This book is definitely more elaborate at explaining Japanese words and their meanings into a logical explanation that really resonates with a native English speaker, despite its age, it is still quite relevant but I think it basically stops there. It is incredibly hard to remember all the material in this book due to its density and confusing nature however you could put that down to more of a personal thing rather than the book itself but overall I recommend this book, especially if you are interested in the Japanese language, the etymology in Japanese, loanwords or linguistics. I think this is the kind of book that must be read in bursts, rather than reading it all at once.
