Dear Shah Rukh: In Your Shadows, I Found My Light by Priyanka Srivastava is a touching and inspirational memoir woven through heartfelt letters to Shah Rukh Khan. Far beyond being a simple fan tribute, it reflects how a larger-than-life figure can become a source of strength, hope, and self-discovery. From the very first glimpse of SRK’s playful charm in Koi Na Koi Chahiye, Priyanka found in him not just a screen idol, but her first love, silent confidant, and guiding light.

Through a series of nostalgic, witty, and deeply emotional letters, she recounts how Shah Rukh’s presence illuminated her journey—from the innocence of childhood and the dreams of adolescence to the challenges of career, marriage, and moments of despair where his films became a lifeline. Each letter blends personal memory with universal truth, showing how cinema and its icons often provide comfort, courage, and curiosity about the human being behind the stardom.

Raw, honest, and soul-stirring, this memoir is ultimately a celebration of resilience, gratitude, and the extraordinary bond between a fan and her star. Whether you cherish Shah Rukh Khan or simply believe in love, healing, and the magic of stories, this book promises to move you and linger in your heart long after you close its final page

More than just a fan tribute, this book beautifully captures how an icon can become a guiding light in someone’s life journey. At other times, a stranger on a screen may be the motivation to continue believing in yourself.

Priyanka's memoir, #DearShahRukh, isn't exactly a love letter but a letter of hope, healing, and bravery in the company of someone she hasn't ever seen but whose presence she has deeply felt. In warm and intimate letters to Shah Rukh Khan, she symbolizes the naivety of a first love, familiarity of an unseen friend, and inspiration that carried her through the biggest wars of life.

What I enjoy the most is the vulnerability and truthfulness of her writing. Whether it's childhood daydreams or innocence, or drama of youthfulness or intricacies of career and love life, every letter can be described. How she admires Shah Rukh Khan and you find yourself thinking about your own positives.

It's not merely a book for SRK fans—although it will definitely satisfy them. It's a reminder of how inspiration, love, and creativity can lead us out of the darkness of life into our light. ????

I read # Dear Shah Rukh: In Your Shadows, I Found My Light because it was not just a memoir that it presented itself to be an adventure of hope, healing, and love in the context of fandom for Shah Rukh Khan. As a person who has grown up witnessing SRK not merely as an actor but an emotion, I was attracted to Priyanka's vulnerability to pen down how his presence turned into her beacon of hope during times of joy, adversity, and survival.

The book is filled with tear-jerking letters, and there are certain lines that never fail to stay with you. One such line that moved me so deeply was:
“Na Apno se Khulta hai, Na Gairo se Khulta hai, Ye Jannat ka Darwaza Hai Ye Meri Maa ke Pairo se Khulta hai.”

It’s these raw, emotional truths, wrapped in nostalgia and gratitude, that make this book so special. It reminds us that sometimes the people we’ve never met can inspire us the most.

This is a book that I would put in the "great real and heartfelt" category. Author’s writing is very truthful, and thus you should not be surprised if you happen to experience her emotions—her happiness, her suffering, and her expectation. The story is not only about being a fan of Shah Rukh Khan but also about obtaining power and solace via a person who motivates you. What I found most impressive was how she linked the highs and lows of her life with the movies and the words of SRK. The writing is very intimate and friendly, it’s like getting letters from a friend who has experienced the same and has found the light again. It is very nice to the heart, very earnest, and a little bit uplifting by its very nature.

This book... it's like a little candle flame in a dark room. Tiny, maybe, but so persistent. It gives off this beautiful warmth, this feeling of hope. That's exactly what author's letters are. They're like those gentle flickers, lighting up her path, showing us her journey through love and heartache, and how she finds herself again. Shah Rukh Khan, he's the spark that keeps that little flame alive in her. He guides her through the tough times, the shadows. You can just feel the honesty and tenderness in her words. It shows how much strength you can find in admiring someone. It's just so moving, a beautiful reminder that inspiration, like a light in the darkness, can come from anywhere, from the most surprising places in our hearts.

The story is a sincere homage to an individual that she did not realize would be her support—Shah Rukh Khan. Author, using the medium of soulful letters, communicates her feelings with affection, wit, and truthfulness. Every instance exhibits the impact of SRK’s charisma, fight, and sagacity on her journey with affection, bereavement, and recovery. A fan memoir is something different: a narrative about the values of hope, thankfulness, and discovering brightness in unanticipated quarters.

As author writes, “You taught me that love need not be returned to be real.” A touching read for anyone who’s ever found solace in a stranger’s smile.

What resonated with me most in this memoir was its earnest sincerity and how Author wonderfully interprets admiration as emotional healing. The book is not simply about fandom—it's about the ways art, hope, and human connection can transform lives. Every letter reads as intensely personal yet somehow universal, and how Shah Rukh Khan's charm and philosophy became her beacon of hope in times of joy and suffering. The prose is personal, poetic, and real, laced with nostalgia and contemplation. What is unique about it is the way the author turns her admiration into self-awareness, reminding us that one can find inspiration from even the most unlikely sources.

What I loved most about this book is how honest and heartfelt it is. Reading author felt like I was reading her personal diary, full of love, thankfulness, and getting better. She tells her story so well, mixing memories with lessons, which can make you feel good and motivated. The book has a friendly, personal, familiar vibe, mostly if you get what it's like to use art to guide you. I think maybe the story gets a little too emotional sometimes, which might repeat itself for some. But, her true voice and feelings really make this book one you'll remember.

Love is not just an emotion but the fuel to one's life.
And on reading this book, I realized with the flip of every page that there are many people like me who fall head over heels for personalities who doesn't know that we do exist.

Written by the heart and soul of a die hard Shahrukh fan, whose journey changed even without meeting the superstar in real world.

A book filled with positive vibes and hope that kept me intact in the same.
