Mixing the old and new, the ordinary and fantastical this is a great YA title. Garith is a believable character who is struggling with a lot of different problems I his life and then discovers he has a destiny he never knew about. Highly recommended.

I received this free for an honest, unbiased review. I absolutely loved this book. As a fan of King Arthur stories this one is right up there with my favorites. It takes some of the familiar things in the Camelot myths and turns them into something entirely new. I am really looking forward to the sequel, and hoping that it won't be to long in coming. You really have got to read this book.
