Mila Cruz never imagined that her marriage would have taken the turn it did. She has to start over from scratch with her six-year old son while angry at the world. With shattered trust, she has sworn off men for the rest of her life and is only focused on providing for her son.
While working a server shift, Mila meets the sought-after real estate tycoon Tremaine Houston. Their first interaction leaves a sour taste in each other’s mouths. Tremaine doesn’t understand why a woman so beautiful could be so angry. However after learning the reason behind why Mila is so upset, Tremaine steps in to help her.
Tremaine can’t avoid his attraction for Mila. He is drawn to her and can’t help but think of ways to be one of the men in the world she doesn’t despise. He begins to break through those barriers with words and actions. He’s willing to show Mila that not all love hurts.
Down on your luck single mom and a successful man that just wants to make your life easier? Yes please. Mila had to start all the way over after her marriage fell apart, but Trey was there every step along the way helping her pick up the pieces. I like how intentional he was towards her and how he didn’t necessarily shy away from how he felt about her despite everything she had going on. The storyline with her ex shifted very quickly towards the end and wrapped up neatly. So I was hoping the epilogue would address their current dynamic and whether he followed through with what he said. But it didn’t. I feel like there’s room for spin offs because I’d love to see if Chasity/Vance & Owen/Trina become a thing.
A cute and fluffy read but it lost points for me cus the MMC was dragging it bad. They had a lil meet hate and got off to the wrong start but he was doing too much for a lil. Like the lady was at work and he sees she’s nervous and starts asking hella questions under the guise of tryna make her more comfy. He gets mad cus she’s not playing nice with him and from there he’s huffing and puffing about her. They eventually came together nicely but he’s a liar(said him and Ari only slept together once but they was basically F*ck Buddies) but he looked out for her so I guess that’s supposed to be overlooked. The ex husband was annoying and while I get her wanting a clean break why she thought he’d be nice and respect her wishes for her child while showing he was disrespectful and mean was crazy. This real petty but understand that 180 means a complete flip and major change 360 is a circle so if someone does a 360 they just spun in a circle so they’d be right where they started. Good writer but the story just lacked a certain energy for me.
This was a well timed story of finding yourself and giving love a chance. Mila and Trey started off a little rocky, but he was still intrigued by her. Mila wasn't trying to have any man in her face after her husband played her dirty. Trey got an opportunity to come to her aid and didn't think twice about it. He showed Mila that love exists after heartbreak. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
This was a nice one-sitting read that really pulled me in at the start. Their meet-cute wasn’t cute at all, LOL it was actually hilarious because they were both in the wrong, but I was still kicking and screaming at how mad Trey was about it. 😂
The story had so much potential, but it didn’t allow the FMC to breathe. The transition from one man to the next was way too immediate. She should’ve had at least a year to cool off from men. And while Trey set her up beautifully, he came across as overly possessive. At first, it was attractive, but quickly turned into red flag behavior. If he had just relaxed and supported her from the sidelines, and if Mila had more space to grow, this book would’ve hit harder for me. Also, Kyle trying to get her back was a trash attempt; he should have been on his knees, crying, snotty up. It would have also been more exciting if Trey and Kyle had a little scruffle too, because he deserved it and I wanted to see the bite behind Trey's bark.
I was also annoyed at the 2x blatant misuse of “360 turn around” when it should’ve been 180. 😩 Little details like that take me out of the story and piss me off. 😂
The comment about how he liked her short hair better PMF too because nobody asked you?? And why is the cover art giving long hair when for their relationship it's short?? Anyway.
I wanted to love this story, but the red flags and rushed pacing held it back. Maybe with more fleshing out, and a gradual reveal of lust to like to love would’ve made it closer to a 5/5.
Okay.. um.. I think the pacing is off it’s slow until 60-65% then has to speed up. In my opinion the book fell short on building the characters. Where’s Milas support system outside of her friend & cousin? Like she never even called her parents to say she’s getting a divorce. I feel like for the way Kyle was portrayed you’d think he would surface more…like he doesn’t want her to take the son then she takes him….. then nothing until presumably weeks/months later he shows up threatening to take him again…. Then weeks/months later being sorry. But there’s no connection to him building the story.
Uh for Ari to be obsessed with Trey her character was quiet. That didn’t match the way the character was described.
It’s weird that Mila keeps calling him Mr.Houston. Like talk are way past formalities, fren. The hospital visit at 93% is.. strange. It’s not needed… then Kyle just concedes.. it doesn’t make sense. It’s like the author wanted to make another big scene🤷🏾♀️
I think the scene at treys moms house would have been great to build off but that’s the 1 & only time she’s brought up so it seems like filler 🫣. Because I’m still confused.. they were only going to get pizza why couldn’t he take her back home? He took her to his moms , washed her clothes, & she took a nap then they ate dinner at midnight… why couldn’t he just drive her back to her house? Meeting his mom would have played a significant part if it was used to build another scene but it wasn’t so we really didn’t need that. ..
Ms. Bree, yes, you did that. I love how Mila's story was rewrote for her to get the W. She went through a plethora of unnecessary stress with Kyle. He had a slap of reality with KJ situation and finally came to his senses. Kyle realized he pushed a "good thing" away. That was perfectly fine because Tremaine scooped in and took over the reigns. He not only led the way to a better life for Mila and KJ, but he built an empire while doing it. He made sure Mila was loved properly and in abundance. He understood the assignment because he knew KJ was part of the package deal. He treated him as if he were his own child.
I adore when I read a book where you witness the healing and growth within the main characters. Mila needed so much healing from Kyle infidelity ways. She managed to do just that by working hard to provide for her child. In her eyes, a job was a job, so she wasn't ashamed to wait tables at a diner. Her humility took her from a job to a career. She took that opportunity and ran with it.
Ladies and gents, this is a fabulous read. I highly recommend it. Therefore, grab your copy today. Ms. Bree, I just have one last question: Will Vance and Chasity or Owen and Trina get the opportunity to tell their story?
This story had potential but fell a bit short to me. I was missing Mila’s background as far as her parents, how she grew up, if she had siblings and other things that may have shaped her beliefs or thoughts for how she handled things in her marriage before it ended. I think those details would have helped to connect with her character more. The author gave a brief background about Trey so it was easy to see how he was endeared toward Mila and wanted to help her out after finding out how her marriage imploded and how her ex treated her and disrespected her.
I did like Mila and Trey together and seeing how he was wanting to take care of her while also allowing her to find her independence, self and her passion. He encouraged her and spoke life into her. I also liked how Mila’s cousin Chasity and her best friend Trina had her back and were supportive of her and wanting to help her through her life post divorce. I was happy to see Mila let Trey in and allow him to love her and do things for her and start to understand and believe that not all men are like her ex-husband.
Loved the story! Sometimes, your heartaches and pain can lead you to a blessing, even if you can't see it right then. Mila went through a lot with that low-down dirty cheating jerk ass husband, now ex-husband of hers. However, she found herself and didn't turn back, thanks to the encouragement of her best friend Trina, cousin Chasity, and new friend & concerned boss/eventually new boyfriend Tremaine Houston. She embraced all that came her way.
Trey, I loved his chivalry! He almost lost me when he pulled that mess to get rid of Ari. He should have let her know what was up. With that said, he did what he needed to secure his future in Mila's and KJ's life. He stepped in when he didn't know he was needed, fell in love, and wasn't turning back or letting her go.
Kyle, the joke was on him in the end. The grass is not always greener on the other side. The doctor made the wrong diagnosis!
I really enjoyed Trey and Mila's story. They met during a difficult time in Mila's life. Even though their first meeting wasn't ideal due to Mila's attitude, Trey still came to her rescue. I loved how he made it his mission to help Mila in her time of need and ended up falling for her. I also loved how he took care of Mila's son, KJ, as well. He took him under his wing, and that's exactly what KJ needed. Mila's ex-husband got on my nerves. He did his dirt, and he had the nerve to treat Mila so rude and disrespectful. I wanted Trey to lay hands one good time. Chasity and Trina had Mila's back throughout the book, and I loved that for her. I'm hoping that we will also get books with Trey's friends, Owen and Vance. Trey's love and support helped to build Mila back up and made her confident in herself again. Great book from beginning to end!!
I really enjoyed this love story, Tre and Mila. It took a while for them to act on their feelings, but they handled things about as mature as they could! Kyle Sr. Wasn't jsh,but and to his senses as well! Relationships are hard enough, but with no communication it can be broken beyond measure and sometime the husband and wife can lose being themselves!! Thankfully Tre understood the assignment and knew when he had someone that was worth everything he had to offer, Mila was beyond filled with with love and gratitude! They had their obstacles, but they made it!
I really enjoyed reading For the Lover in You. Mila was down bad after being horribly rejected and disrespected by her husband and the father of her son, KJ. Having to start over with nothing was hard and very humbling for Mila, but she did what she had to do for herself and her son. Trey wasn’t looking for anything, and Mila wasn’t ready at all, but these two couldn’t resist the pull towards each other. Loved Mila’s support system and her work friend was hilarious too.
10/10 ! I enjoyed this book. I was smiling like crazy after she moved out. I love the dynamic. I love how Trey knew what he wanted and decided to not force it but to show up for her. I love how the story unfold and Mila deserved all the happiness! I can’t wait to review it tomorrow on TikTok. I love it so much. First book from this author and I’m definitely gonna read more of her work. Amazing story. I’m reviewing this book everywhere 🥰
If you wanna read a story, where the (Trey) hero saves the (Mila) dazzle in distress; from all odds of poverty, bitterness, legal fee's. Oh, an lets not forget the ex-husbands who dashing out whiplash of resentment and disrespect by flexing his finances in an ugly child custody battle; while parading around his pregnant young girlfriend. Then this book is for you. This book is cute, short read that picks up at fast steady pace.

New to me author. Let me start by saying I wished horrible things on Mila’s husband Kyle. I’m glad she didn’t wait long to sign them papers cuz he was showing his behind. I enjoyed Mila and Tremaine’s journey. There were a couple of rough spots and miscommunication but nothing that lasted too long. Trust I thought I had to tell Tre bout himself but they got it together. I enjoyed the characters and storyline. I would recommend.
This is the most disgusting book I have ever read! Almost every page of this book contains constant disparagement of both dark-skinned and white-skinned people🤮🤮🤮 FMC behaves inappropriately with other men because she is resentful towards her ex, and her friend and sister are no better. MMC also behaves badly. The book is terribly written! If I could give it 0 stars out of 5, I would.
You know your ready for better when you literally walk away with nothing but your child and not a care in the world. Then you when your ready for better the past wants to come in like a storm and threatens to break you even more. This is a slow burn but in the best way possible. Just when things couldn’t get any lower your life turns into a fairytale, and you live the soft life you were always meant to live with a man that adores you and your son. Love a man that has every intention to be real and help without judgment.
sometimes what was meant to cripple you actually helps you walk stronger than you’ve ever done before. Trey was exactly who he thought he was! Mila needed to feel the femininity she felt with him after being treated less than for so many years by her husband.
Felt like the book went slow with the romance which is good but this book is less than 120 pages so it doesn’t work the ending was just okay bc it felt like they were in the start of a relationship then it ends also the son is barely in the book and barely and scenes with them as a family which is the best part of a single parent romance so this wasn’t my fav not bad but 🤷🏾♀️
This was a cute, slow-burn romance with a lot of push and pull. I really enjoyed watching the walls come down little by little. It’s emotional without being heavy, sweet without being cheesy, and perfect if you love a patient love interest who proves himself through actions. Definitely worth the read if you’re in the mood for something soft and heartfelt.
This was so refreshing to read. The MMC was that guy and made no excuses for stepping up and I loved that. That ex-husband chapped my hide. Oh, and this is my first book by this author and she didn't disappoint.
Mila gave her all with her ex husband, Kyle, only for it to not be enough for him. When he shatters her world it turns her heart cold. Trey has never been in love but is a hopeful romantic. When they path cross, Trey waste no time showing Mila that no every dude is a clown.
A wonderful story with relatable characters and storyline We get to see the MMC and MFC and Son KJ fall in love It was a little messy but they overcame all obstacles and got their family HEA Another great one Bree
This story was so good. I love how it had his ups and downs. I’ve been into reading, black love and it’s so entertaining so good. Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to read more.
That’s a good man, Savannah! Baby me and my girls would’ve had to jump Kyle; idc idc! This was such a great feel good book. Trey was everything Mila needed and more!
