Demons and Doppelgängers stalk their hapless prey while fae folk help or hinder according to their whims. Spurned children take their revenge and wrathful angels dole out justice. A violent psychopath embraces the murderous nature he’d been running from his entire life; while a pregnant woman is horrified to learn that the monsters from her mother’s stories might be more than superstitious lore. In his fiction debut collection, Lennox Rex explores the way horror can not only entertain, but offer us connection, understanding, and a way to confront and process our everyday fears, anxieties, and traumas.
Lennox Rex was raised in sunny San Diego, on a steady diet of mythology, folktales, and scary stories. He wrote his first story in second grade and hasn’t stopped since. To him, life is best enjoyed with music, body mods, and plenty of coffee and sweets. He lives with his husband, their three children, and nowhere near enough books.

If you’re looking for the perfect spooky book to read on a rainy night, I’ll Never Leave You is the book for you. It’s full of stories that are scary, yes, but also thoughtful and filled with deeper messages. Author Lennox, in his debut collection, preys on fears you probably already have, but twists them in new ways. His stories are delightfully surprising and sinister. My favorite story is Mister Midnight, a story of sibling love and sacrifice. Others that stayed with me long after I read them are “Some Prayers Should Go Unanswered…,” “The Witch,” and the title story “I’ll Never Leave You.” Do yourself a favor and get this book right now.
I'll Never Leave You by is a haunting collection of short horror stories. Many are more on the eerie and unsettling end of the spectrum, which I personally love, but there also some gruesome tales, which Rex handles well as well. There's not a bad story in the bunch, but some standouts to me were "Appointed Guardian, "Some Prayers Should Go Unanswered," and "Mister Midnight." If you love unnerving short stories, definitely check this collection out.
I'll never leave you is absolutely amazing. It's spine-chilling and glorious all at the same time. My personal favorites were: "Appointed Guardian", "Some prayers should go unanswered", and "Believe me now?" However, it was really, really hard to choose a top three because they're all so incredible. I cannot recommend it enough.
