Grief can be overwhelming, it can make you feel as if no one really understands what you are going thru. Sometimes we need the gentle reminder that God is with us and that there is hope for a better day. What I found within the pages of Hope In The Mourning Bible was daily and weekend reflective reading and they are written by people who have experienced grief.Along with each reading there is a Heart Whisper which is a closing prayer for the devotion. Each writing is tied to specific scriptures in the Bible which further touches and hopefully begins the healing process. There is a weights and tables chart and also a list of authors and biographies so that you can get to know the people who actually wrote the devotions. There are also song lyrics from Music For The Soul and there is a special webpage where users can access the music. The Bible itself is written in the easy to use NIV translation. It's small enough to carry, but the print isn't so tiny that I struggled to read it. There is a presentation page making it perfect for gift giving. Overall Hope In The Mourning is a nice little Bible filled with 52 devotionals that might provide hope to those experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one, or to anyone whose heart may be burdened with grief or sorrow.

The Bible is my absolute favorite book, without question. That being said there are several different translations and different devotional topics from them. This is a NIV version devotional Bible for those in mourning. I thought the devotional topics and the way they were addressed were quite good. I had some issues with the NIV translations on some verses and the changing of the book names. Realistically, I believe this Bible can help those working through a loss. I grew up on the NKJV version and while the translations are close, I would use the devotional portions of this Bible with the NKJV were it me. I rate this a 3/5. I believe it will help those in mourning, I just have reservations about some of the differences with the translation. Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
A great resource for anyone who is grieving or wants to help someone through loss. The devotionals are very comforting and inspiring. Bible verses relating to grief were easy to find. I especially like the insights from others whose loved ones have passed away. When my mom passed away two years ago I found great comfort in Gods Word and in talking to others who experienced something similar. If you’ve lost a loved one or know someone who is grieving, be sure to look for this Hope in The Mourning Bible.
